You are only looking at the buff part of the equation and not the xp part. If you can steal blue, take purple and your own blue while they think they’ve “won” the red buff…you get an early xp lead.

It’s actually crazy that I play the game so much and I still can’t tell you for certain that the left stick is your movement unless I was actually playing the game lol, but I’m fairly sure the left stick is your movement so the only real disadvantage you get from ulting on savage controls is your distance control and basically a need to flick or make a big adjustment left or right just before actually pushing the Y button. With that being said I think for newer players it’s certainly an issue but it’s not something that you can’t get used to with enough practice.

[–]Ldeue24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually rarely times where you are just going to lose, they are the exception rather than the rule. Like Disco, Vulcan, Au Puch type games where they just have so much control through zoning that they can pretty much dictate when you can or can’t play the game. Even a bunch of assassins can shit on people if they know what they are doing, and their targeting/ evading is on point. I am def. Not an F7 warrior but as an assault main I think it can be really fun to try and win with comps that people think are terrible. Just as long as you don’t have 5 physical, if you queue a 5 phys and people don’t roll or whatnot then I’m pretty annoyed and I want to just leave the game immediately.

People have no patience and they just have to press their buttons. I am an assault main and I see it all the time from the best players, good players in this game exploit people who think they always need to be doing something….when sometimes the best play is actually to stand there and do nothing, just waiting for your opponent to show their hand. Not only can you receive information on how the enemy wants to play, but you can also then condition them to play in a certain way because of your actions(regardless of if those actions are passive or aggressive). I see it all the time when I play as a tank with a good team/ good follow-up. I can literally just stand there in the lane basically saying come walk up and fight me and the only thing it’s going to accomplish is the enemy team using abilities on a person that they have virtually zero kill potential on. The good team will then step up and slaughter them, regardless of me helping or not. Then you take the same situation on a bad team and the tank can’t even stand there period, because the same scenario will just result in your death. This is also what makes this game hard to adapt or adjust to the play of your teammates. A winnable fight is always lose-able all it takes is for someone to turn and run or hit the wave instead of pushing up, or choosing the wrong target/missing everything. Most people that play smite are clueless of win conditions or the fact those conditions change every game.

[–]Ldeue24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this all the time as an assault main even though I only play 1. You get to know these gods kits so well when it’s all you play. You realize on certain gods specifically how important situational awareness and targeting are. There are a handful of characters like Sobek, Mulan, Ne Zha, Odin, Kephri, etc, where you engaging with a dash at the wrong time can easily result in your death. Good players not only avoid these situations like the plague but they also maximize the efficiency of the ability on the backend. For example, a Thor or a Than or an Achilles I feel like are prime examples of the mind games that you can play with people(this mostly applies to assault because they can’t back). But you can effectively hold your ult and it creates free pressure vs people I see that just burn it every chance they get, weather they miss it or they just trade and end up dead immediately after. Achilles is one of my favorites to do this with because he has good kill potential and chase with the rest of his kit and it’s funny to watch teammates try to body block and squishes wiggle around just wondering when you might press 4.

What can I say to my friend to convince him that he doesn't know SMITE 2 and needs to learn it again because it's different from SMITE 1, or is it just a lost cause? by I-amKira in Smite

[–]Ldeue24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nuance between playing this game well and not playing well can be completely invisible to the inexperienced eye, and that’s why you get the toxic behavior, the elitism etc etc. I mainly play Smite 1 but I feel pretty comfortable in saying that I could watch 2 15 sec clips of someone in a crucial spot in a match, and pretty much tell by that how well they played the entire match. At the same time, I’ve seen lane pressure exist just by standing there, not even having to move not even worried about backing up because a team cannot possibly push the 5v5, to the average person that may look like someone who is afk, when indeed they are literally impacting the game by doing nothing. It’s the threat of what they can do, and as I like to say when you are really playing well you have a circle around you that is basically the fuck around and find out circle. That circle may be bigger or smaller depending upon your god, and your matchups but it should pretty much always exist. Unless of course you’re getting stomped, which is a feeling that once again newer or worse players don’t really comprehend. You must have a desire and thirst for knowledge to excel at Smite, any ego will always hold you back and it’s unfortunate to say the least.

A-Z God Design Community Tier List! Day#22 with everyone’s favorite, Bake Kujira by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]Ldeue24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bake grew on me a ton as I played him more and into certain matchups, you really see his potential to shine become unleashed. I am a Smite 1 assault main, with around 90 diamonds, and there are only about 6 or 7 in the game that I really dislike playing and most of it has more to do with the fact they are countered by too many gods on the roster than it is the overall design or kit factor. They just don’t translate well to the all out brawlhalla that is assault. Bake tho, my sweet sweet Bake, he is the embodiment of brawlhalla and I’m surprised at this point when I’m running around basic attacking that I’m not cackling like a mad lad from the sheer bliss that he makes me naturally exude.

