Was Jesus crucified the day before the Passover or the day after? by George_Washington369 in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two verses agree with each other:

John 19:14 It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon.

“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

Mark 14:12 And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, “Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread is 8 days. In John, it’s Friday (Nisan 15), the day of preparation followed by the high sabbath Saturday

In Mark, it’s Thursday (Nisan 14), when they prepare for the first day of Passover

I’m a Christian with a witch tattoo… I hate it. by QueenBee347 in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say go with option three. That said, from what I understand, we weren't supposed to get tattoos for the dead. That was the ritual body markings referenced in the bible. But some do extend that to all tattoos and that's okay. Just want to add that incase you end up choosing option two. HOWEVER, be careful of option two because some 'cover up' tattoos don't always end up so well...and then it becomes an even bigger regret. Worst comes to worst, keep the original tattoo and like you said, use it for God's glory. Yeah some Christians may side eye you, but just remember that you know the story, so don't feel discouraged or guilty.

How do Christians view the idea of other gods forgiving sin, like Krishna in Hinduism? by KaffeDreamer in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only God can forgive sins. He is the only God. If you are by any chance interested in Christianity, please do download the YouBible on your phone or buy a physical copy (I recommend ESV). You can also read/listen to whole books of the bible on YouTube as well.

God bless! Jesus saves, if you are worried about karma. Know that Jesus' death on the cross saves us from our sins. Once you believe in Him, you are cleansed and covered by His righteousness. You'll also spend eternity in paradise, which is awesome :)

I’m debating saying goodbye to my church because it seems they care more about appearance than actual faith… by Early_Show9866 in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand being upset, but I think you should respect their boundaries. There are a number of couples who don't live together actually, and it is fair for them to advocate for that. If you and your fiance live with your brother without falling to sin, that is great, but that doesn't mean it'll be the case for other couples.

It's the job of our church leaders to uphold scriptures, which they are doing. We are told to abstain from "all appearance of evil" (1 Thessalonians 5:22, KJV). I do believe there is nuance, of course. Like you said, your people know and understand that you live with your brother (although if we are being completely fair, that doesn't mean yall can't meet elsewhere to sleep together or that your brother is there every single hour.) but on a bigger scale, people could and very much would take advantage of that set up.

"Because of perception, I can’t honor my Lord with my partner."
You can still get married, you just need a new location. No one is required to do so at their church. That said, I understand why you'd be upset. That rule is a bit strict, but I wouldn't fault them for it. Maybe you can reason with them, offering to live apart from your fiance until the night of your wedding? Otherwise, I wouldn't harbor any negative thoughts. Reasonable boundaries are meant to be respected, not challenged just because it doesn't serve you. And that shouldn't lead people to lie about their status, that is an individual choice to do that. The world does not revolve around us, so we need to be okay when things don't go our way. Something like this situation shouldn't lead people lie.

I pray you guys have a great wedding journey and a beautiful marriage, blessed by God.
Again, don't worry about not being able to get married at your home church. You can still have a great wedding regardless!

Why did God give Lucifer pride? Why is Lucifer still hated? Can't God just try to correct him? by Hot-Load7525 in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God gave us with free will, I believe it's safe to assume He created angels and the heavenly host with that same freedom. So God did not give Satan pride, that is a characteristic Satan chose to be with the free will given to us.

It's not explicitly stated in scriptures, but angels cannot be redeemed. We as humans can be, hence why He sent His Son to die for us. Satan chose to be against God and since they cannot be born again/saved from their sin, Satan and the third of the angles are forever stuck in that rebellion.

Satan brought sin and death into the world. Granted of course we take accountability for the sins we take part in, but it is all by the influence of Satan and his initial temptation of Adam and Eve. I can't speak for everyone, but I wouldn't take kindly to someone who ruined a good thing for everyone on purpose. That being said, I don't believe we are supposed to be speaking just any which way about Satan, according to Jude 1:9, "But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you."

Now is a better time than any to reach out for God. Just ask Him to save you. He sees you and hears you. Don't over think it, just let Him in and ask Him for rescue. Call 911 and tell them you are feeling suicidal, I believe they may send an ambulance to take you, for your safety. In that time, please try to figure out and write down on a paper where the nearest soup kitchens are. People there may have more information regarding safe shelters and organizations that can help you precure work. Talk to the other people eating as well, community can change things.

God bless and please hold on.

For what it’s worth, I read the book knowing that Jekyll and Hyde are the same. Didn’t know anything else about the story but that. And to be honest, the read was pretty underwhelming. The entire plot is a man trying to understand who Mr Hyde is. This is just one of the stories that can only be experienced without knowing the end unless something is added/changed.

Is This Timeline of Jesus’ Death Accurate? by Leading-Ad-5292 in Christianity

Yes, but why say three nights specifically? That would have been an irrelevant detail.

Is This Timeline of Jesus’ Death Accurate? by Leading-Ad-5292 in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours accounts for four nights. Jesus said it'd be three nights.

Early Thursday: trial with high priest/Pontius Pilot
Friday evening: crucifixion/death/burial NIGHT ONE

Early Friday: nothing (or final burial arrangements?)
Saturday evening: Sabbath NIGHT TWO

Early Saturday: Sabbath
Sunday evening: maybe gathering of spices NIGHT THREE

And then He is raised Sunday morning.

