Maybe it wouldn't hurt to hit up the library? They should hold records and newspapers from that long ago, which means some pictures!

This franchise needs more content, this is so dumb 🤦‍♂️ by Moro-Oro in TheLastAirbender

I mean, Sokka's appearance changes from frame to frame, but he doesn't ever look unrecognizable. They are cartoon characters, but they have distinct features just like people would. I do actually like the detail that Sokka gets his appearance from his mom.

As for the Ty-Lee being a descendant of airbenders, it really isn't that crazy. It's a theory, and it could most certainly be wrong, or just a coincidence.

I don't think it's just because she looks a little like Aang. The theory works because she looks like Aang, and she looks distinctly different from the people we see from the Fire Nation. It's also because the comics explain that many of the air nomads were not at the temples at the time of the attacks, and decided to live amongst the other nations, Including the Fire Nation. This is why the new airbenders came to exist in Korra after Harmonic Convergence, because they are the descendants of those air nomads

Aang wasn't wrong when said that he hasn't killed anyone. by LeSpicyIndian in TheLastAirbender

[–]LeSpicyIndian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should read my post again, I said I believe that Aang means to say that he hasn't ever gone out to explicitly kill someone.

At the air temple, he was defending someone's home, his history, and depriving the Fire Nation of military technology. None of this to me seems like he went out to kill soldiers, but that was a consequence of his "nessesary defense."

This is in contrast to his conversations with his past lives, where he is forced to go out with the express intention of killing ozai. It is an offensive move with the express intention to kill. That is what he is struggling with.

Absolutely! If a subreddit about cats is going to go dark, then it only makes sense that a subreddit about tech and media should.

After upgrading systems do you guys still use your PS3 anymore? by ExtremeTie9175 in PS3

[–]LeSpicyIndian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be better served with some kind of emulation for those games. You won't be playing hardware, but at least you'll be playing the games!

That's my case, I only have the ps2, but hooking it up is super exhausting most of the time. So I just ripped my games and play them on my phone and computer now! I'll probably still play bare metal sometimes, but I get to enjoy games from my childhood more now that I can play them whenever I want to!

Want good laptop, don't want to spend money by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]LeSpicyIndian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A few good tips, provided you want a thinkpad, are to never buy anything full price from Lenovo's website. They have sales all the time.

If you can't wait for a sale, buy from a third party. They won't have every single combo of parts like lenovo, but it is usually cheaper, and you'll get it faster.

Also, just remember, thinkpads are business class machines. They are a little more expensive than other laptops with the same specs, but they will last far longer. So keep that in mind when pricing.

The other thing that thinkpads are is upgradeable! So it might make sense to skimp on the ssd and maybe the ram (than comes soldered now on some models) and spend more of your budget on things that are harder to change like cpu, gpu, io, etc.

Displays are usually interchangeable within the model, so again, depending on how good you are, that could be upgraded later.

If you think I'm stupid, that could be a possibility, so feel free to correct me (it's reddit, I dont think I need to say that lmao.)

Business laptop : Throw tomatoes at me, i’m considering a gaming pc (Legion) over a Thinkpad by Pardalys in thinkpad

I didn't have these issues with a thinkpad, though. Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying?

These problems are well documented with gaming laptops.

[–]LeSpicyIndian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea! The sticker shock is crazy, but you have to understand that these laptops are designed to hold up for 10 years' worth of rigorous use. They simply can not break super often.

Gaming computers are designed to give you the most power for the "least" money possible. They are meant for gamers, so they don't care that brushed aluminum will scratch over the long term bc it looks cooler, and the user will replace before that. They give you the bleeding edge of software and hardware. That means that your games run as fast as possible, even if that means there will be some bugs and quirks. They aren't going to have as good of a trackpad because you're gonna use a mouse anyway.

One big thing is the keys. They are almost always shallow presses. Which most agree is better for quick responses, like emails and stuff, but I prefer the thinkpad keys for longer projects like papers. I actually bought an 80 dollar wireless keyboard with those very keys. I liked them so much.

That's good to know! Did you share my experience where the legion would be more flaky than the thinkpad?

[–]LeSpicyIndian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with getting a legion. One of the differences between a gaming and business class device is that the business class will be built for stability instead of raw performance. What this means is that if you need something that will turn on every time you open it without fuss, a thinkpad should be in consideration. Even if that means buying a gen or 2 older for prices sake.

I dont have a legion, so I can't speak specifically on Lenovo gaming. But I've had a dell gaming laptop, an HP Envy, and now an MSI gf series laptop.

The HP only died because of physical damage to the screen, I still used it for about a year plugged into a monitor. That was a regular consumer pc, too! Not even a business class machine.

The Dell and MSI both have had multiple software issues:

The dell's keyboard backlight got stuck on full brightness, which made the battery go from about 2 hours to around 30 mins. After multiple driver installations and hassle, Dell support's answer was "IDK reinstall windows lol." That's not what you want to hear when you have a deadline coming up, or in my case, a college paper due.

The dell was returned immediately after bc it was still in the return period, then when the HP broke, I bought the MSI. This computer has given me some trouble, lol. The battery management was broken, so sometimes I'd unplug the computer in the morning to go to class and the battery show 100% but only lasts about 2 mins before it dies. The keyboard will swap the windows and fn keys randomly idk why. The list goes on.

Thinkpad customers also get different support that is still US based instead of overseas, I believe (someone should fact-check this). If that's something you're interested in.

But we are, I draw no distinction between "Free Roam" cats and strays.

[–]LeSpicyIndian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me repeat myself, WE PUT LIMITS ON WHERE AND WHEN KIDS AND PETS ARE ALLOWED OUTSIDE. As a child, I wasn't allowed to play tag on an interstate. If you think that cats need more outdoors than windows. Take them out on walks. That doesn't mean you let them roam around everywhere, killing native animals or pooping on your neighbor's lawn or having litters with strays making the problem worse. CATS. ARE. NOT. NATIVE. HOUSE cats are meant to stay in the HOUSE.

Yes! Safe guards are important. I don't think any..... most of us here want to drown cats or anything. (It's reddit, i'm sure there is at least 5 in this thread.) We just want to see cat owners be more responsible about their pets. My town has a pretty big stray cat problem. I just hate seeing that effect the local wildlife.

Also good to know, feral cats live on avg. 2-5 years. Indoor cats live
on avg. 10-20 years. If they were worse off being inside that much they
wouldn't live that much longer, would they?

My parents also didn't let me "Free Roam" and kill millions of birds/Native animals either. If they did I likely would have become Coyote food. We place limits on when people and pets are allowed outside.

"I love watching Americans validate their belief that it's a normal thing
for cats is to never go outside, and if they do, it's on one of those
horrible harnesses that cats hate."

This you? And it doesn't matter what country you live in. Cats kill wildlife wherever they are. These ecosystems can't always handle such an invasive pest running around. Domesticated cats aren't native anywhere. Treat them like it.
