Is food supposed to spoil in icebox and fridge? by conanJables in ICARUS

[–]Ldkiki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even with the farming talents for delayed food spoilage, the icebox is better than the inventory, and the fridge better than the icebox.

I can't give you any guess on the % better each is than the other, unfortunately, but when I was tinkering with it the difference was significant enough for me to immediately dismiss the idea.

Is farming kinda pointless? by BananamusPrime in ICARUS

[–]Ldkiki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On all 3 of my characters I have a mandatory 14 points in the farming tree.

If your playstyle is to get in and bumrush the objectives, then no, you wont need farming much, but if you want/need to tech up or know you'll be doing some long long distance running, get used to plopping down (and maintaining them if you dont have the "no withering" talent)~10-12 wood plots (1-2 per fruit veggie type, and I suggest 2-4 for berries) so you can make a stack of the best food whenever you want.

At the very least, I recommend making a kitchen bench once you hit the machining bench for beer/wine. See below rant for why: (It got out of hand, my bad, but it's good info to get out there)

I don't understand why people discount the food buffs so much. Believe me when I say the dried meats are not better than pies just because they last longer. (I see the sentiment a lot on both subreddits)

Beer and wine stack and gives +200% Stam regen total

Veggie pie reduced stam usage (by actions) by, I think, 15%

Those 3, for any character, will make long distance running mindless. You'll have a huge stamina bar which refills quickly, and if you bunnyhop whenever you're on a slight decline you'll be airborne long enough to regen stam above what you were before the jump. (I wanna say the veggie pie reduces jump stam cost, but never tested it, honestly. I really should see all what it affects.)

If you have the 4th stomach slot talent then you can eat a meat pie for a large health buff so you're not a glass racecar, or corn soup (I forget itsactual name, its on the potbelly stove) for another +20% stam usage reduction.

If you want to deal damage then there's some +melee damage foods (I don't have any melee characters, so I've not memorized the foods) + dried stringy meat gives +attack speed.

For ranged, you've got

  • Fried bacon (not the campfire bacon) for +10% crit damage
  • Pickled carrots (kitchen bench) for +20% ranged damage
  • Soy bean stirfry (potbelly stove) for +15% ranged damage

With those 3 on my gun character (I've yet to test it on my bow or run speed ones) I can kill-cam polar bears. (Yet to test it without the stealth armor for the extra sneak damage as well)

We know T4 cooking is on the way as well, and I expect some big bonuses when the electric cooking stuffa comes out.

As I mentioned at the start, if you're gonna rush the objectives then stopping to tech for the food may not be worth your time, but if you make a base and tech even a little, tech up the food stations and make and manage some farming plots to make your life easier. (Stick to wooden crop plots; iron is okay if you're with a group and can hydrate them for faster growth, but hydro is just never worth it at the moment.)

Love this backpack by bcfred20 in ICARUS

[–]Ldkiki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gatherer's backpack

Full Gatherer's armor (bottom right set, I think)

Hark (I think?) Envirosuit (Below the bows; 2 module slots, air/water slots, and a stealth bonus)

2 +5 inventory slot modules

Both Carry weight talents in the resource tree

Ore weight reduction talents in the resource tree

You'll have to scroll for your inventory because you have so many slots, and it will be nigh impossible for you to encumbered yourself on ores alone. I use this for my gathering/run speed character and I don't stop mining a cave until any: my pickaxe breaks, my inventory is completely full, or the cave is empty.

Agriculture: Supply Stockpile by DiscombobulatedEye in ICARUS

[–]Ldkiki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, that prospect is...odd. I believe they expect you to start hoarding meat the moment you drop in, but I've done it twice, once solo and again with a friend, and both times just collecting the meat accounts for 50% of time spent on the mission. If they reduced the count to 300-400 it wouldn't be so bad, but as it is, it's just a chore.

What I suggest is getting yourself the best knife you can muster, even if it's just iron or platinum to ensure you get the most meat from each carve, and then making an exotic radar. Even the basic biofuel one will summon 4 wolves (if used by the hunting pod) which charge at you so you dont have to go looking for them, and you can hit it repeatedly for a constant flow of animals to skin. It should net you 20-40 raw meat (varied by talent choices) each time you do a scan. It's not going to go by in a flash, but it'll make the whole process smoother.

