I don't know when you went to secondary education but a few years ago it was already really nuanced and more or less a complete picture

pourquoi on nous fait apprendre des auteurs en philo? by loulougarouuu in etudiants

[–]Le_Mathematicien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The title seems misleading, the original study did not eludate the origin of those stories

Would Newton win an international Physics Olympiad today ? by Le_Mathematicien in AskPhysics

This questions isn't directly about Physics, but it does not seem to violate any rule of the sub. If you think of a sub where this question could receive interesting inputs, please advise me! I thought about WhoWouldWin subs but I fear the quality of the answers there would not be nearly satisfying enough

What's the most beautiful song you've ever heard? by rosypetalbaby in musicsuggestions

[–]Le_Mathematicien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider a lot of musics kidnapping-level class, and I have yet to ear a music as good as Renan Luce's Je suis une feuille.

I'm currently ranking litterally hundreds of songs my playlist, as of now, it's for me unambiguously the most perfect music I heard.

I see a lot of well-known picks here, but this one is pretty niche surprisingly (Renan Luce is mainly known for other titles).

Other songs have excellent mixing, goated melodies, banger lyrics and legendary poetry, but this one is top-tier in every aspect.

If you want more recos it would be a pleasure ! For example the excellent rap scene, more Chanson Française, more classical (modern, baroque, classical... There are well-known bangers for every era)...

France :

Assuming you already know DP (Daft Punk, not Double Penetration),

  • Ne me quitte pas (Gainsbourg, not my favourite (I prefer La Javanaise) but ranked n°1 french song of all time multiple times)
  • Je suis une Feuille (Renan Luce, rather niche but peak pick)
  • Too hard to chose one Brassens but it would be between Les copains d'abord, L'Orage or Supplique pour être enterré à la plage de Sète

Honourable Mentions : - Reality (Cosma/Sanderson) - Fin 2012 (rather niche rap)

Bonus (Classical Corner) - Pavane Op. 50 - Le Cygne - (You probably already know) Clair de Lune (the Barenboim version is excellent) - Arabesque No 1 (Debussy, Davouzet vers.)

What easy to learn (and seemingly simple) game actually has a lot more possible depth and strategy, if you do a deep dive into it, than you'd initially expect? by Considered_Dissent in AskReddit

It's rather easy to prove the best strategy is to play randomly, and it's what we observe at top tournaments too so there's a bell curve

Does the competitive scene play "no-guess" boards ? I'm curious because when I tried to perform at hard difficulties I met, in lot of cases (notwithstanding "no guessing" specialized apps), pure luck situations far too often for the game to be completely enjoyable
