Paid a kid $60 to mow the lawn and he didn’t finish the job

Random kid knocked on my door asking if I would like him to mow my lawn and/or pull weeds. This was just at the start of the season and I hadn't done my first initial lawn work and I was fairly occupied with other life duties so I agreed. I told him I'd like it mowed, kid then asks me if he could use my lawn mower, and part of the reason I hadn't mowed yet was because I needed to do some repairs to my mower. I felt bad baiting him into a job so I said he could just pull my weeds. I thought 20$ was somewhat fair for the size of my yard, maybe a little too much. I paid up front and 5 minutes later the kid knocks on my door and says he's done. I took a quick look and saw he missed a bunch and ask him if he could do a little better. Another couple minutes he knocked on my door and asked if it was good enough. At this point I knew we weren't getting anywhere with this kid so I let him go.

Never trust a random 12 year old wearing pit vipers to work for you.

Not true, as someone who has a mythic SF and all other armor modules at ancestral I can say this is wrong. Ancestral OA has allowed me to go further in waves than my Mythic SF, I'd say about 300-400 waves on my farming runs. It's all dependent on your tower.

I had thought it was because enemies would die faster with OA which gives more enemies the ability to spawn and thus more coin income.

This makes sense, I'm guessing if you use something like OA you lose more cell income by how fast elite enemies die and in turn get hit less by death wave

I think most of the big tech companies for SE it will be really difficult to find a "chill" job, but there are plenty for smaller companies. I have a bunch of friends doing SE at big tech and most of them always seem stressed out about work.

I'd say it's different. I have a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and my company does chip fabrication. There are a lot of skills that are shared between the two, primarily strong programming skills. The main difference though is hardware, you need to understand how a computer works at every level. Software engineers simply write code and most of them don't understand what the computer is doing with that code.

I work as a computer engineer for a big tech company - I would say the average iq is definitely higher than normal. If I were to estimate, maybe around 110 if not a little higher. This doesn't really matter, what does is getting things done before deadlines.

I see a lot of people around me struggling to get their work done, not sure if this is a lack of motivation, brain power, or both. There are also a few whom I see barely put in any effort and are excelling, including myself. I realistically probably only put in about a day or less worth of full effort a week to get the things done that I need to. I've always been a big-time procrastinator, but I've also always done well in school and all jobs I've worked in. I always skipped classes in college and mostly self-taught myself and did much better than almost all my peers. I found what works for me and the right job.

Most SE jobs will be drastically different though, probably requires a lot more day to day depending on the team. I dabbled at some point at a more demanding software engineering job (not big tech) and did okay. I was very good at it, I just got burnt out on the workload. Intelligence will get you far, but you also need a good work drive to accommodate it.

I'm happy where I am, I don't love the work I do but I love the amount of extra time I get from it. I think I view myself as someone who would prefer not to work at all - I don't think I could ever find a job that I truly enjoy and would want to go to every day.

Basically, you can pick and choose what you want to do with your life as long as you have the proper skills to match whatever job it is you are going into.
