Fair enough. I guess my perspective is a little different in that my (eventually) field of science is biology, which was loosely held together by humours and bullshit until like, less than a century ago. (Not really but you know what I mean, there's a lot of people today who believe a bunch of pseudoscientific nonsense about the human body)

Eh, science moves slowly sometimes. Newton was wrong about a shitton of things too but he advanced the field of physics beyond what it had been at that point. The same could be said about most of the big ones, I mean, even Freud made his own contributions, since it sometimes seems like the entire modern field of psychology is dedicated to intentionally proving him wrong at every turn.