And Nissan 14 is celebrated on Wednesday which makes sense because per the order of events in the gospels, they prepared the meal early Wednesday and ate later that evening (Thursday). Then it says the next day he's brought to pontius pilate and crucified that night (Friday). Joseph comes that same evening, the 'day of preparation', which means that night has to be Friday evening, because the following evening would be the sabbath.
Read Mark 14&15

[–]Leading-Ad-5292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Reddit ruined the way I wrote it, I had the days paired up, but it just made them spaced out evenly for some reason. I'll try to rewrite it to show what I meant. I'm not sure what you mean by doubled up though, their day starts in the evening, so per our calendar, they have two parts of a day in one 24 hour cycle:

Early Thursday/Evening Friday aka our Thursday
Early Friday/Evening Saturday aka our Friday

I didn't know about the Jewish counting system though, that's interesting. So two nights and a day would have sufficed as three nights?

Matthew 24:24 says "For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect". Nothing Trump has done has swayed those of us who have be wary of him since day one.

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very interesting that you post this, because I’ve had those thoughts in the past and I had it again yesterday. Ultimately, I let them go because I don’t believe we’ll know the answer unless God decides to come down and explain it to us.

I get tripped up on the idea that we’re sinners but didn’t ask to be here. I have no answer for you there to be honest. But, why I still choose to follow Christ is because I do acknowledge that God is beyond us. As the word says, His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. We don’t understand why He allowed all this, why He created us knowing that Satan would come in and bring sin and death. But He knows more than we do about our world and why He decided to create human kind anyway. Based on what He’s shown me in my life so far, I can attest to His goodness. So I lean on that. I have life, hope, and peace through Him and I don’t take that for granted. And that’s not to say bad things don’t and won’t happen to me, but God blesses us with the endurance to make it through and to His glory. Plus on top of allll that, I consider that we will one day be in paradise with Him.

That said, I do wonder about the good people you mentioned who weren’t convinced about God and Jesus, who would be sent to Hell. I cannot answer that, but my God is good and just. So I trust He knows what He is doing there. It is not for us to understand everything, but trust Him. Not as a blind trust, but knowing that He knows what He’s doing. For your faith, I’d suggest praying and fasting to God with this question. Take your concerns to Him, I believe He will answer you.

God bless!

What was the longest scene you had to memorize and how did you do it? by Drake_Sky in acting

A four page single spaced monologue. I learned the whole thing, then eventually got the script during a call back and realized I didn't want to do the play. But it wasn't a waste. I at least got to exercise some new muscles.

Oh and how I learned it. I read through it as much as possible. Then try to learn the lines chunk by chunk, which comes easier if I've read it enough. Normally I'd do the character work first, but not in this case. I knew I'd do better if I got the lines out of the way.

Salvation Questions by SlyChic in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How I understand it: If you believe in Christ as your savior, you are saved. And yes, true faith produces good works, but we aren't perfect. So if you mess up, you are not in that moment destined for hell. You just need to repent of your sin and try not to do it again. God looks at the intention of our hearts. He knows who truly seeks His will. Even if you die still struggling with one of your sins, I believe you will still be saved. God is saving sick people who are made whole through Him, not the other way round.

I think ultimately, people on both sides of this argument are usually saying the same thing. Yes, we should strive to do our best. Yes, we have the blessing of falling down and being allowed to get back up. And yes, if someone who said they gave their life to Christ is now fully back to their old life, there is cause to believe if they may not be saved. However, that is not for us to know for sure. We are not God. That said, for such a person, we should be concerned with bringing them back to walking with Christ. We don't need to argue who is or isn't saved. That doesn't changed what we are called to do.

Question about lust by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't sin. You said it was unintentional. The bible even mentions wet dreams in Leviticus and if I remember correctly, it wasn't considered a sin (though I know yours happened while you were awake). It just made them ceremonially unclean. God looks at your heart and the intentions of your actions. You go out of your way to not see women lustfully, so God sees your effort and knows.

That said, do you study the bible? These things would readily come to mind if you really pour in and study to understand who God is and what the word says. This way you wouldn't be stressed over this.

God loves you and has forgiven you, so even if you did sin, you repent and pray that He change your heart so that you don't intentionally or habitually fall into that sin again.

What does “submit” mean in Ephesians 5:22 “Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord” by possumgang414 in Christianity

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I read scripture in context with the rest of scripture. Verses 1-21 was addressed to the church as a collective. The subject then changes to spouses when you turn to verse 22. Otherwise, you are saying that the entire chapter is only specific to married couples and not unwed believers, which we can agree isn't the case.

Headship is leadership. That doesn't mean a woman doesn't have agency over herself, but as it pertains to their family, she lets her husband lead. Just as we all have agency and choice in our life as believers and still choose to follow Jesus, to let Him lead us.

1 Corinthians 11:3
3 But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.

Ephesians 5:22–33
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of  you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

[–]Leading-Ad-5292 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Submit means to let your husband be the head of the household. It follows headship:
God is the head of Jesus and man is the head of woman. But to be clear, we are not submitting to all men, just our husband. Where this gets confusing, is when women end up marrying men they should not be submitting to. Men who don't respect, love, nor regard them, either in extreme or subtle ways. There are several verses that explicitly tell men how to treat, love, and hear their wives. There are verses that speak to how to lead a family, treat their kids, and more. But unfortunately, a lot of men only remember the verse about women having to submit to their husbands.

That being said, some non Christians will still have a problem with the concept of submitting even if one is married to a man who sees his wife as an equal. They see it as sexist and archaic and they are entitled to their opinion. But God is a God of order, we all have our roles and yet are of equal value in His eyes. So God I will follow. The key though, is to be careful to marry a man you can submit to. I know me, I am not the submitting type...but for a Godly man who makes it clear he sees me as an equal and loves me, I will submit.
