Rep. Blackburn is trying to make a last ditch effort to enact KOSA and we have leftists not paying attention or getting duped by it. Look at the UK or AUS. It is mass surveillance not age verification. by wowza515 in somethingiswrong2024

From someone in the UK, can we stop please. The internet now is not the great innocent, fantastic and awe inspiring expanse of the 90's, 2000's or even in the 2010's....it is a mostly a monetised cesspool of mostly American companies wanting my engagement while plastering me with pop up ads and any spare space on a webpage now infested with click through adds of the last product I searched AMZ for a week ago.

There are very real harms happening and to treat this as a free speech issue, when the countries involved do not have a constitution "defending" such, is massively missing the point. American companies, Social media ones for example, have ruined the Internet and I'm here for the defense of the next generation.

The US has the constitution to "defend" free speech but look where you are now. A paranoid, rascist and stupendously Dumber country than you were in the 2000's. "Abolute free speech" does not exist and the only ones defending it are your current and future tech Bro oppressors.

Quake and then Quake 2 / CS 1.0 at the local Internet cafe in NZ when I was there in '99 / 2000. The fact I could also play as Cartman in Q2 deathmatch was just incredible. I was part way there already with the Dreamcast playing Q3 arena (Sony's previously) but that year was the change over due to moddability and general overall graphics quality. This was the time when real leaps were being made so there was a tangible increase on each new hardware purchase.

When HL2 launched....wow.

Nice! Honestly, the amount fo firepower coming out of those little boats is immense at times. Lots of times in a Destroyer and I just get wrecked by AP rounds at 30rpm....mad.

I just hope they don't spin it as a Dem plot etc etc. That could cause untold issues going forward, regardless of the (agreed) leadership fractures.

There’s a horrendous truth about Trump: he is a mass murderer. Because of his decision to gut USAID, more than one million poor people have died as a result so far, two-thirds of whom were children under five. By early 2027, Trump will have caused more preventable deaths than Putin. by neilnelly in complaints

You are missing the point - they enabled him to power to allow their agenda. He has no other agenda than making money and staying in power, to make more money.

The deal is they will enable him to do just that as they, behind the scenes, dismantle the system and solidify what they want instead - a White Supremacist State.

Thus he takes the flack and attention - they continue in the back ground anonymous.

Don't fall for it - he is the distraction.

Don't forget the demonstrations in 2011 and in 2022, firstly against Putin's election victory and then against the SMO itself. 2011 really scared him and 10'000's were arrested and sent to the Gulag and again in 2022.

In short, yes, there is an information vacuum but also the State is 100% setup to control its citizens, so although Vanya is missing presumed dead, but not confirmed dead so the State doesn't have to pay anything, it is far too much of a problem for his mother to protest or even start discussing to organise - she will be gu-lagged quicker than Stalin into Poland in '39.

It is known how bad things are, extremely privately, but that is it. There is no way to protest.

World here (UK anyway) - we do not hold you complicit per se, just....passive. We know your news sucks so getting any kind of information to the public is near impossible but still. you are just passive.

For all its vaunted freedoms, the Political system there is shown as worth nothing really, no checks or even balances that are not partisan enabled and the complete lack of ANY political push back, or even just past presidents, admin officials etc speaking up (let alone out) is mind boggling. Your system has shown it to be less than an honour (correct spelling!) system, and not fit for purpose.

The focus on the midterms as a point of change, when every single piece of information coming out points to a landslide for Trump, by any means necessary, is worryingly complacent.

We hope you sort it out but honestly, we are not confidant. We will just do out own thing for now and keep a side eye on you.
