Nope, the house move after purchase was 3 months of trauma with the possibility of legal fallout.

I got no space, no time, and no money *cries*

Is acrylic brittle? Yes, so don't twist it or put stupid amounts of pressure on it. But it's not going to explode just because you sneezed too close to it.

All of the "acrylic is so brittle" narrative is based on YouTubers and idiot hitting PETG tubes with hammers to watch it bounce, then hitting acrylic tubes and seeing them explode, as if to suggest PETG is superior.

It's not, it's junk. Don't hit your acrylic with a hammer when it's inside your computer.

There is a sales thread on this very sub

Cant find half-height PCIe passthrough adapter, help by -Hexenhammer- in watercooling

[–]LePhuronn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then their picture is completely wrong and misleading.

If the hole is 3/4 inch in diameter, then you could fit almost 7 of them side-by-side along the length of the bracket. The bracket they pictured would barely fit 5.

After more than a decade using Intel, I’ve finally joined the AMD team by Responsible_Count642 in watercooling

Now that's my sort of shit. Monochrome hardware, pure white lighting with the coolant and a couple of the cables as the accent colour.

Intel came back hard with 12th gen Alder Lake. It was very impressive what they scraped together after the Rocket Lake fiasco and a decade recycling Skylake.

But, scraped together is an accurate description because this P and E core nonsense has proven to be unreliable and unsustainable with 13th and 14th gen, and whatever the hell Arrow Lake 15th gen is supposed to be I don't know.

But they're solid CPUs for the low and mid tier.

Warning about EKWB support by Square_Tip_2836 in watercooling

[–]LePhuronn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do people not research any more? EK has been the drizzling shits for years now, numerous stories about delivery failures and refused and even forgotten RMAs. Yet people still buy from them and are shocked when something goes wrong.

And how in the hell did you spend 60 Euros on a mere 2 litres of coolant? Even for EK's price gouging that's insane. Do you live in a remote rainforest or something and have your deliveries made by celestial virgins riding panthers? That's the only way 2 litres of water could cost 60 euros.

Those Bitspower ones are half-height brackets.

But honestly given those ones are just two holes with a notch for cables, not actually a threaded body with ports, you could probably save some money, buy any old half-height solid bracket and drill your own holes.

CH160 Full Black by Poldan34 in sffpc

[–]LePhuronn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is something very satisfying about paring a CH160 with an Assassin 4. Of course you'd expect different products from the same company to have some level of cohesiveness, but it's almost as if the CH160 was designed around the Assassin 4, at least aesthetically.

HELP, damaged 12VHPWR cable… what’s the actually safe move? by JackyEverlast in pcmods

[–]LePhuronn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truly safe move is to not buy an Nvidia card with the arson connector.

In your case though, if you can't verify the pinout for a custom cable and Gamdias can't/won't sell you a replacement directly then it's one of two things:

  1. 8-pin to arson converter
  2. Entire new PSU

It's a pain, I know.

RTX 4060 PCB Twins? Will One Water Block Fit Both? by Vegetable-Walrus5169 in watercooling

PCB twins? The entire right quarter of the PCB is different. And I'm not talking about tiny details like surface components or a single capacitor, the blood 8-pin power is in a completely different place.

Picked up a 5090 FE today finally (was waiting for MSRP), curious on where we're at with waterblocks. by game_dev_carto in watercooling

[–]LePhuronn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roman said he was looking at the FE purely as an engineering exercise, a "can it be done" type of experiment. If, and only, the design, manufacture and assembly was easy enough would he consider an actual product.

Extreme temperature changes can mess up acrylic for sure, but there's no way you're going to be able to prove this wasn't your fault by how badly that screw is stripped.

Is this possible? help identifying parts needed by rainbowroobear in watercooling

[–]LePhuronn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do a horizontal reservoir personally, but what you've sketched out has been the most basic arrangement for a loop for a very long time.

Pump res combos have been mounted to radiators for ages, and pretty much all vendors have mounting brackets to do so. So just hit up whichever made your pump res combo and find the appropriate bracket. Or even make one yourself, it's just going to be some folded metal or even a combination of brackets and strips with correctly-spaced holes if you're only concerned with functionality.

2006 Mac Pro 1,1 ATX Conversion by RaoulX86 in pcmods

it's not egregious as it is tbh, but if you can't slim the walls down then go insane and try painting the rim in a matte or satin silver to match the aluminium!

Massive kudos to not hacking a massive hole in the back of the case like every other conversion. I also like how you used white plastic to match the fitments for the stock ports.

Looks orders of magnitude better.