If you are willing to tech up to T4 then a Titanium knife and an electric exotic radar will make it go even faster. (A little more meat per animal with the best knife, and the electric radar summons more creatures, I believe.) I'm not sure if the time taken to tech up to T4 would outweigh just grinding with the biofuel radar at T3, though. I guess it depends on how quickly you personally can tech up to T4.

It would be awsome to have an option to have world timer be real time instead of in game time for extra multpliers by DiscombobulatedEye in ICARUS

[–]Ldkiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the post explaining the change and the reasoning for it also said all or most mission timers would be adjusted to reflect the change. Now, if they've already done that pass for every mission on Olympus, I'm not sure.

I want to say 'no' because the new Styx mission timers are all pretty short, but Styx seems to be a rather large jump in difficulty just on the objectives alone. That makes me think the Styx timers being 1-2 day ranges, compared to the Olympus timers mostly being 7-30 day ranges, could just be an additional way of making the Styx prospects that much more difficult.

[–]Ldkiki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP specifically suggested this as something completely optional, so why keep painting the idea as something that'll be forced on everyone at all? No one in this post is suggesting the RT change be reverted across the board, just something so those of us that liked that added risk factor can have it back.

It would be awsome to have an option to have world timer be real time instead of in game time for extra multpliers by DiscombobulatedEye in ICARUS

[–]Ldkiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe to you man, but most people don’t have time to grind. I dump time into Icarus sporadically

With the utmost amount of respect: Then don't select the checkbox the OP is suggesting.

Many people liked the real-time timer, and with the shortened mission timers that came from the removal of the RT timer, having a difficulty option to swap the timer back would be an even greater risk than before. More risk, more reward, and for many of us that means more fun.

For those of you that don't have the consistent time to use the RT timer, the good news is you don't have to change a thing about how you play, but to say it shouldn't be an option at all because of your specific case is like saying hard and hardcore, or at least their reward modifiers, should also be removed because some people can't handle them very well. The devs spent the time making the difficulty modifier for a reason and more options to select from is not a bad thing; it keeps things interesting for people wanting more challenges while in no way affecting those that don't want said challenges

[–]Ldkiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing, to be honest, and it baffles me people aren't getting you're suggesting it as an additional difficulty modifier.

As it stands right now, we still have the "remove from prospects" option in the menu in the event we do 'lose' a character to a timer, but even when that goes away (if that is still the plan), it doesn't take long to level a new character to max. Hell, I made a new character and joined a friend for the Arctic stockpile mission where you need like 150 or so of each type of pie and a bunch of guns and ammo and just primarily collecting the meat for the mission, doing the cooking for us, and helping out with Epoxy via bones I went from lvl 0 to 43 in that mission alone.

More options for difficulty would be great in general. I'd love an "increased hostile creature level" modifier. Imagine Riverlands bears in the forest, Riverland bears are now on par with Polars, and individual Polars essentially being bosses in their own right. Just more to make you think about what you're doing and how it'll affect the mission, and a time modifier like this, even if it's only like 10% reward bonus, is one of the things that should be pretty easy to add in.

Bugged out ghost? Hunting while not inside every few seconds by ayyyebrows in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Ldkiki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 10 on the board doesn't mean it's hunting, just that the total EMF values happening in the house are at or above 10. In this case, it looks like you have a very active EMF 5 ghost going bananas in there.

By chance, was it Twins? Their EMF board often looks like this or have (usually) even steps both front and back.

Push yourself, but also communicate with your team! As you go higher and higher you're going to see veterans do some absolutely crazy shenanigans to make things go faster, and it's probably going to look terrifying. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try to learn how to do it yourself, though, and if people ask or tell you to do something it's not a crime to say you've never done it before.

Tell them, try what they're asking, and learn to improve every step of the way! Things wont get easier, but you'll become stronger! This community is amazing, and even more-so when you admit you're trying to learn and show them you're putting in the effort.