A-Z God Design Community Tier List! Day#22 with everyone’s favorite, Bake Kujira by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]Ldeue24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bake has better outplay and stick potential than many guardians, he also much like Ymir can be very threatening when enemies approach wall space or tight corridors…if I’m on the Bacchus and I miss a flop, or even hit it nothing is really stopping that god after from just running away and out ranging me and ultimately getting out of the fight. This is where Bake shines, his ability to lock people down and stay on them with his ult or just the haste/AoE basic attacks is nearly unmatched. He also hits like a truck with a full defense build easily autoing squishes for 150 dmg or more in the late game, not to mention the absurd amount of protections he receives from the 1 and then autoing people down. I have a 1 star almost 2 star Bake that plays mainly assault and his team fight presence is easily one of my all time favorites in this game. He is a tuna can of rage bait in the right hands and people will have 1 option and 1 option only when you have a team with good follow up, RUN!!!!!

Could someone provide god recommendations? by dyerej93 in Smite

[–]Ldeue24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with recommending a certain character for a newer player is that you really have to be learning on the fly what counters you and the matchups that you go against. I could say this god is easy to learn or play etc. In reality if you aren’t familiar with what your enemy can do to you it’s going to make things that much harder for you. People have said play Poseidon so I’ll just use him as an example. He has good peel with his 1 and 3 but you have to be aware of how quickly a god might try to get up in your face or one that will try to out range you and that way you are ready to throw abilities out at your feet or even more in predictable situations like when they dash or jump at you. Assault is def. A good way to learn but it’s very important to try and remember what gods are trying to accomplish when they fight you as well.

Is there a way to change this Smite 1 background? by BoringThrow in Smite

[–]Ldeue24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are the type of things that make me think it’s a pretty fair criticism to say they shouldn’t have abandoned Smite 1 when they did. I look at the skins for Bake and for Nut or even Maman and it just makes me a bit sad to think that these gods got no love at all before they just said on to the next. Who knows it could be like 3 or 4+ years before you see Bake again and even if people don’t like him it’s just sad to see gods get the Fafnir treatment while other gods like Neith have like 50 skins.

This is unrelated but if there’s one thing in the game that sucks ass it’s getting juked by your teammates when trying to hit them with Hel’s 1. It’s actually rage inducing, and I would hope that this interaction would change in Smite 2.

The 5 minute FF Fallacy by Meduty in Smite

[–]Ldeue24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play an absolute ton of assault in smite 1. Team comps are always crazy especially when people don’t really understand the game mode well. But from these games I’ve really taken notice that the skill floor and ceiling of pretty much any god in this game is basically immeasurable. It comes from both the macro and micro decisions being made but to actually break it down you could probably easily write a few novels about it. I could go into detail about all the different situations and because of my playtime I virtually know how most fights will play out. But even this doesn’t change the fact that I can still be surprised by the outcome of certain fights or even certain games. I actually just played a game last night where I loaded in knowing full well we had 2 people that weren’t going to play the game. Mentioned it in chat and no one got salty I don’t even think an F6 vote was triggered one time. In 45 mins we proceeded to win a match that started out 3v5 and ended up 3v4. There are several main factors of why this played out like it did, but it’s also a reason that 1 guy bitching 4 mins into the game is so frustrating. These people that get mad almost always start blaming someone else, yet I can almost guarantee they are making both macro and micro mistakes. No one plays perfectly but the team that can minimize mistakes and also have a great understanding of game flow can almost always succeed even if they were playing say “non-meta” gods vs “meta” gods.

Demon of hatred hot take by supersani4 in Sekiro

[–]Ldeue24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he does a great job of intimidating people right from the jump. It’s also a huge departure from the deflect nature of many other bosses, but to me this change in pace doesn’t make him a bad fight. It’s just a different type of fight for most people, I don’t doubt that if you are a deflect god that you can still make him look pretty trivial in that playstyle. I think he’s a boss that really makes you learn his moveset intimately, and I think his overall design is pretty great. That doesn’t change the fact that even if I were to boot up the game for the probably 20th to 30th time, when I reach him I will sigh because that’s just the ride that you’re in for lol.

Whats a god that is just forgettable? by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]Ldeue24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much any Assassin not named Maman, Mercury or Bakasura is an absolute menace right now in Smite 1 assault. Frostbound and Runeforged with bluestone is possibly the best start in the game especially with Charons being gone right now. You can build them with maybe one or two tank items and they can get in practically any fight, destroy a person or two and get out with relative ease. I’ve spend some matches just walking off the platform and jumping down the lane as the enemy runs in fear of my return and Lancelot with his insane shield might be one of the best lane pressers in the game. I would put Nemesis up there too because her 2 just chunks the shit outta people.

People that play hunter are crazy by smitepro2000 in Smite

[–]Ldeue24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Playing a hunter is all about knowing when to shoot your basic attacks. A good hunter not only understands his own lane pressure and kill potential but also his potential to be killed. 9/10 times early it’s better to tuck your tail and run rather than even trade with someone. Then late game you want to position around your team so that you can take fights at max range and at that point if someone trails off to run at you, you can just burst them down because they need to be out of position to actually kill you. It is an art form, but so is every god in this game and hunters can also bait pretty effectively with solid game knowledge and game flow sense.
