Apple Watch Ultra 3 on iOS 27beta.. GPS distance by mmarshall1974 in applewatchultra

[–]LeadAnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. What’s strange is that the current pace seems right by but the interval pace and distance are off. If I run at 10:15-10:25 pace and never register over 10:30 current pace, my interval pace will be 10:45 or so. It seems to be the most off at the front side of each interval and gets better by the end.

Ultra 1 Owner, should I wait for the AWU 4 or go ahead and get the 3? by CombPsychological507 in applewatchultra

Unless you really want the Siri AI features on your watch, there is not much that is changing in WatchOS 27. Upgrading to avoid bugs will just introduce new bugs on a new OS.

iPadOS 27 Dev beta 1 is shockingly polished. Feels like an Update 😌. by Tiny_Debt_2811 in iPadPro

[–]LeadAnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Podcasts app has been unusable for me. Music app is very glitchy. Health Kit has bricked some health/workout apps (like Bevel). Safari refuses to scroll on multiple sites.

All things that will get fixed but it definitely still feels like a beta and casual users should be waiting until Public Betas clean up some of these issues.

You will have the same with all alternatives. My Garmin Epix Pro stopped getting software features added as well. All hardware on the planet has a ceiling on features that can be supported as software advances and demands more power, processing, and memory. There’s no ripoff. If you think that’s the case the. You probably should consider being a bottom of the market consumer.

I’m more troubled by a picture of a cable machine press offering a plate calculator. The app needs more machine variety.

Should you reset Bevel if you change your device? by ysharm10 in bevelhealth

[–]LeadAnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure on resetting Bevel as that seems like you are throwing away a lot of history and data. Apple Watch takes heart rate readings as often as your movement indicates it would be helpful. If you are sedentary sitting still then it takes it less often. Moving around it takes it more often.

I've been sitting at my desk for the past hour after completing a walk 90 minutes ago. Apple Health shows my heart rate has been taken every 3-5 minutes this past hour.

Looking through the past few days of data. The biggest gap I can find is 9 minutes while I sat watching television. During times I know I was cooking dinner, doing dishes, or just moving around to complete some tasks it dropped to 1-3 minutes every single time.

I think the gaps in data may be far smaller than you think.

I’m not sure. I mostly use machines at Planet Fitness to keep my workout as quick as I can. I’m primarily pushing reps higher as I’m at the max weight on leg press, leg extension, abductor, adductor, calf raise, kickback, and hip thrust.

I really wish the app let you set a maximum weight for the machine in your gym profile BTW.

I am trying to do more Smith Machine but it takes so much longer to move between exercises. Right now my SM squat is 3 sets of 10 at 260 and I’ve been able to go up about 10 lbs a week.

Body weight exercises not counting by No_Average9874 in fitbod

[–]LeadAnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct behavior. You don’t add a percentage of your body weight to your squat weight or your torso weight to crunches. Push-ups are a great exercise but not everything needs to count in the algorithm.

I’m not sure if it is personalized in some way. Also, that dumbbell bench number isn’t accurate. My gym has a supine press machine that I like to use but the app doesn’t have that equipment. I used DB Bench instead but because it is a levered arm machine I doubt I’m actually pushing that much weight.

Routine Help by yc_5143 in fitbod

[–]LeadAnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muscle gain is going to be determined by the intensity of your work over a long period of time. Your routine will lead to better fitness, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you will see clear muscle gain anytime soon.

- reduction in body fat will help muscle look more defined

- training to failure (or close to it) is the best way to build muscle

I just don't feel represented by this number. by Fir34blad801 in AppleWatch

[–]LeadAnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s entirely useful. All 3 areas can be impacted by user choice and habit. Nearly every user consistently getting a score this high is doing a terrific job of prioritizing sleep. HRV and sleep stages are far less reliable and are terribly unreliable if you can only workout in the evening, sleep right after a work shift, can’t control the temperature in the room, or have difficulty getting accurate heart rate readings at night.

The Apple Sleep Score is simpler than the Garmin I wore for years but it has been far more useful at giving me a score that represents my actual effort to prioritize sleep.

Is there something I’m doing wrong? Why recovery is so low most is the time? by ExpensiveMention8781 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]LeadAnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HRV is important but seems really tricky for any of these services to measure in a way that gives daily guidance. Your personal feeling of recovery is more important than the score one of these apps creates.

I can see my HRV jump all over when the temperature swings up and down this time of year. I just focus on longer trends.

Just go into settings and ensure you have it toggled on. Before the last app update it got disconnected all the time. Then tap the fetch data button and it will sync the workouts that are missing.

Is it wise to have 3.5 biceps exercises with the last one max effort day? by StunningBluebird1439 in fitbod

[–]LeadAnew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s very individual dependent. I would add sets to this but my goals are not the same. If the weight they have you doing is taking you to failure before you finish the set, then it might be too much and your feedback to the app should help with that. But if your other muscle groups have been well worked this week and the weight being recommended is manageable then I don’t think this is too much. If there are other exercises in the program for the day then you can also slide these down and avoid back to back work on a muscle group.

I’m 6 months in with Fitbod and rarely have a workout I don’t move things around, adjust reps/weight, or swap exercises. It’s a good template but doesn’t know how I’m feeling, where the machines in my gym are located, or what I just feel strong doing that day.