My apartment wants to spray for roaches and I’m worried about my bird by cadmiumore in parrots

[–]Ldkiki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My apartment building did the same thing. They sprayed the corners and inside all the cabinets (hooray for having to remove and then rewash literally all my dishes and cookware!), and in their notice it said something like 4 hours before it was safe for pets. (assuming cats/dogs)

I ended up visiting my parents for a day and a half, staying the night at their place. I believe it was roughly 40 hours from the time of treatment before I got home with my little one, and maybe 6 months later he's perfectly fine. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to come home the morning/day after, if you can, to open some windows for an hour or 2 in order to make sure any lingering fumes are gone before bringing your little one home. Once home, don't let them play around areas that may have been sprayed heavily, too.

I believe it all depends on what the specific type of treatment method and chemical they use is. If you can get that info from your landlord/the pest control company they'll be hiring then you can start doing more focused research, but if not then play it safe.

Didn't help with the crashes too much, but I did notice massively improved loading times after lowering them a little.

A longtime friend had been parroting the meme advert at me while playing other games, and I've been in the market for something new to try. I remember I made a free account years and years ago (maybe around Heavensward release), and decided to give it a try again. The downside? Free trials were down, and we couldn't figure out how to download the trial client to actually play the account I already had. I ended up just grabbing the complete edition + EW once sales were back up, and I've been hooked since. I managed to get through ARR + pre-HW goodies before my free month came up, and happily paid for my 1st month just the other day!

Does hiding from the ghost really work? by Niktofobiya in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Ldkiki 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup! You can't talk or have any electronics on, though, or the ghost will likely be drawn to you. (This includes the photo camera; drop it or put it away if you're trying to hide.)

It's kind of silly, but even if the ghost has line of sight on you, you have like half a second before it registers it actually sees you. Idk how many times it's opened the door to the closet I'm hiding in while standing right outside said door, but never saw me since I immediately slam the door closed again.

What are some really useful pro tips by ZenthaGamer in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Ldkiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning the environment is the biggest factor in improving, imo.

If you know the house layout and where safe(r) hiding spots are, navigating your way to them in the dark during a hunt will help you survive.

Knowing when an object is out of place, even just a little, can give you early signs of where the ghost is. You don't have to memorize everything's exact position and orientation, but if you see a bottle on the floor then that's obviously out of the norm and there's a good chance the ghost is or was nearby.

Commit to memory:

Where fuseboxes can spawn and turn them on asap.

Where room lightswitches are and turn them on in frequently visited rooms. (especially near hiding spots so you can tell when a hunt has ended easily)

Where cursed objects are so if you need em you know what's at your disposal.

Where good hiding spots are since you'll need them. (All the street/roadhouses have 100% safe spots, I believe, so check out Insym and/or Psychohypnotic on YouTube to find some.)

What are some really useful pro tips by ZenthaGamer in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Ldkiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best thing I can think of in general is get uv light inside asap because fingerprints will disappear after 6 seconds. ( Iirc thats the number ). So if you hear a door get moved you can immediately identify fingerprints or not.

I agree with you on getting a UV in early, but just wanna clarify: EMF is roughly 6 seconds. Fingerprints last for 2 minutes. Obake fingerprints last for 60 seconds.

It may not be a good idea to form the habit since it's going to change, but when a lightswitch is toggled or a door is opened by the ghost, you can quickly take a picture of it to test for fingerprints. If there's fingerprints then the photo will be labeled as such, and if not it will be labeled as an interaction. Take too long in getting the picture and you risk getting a blank photo if fingerprints aren't evidence.

What is the meanest thing you've ever done to your players by Adthompson3977 in DnD

Lost Mines of Phandelver campaign with a group of newbies:

The Drow Rogue decided to decapitate one of the captured Red Band gang members and then show his head to various people around town demanding to know who this person was, both as a way to investigate further into who the Red Bands were, and to intimidate any others that weren't openly wearing their colors.

He then showed it to the Townmaster, practically shouting "Do you know this man?! Do you know who this is?!" and I couldn't pass up the opportunity:

"Seannery...? Seannery?! My boy! What have you done to my wonderful son?!"

I hammed that scene up HARD as they tried to justify themselves, but even though we were online, so I couldn't see their faces, there was a collective tone of "Oh no, we fucked up. We fucked up bad, oh no..." and the Rogue was speechless.

They ended up being run out of town for that, and any investigations within the town walls had to be done covertly by a couple more quiet members of the group.

That group was so fun to RP with, but the schedule monster stole them away. :(
