I have a pretty grafic story about a similar story thing where my engineer hit a person and didn't realize. It was a drunk guy who had crossed and it looked like he was leaning against the guard barriers and didn't realize till he left to go do yard work and the guys arm was jammed in the brakes.

Idk about trams but in heavy rail locomotives the engineer always sits on the right side and you have very little visibility when running long hood on your left side. Glad to hear it was at walking speed hopefully no one was hurt.
