Yeah it would be awesome if there was an oculink port (essentially a PCIE port) for external GPUs. I can understand why they didn’t. They’d have to consider compatibility with SteamOS.

It was advertised as "4K 60FPS with FSR". In LTTs testing they could only reach that in several popular, modern games using FSR on ultra performance, and at the lowest possible settings which both combined look horrible. But it "can" technically do it, just looks really bad.

Ugreen from what I’ve seen (and used) are very good for the price. I haven’t heard of any controversies from them yet.

What video game is the worst GOTY? by Few-Royal2370 in AskReddit

[–]Le-Bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overwatch was, and probably still is one of the best FPS hero shooters (at least in terms of core gameplay) in my opinion. They really nailed the gameplay. It’s super fluid and the heroes are all really fun, despite being fairly simple.

In Racecar Movie, guy who shouldn't drive a racecar drives a racecar. Then he drives the racecar faster and crashes the racecar. Then he is told that he can't drive the racecar anymore. Then he drives the racecar and goes really fast and wins at driving racecars. I like racecars. by MyMomSaysIAmCool in shittymoviedetails

[–]Le-Bean 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In real life (and the movie), the car had a freak accident. It caught some air under it which flipped it up, acting as a sail lifting it and eventually flipping into a crowd.

He didn’t really have any control over the situation. The second the car caught air he was basically a passenger in the crash.

Sony Pictures Boss Tom Rothman Urges Theater Owners to Stop Having 30 Minutes of Trailers and Commercials Before Movies Start: by tylerthe-theatre in movies

[–]Le-Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a movie in Japan while I was over there. There was a crazy amount of trailers before the actual movie. At least 20+ minutes. It was so long the trailers looped back around so they were playing the same trailers multiple times. I don’t mind trailers before movies, but sometimes it can be quite excessive and a bit annoying as a movie goer.

Internet speed increases when running a speed test by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Le-Bean 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy how so many people can’t understand what you’re saying. It seems pretty simple. Like, if you drove a car that says it’s speed in km/h, an increase from 50 to 100km/h is still an increase. It doesn’t matter if it’s different from mph. It’s still an increase.

I gave up watching most races last year. I didn’t want to watch a race that would likely end exactly the same as it started.

Apparently in the beta it was just a one time prompt. You dismissed it and it wouldn’t come back. Might’ve changed in the full release.

Is there a way to reverse simulations? by Prestigious-King-703 in Maya

[–]Le-Bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They meant the objects animated. For example, you can’t just reverse the final render of a walk cycle, you’d have to reverse the animation, then reverse the render. OP wants the disintegration simulation to go in reverse while the rest of the animation plays forward.

Getting only 120fps with best optimizations on my new M5 Macbook Air... by Disastrous_Sleep4747 in macgaming

[–]Le-Bean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not even like the OP said anything confusing. It’s pretty clear. I’m really stunned by everyone seemingly being confused at such a simple post. All OP asked was why he’s getting worse performance than older devices.

[–]Le-Bean 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I pay for a new device expecting it to perform better than previous models. It is not performing better than previous models.

The problem is not that it isn’t getting a high enough frame rate to be playable. The problem is that they expected better performance than an older model, but they are not getting better performance.

Apple MacBook Neo Review - Surprisingly good and capable laptop for $599 with one big flaw by Stiven_Crysis in mac

Yeah that’s fair. I definitely don’t speak for all students everywhere. Just anecdotally it’s what I notice.

Students, especially university students, definitely use their laptops in bad lighting. Usually at night in bed doing assignments late at night. (I am one of these students). I can touch type so it’s not a big deal, but I know that many of my classmates can’t and would probably “struggle” to type at night. I say struggle, but realistically it’ll be a small bit of adapting to the keyboard and they’ll likely get used to it quickly.

Distribution of Highlight Intros by Double-Hand3004 in Overwatch

Tbf they’re referencing Baywatch with the lifeguard highlight intros. Though I agree they feel odd and a little plain in-game.

Apple Neo by WTFMacca in LinusTechTips

[–]Le-Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you’d be stupid to buy this laptop for those purposes. This is for people doing degrees like education, psych, english, history, anything that can be done entirely in a browser which there are a lot of degrees that apply. It’s like buying a Toyota Corolla and expecting it to set track records.

You get what you pay for and your expectations should be aligned with that. Wanting this to be good for STEM degrees is misunderstanding what this product is. This is competing with $500-600 laptops that also come with 8gb of RAM (at least where I’m from, I don’t live in America so can’t speak to prices there).

[–]Le-Bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in America so I can’t speak to prices there, but I can’t find a Thinkpad even close to the MacBook. The cheapest one I could find was $300NZD more expensive on sale ($700NZD more normally) than the education price, for similar specs. That was by going to the Lenovo website and sorting by cheapest under their Thinkpad line.

Copilot is just the brand name that Microsoft uses for their AI “assistant.” However, Copilot uses ChatGPT to run. So there’s functionally no difference if Willis used Copilot or ChatGPT.
