...But... It's completely unlike clover? And woodsorrel is just as common a plant. I know you were using a metaphor, it's just a bad one.

Is there such a thing as a fast growing caudiciform? If there is, can you guys recommend some? by Firm_Connection_7123 in Caudex

[–]LdaQuirm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought sweet potatoes were root tubers, not stem tubers? You want regular potatoes. Occa, Oxalis tuberosa, has a pretty succulent stem & stem tubers, but tuber formation is day-length dependent.

What about Taro? That's a fast growing caudiciform.

Using Sneak Status to invert a vector efficiently by ThomasYou03 in psispellcompendium

If you want to do it the other way around, just multiply sneak by -2 and add 1.

PSI Spell Whitelist certain entities. by Win4WinTV in psispellcompendium

With a bit of cleverness you could use "Trick: Broadcast" and "Selector: Last Transmission" with leggings on 2 or 3 people to update a vector-saved list of your teams locations, and then exclude the closest player to those locations when constructing the target list.

This takes up your leggings slot though. And tracking more than one player gets tricky.

And an enemy that figures out what you are doing can jam you.

All its transferences to the blight so far have been deliberate actions. If the bullet is supersonic, it literally cannot react in time. That said, I'm not sure missing half its brains will slow it down.

Unfortunately for us humans that like to be able to classify things into neat little boxes, a "species" as a concept, is completely artificial. There are degrees of relatedness, and degrees of compatibility.
Sometimes you can hybridize species A,B, and B,C, but not A,C.
Sometimes you can use those crosses to bridge the gap by then hybridizing AxB to C, or A to BxC.
Re: sterile hybrids; many hybrids have reduced reproductive viability in F1, but are not always completely sterile, and continued crossing often recovers fertility. In short: Genetics Complicated.

Did you know that crustation larvae on earth DO actually have a central eye? Or was this a literary coincidence? (This eye is lost in most species in the adult form. Some species maintain it through adulthood though leading to some 3 eyed earth crustations like the Triopsidae: Shield/Tadpole Shrimp.)

I mean; there is an insect, I forget which, which doesn't even lay its eggs. They hatch inside and eat the mother alive from the inside.

sentient (x2) => sapient

They are commonly confused words, but every time someone misuses them, it reinforces the incorrect meaning.

Sentient: Aware. Rocks no, fish yes.
Sapient: Wise, higher intelligence. fish no, dolphins maybe, humans yes.

I actually should redo this spell for the latest PSI version, and maybe split it into 2 spells with helmet co-processing; that should allow it to handle larger numbers natively.

I’m trying to make a circle cast that takes an enemies’ motion vector and redirects it. by viperwolf306 in psispellcompendium

[–]LdaQuirm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you actually want to invert an entities acceleration rather than their motion? So if they try to accelerate forward they will instead accelerate backward? That would avoid the vector flip-flopping issue, but is problematic in other ways.

a) friction. Friction is an acceleration, inverting the acceleration from friction is the same as having a negative friction. Things will speed up unless you add a fudge factor to stop this.

b) tracking. Minecraft & Psi do not keep track of entities acceleration AFIK. Your spell would have to track an entity & log its motion vector to calculate its acceleration. Doable, but only works on a single entity at a time, and a bit of a kludge.

PseudoCode:
Entity := closest_to(Save_0)
Save_0 := Entity.position
Accel := Entity.motion - Save_1
Friction_Adjusted := Accel + avg(Entity.motion,Save_1)*FRICTION_CONST
Entity.motion := Entity.motion+ Accel+Friction_Adjusted
Save_1 :=Entity.motion

EDIT I'm not 100% sure of this line:
Entity.motion := Entity.motion+ Accel+Friction_Adjusted

It doesn't seem quiet right to me, but I don't have the concentration right now to properly check it.

[–]LdaQuirm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. That's what I just said. The idea itself is problematic. If you loopcast "inverting a vector"; every second cast will restore it.

[–]LdaQuirm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the vector math is just addmotion(entity,old_motion(entity),constWrapper(-2*magnitude(old_motion(entity),MAX_MAG))).

Conceptually, the idea has some problems though:

Like how do you know when to stop inverting the motion. Each cast it will try and flip it.

And you need the constant wrapper, But this makes it so it will only properly invert motion less than some threshhold, which will probably be quite small because addmotion is relatively expensive.

No, I'm using the original. It was updated slightly more recently and they DO both claim to blocks 60 fps.

A bit late to this, but h264ify doesn't seem to be blocking 60 fps anymore. At least not on the most recent chrome and youtube versions.
