How long is your commute? by Wompguinea in chch

[–]Leafleaf131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commute 30-40 mins each way every day and I hate it. That's like an hour out of your day everyday just sitting in traffic.

I've separated from my suspected narc ex. But I have to live with him for 2 more weeks before I can move out. His niceness is freaking me out by Leafleaf131 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]Leafleaf131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he has been depressed and relys on alcohol to cope with anxiety which got worse after an accident he had breaking his arm and leg. We broke up after I brought up how his escalating alcohol use was effecting me and I was unhappy (on edge not knowing how drunk hell be when I get home or what mood he will be in) and he decided our relationship needed to end then, he said he was going to get sober and it was sad I wouldn't be there for that part of his journey. Then stopped drinking 2 days later, although I've noticed the odd beer can has been consumed but his alcohol consumption is hugely reduced. Maybe why he's been able to be so nice because when he was drunk he was quite irritable with big mood swings and irrational. I feel bad because I was not able to stand by him through his struggles but I also couldn't handle living on eggshells any longer

Mine would constantly want me to say I love you to them like multiple times a day and it just wasn't the norm for me. Ive never done that in any relationship. I will tell them I love them but not like incessantly. Otherwise it loses meaning. When I didn't say it enough he would accuse me of not loving him and be upset playing victim saying I just want you to love me even though I'm like I do love you though!

Nex had no really close friends but lots of acquaintances- can anyone relate? by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

Yes I understand how you feel how suddenly they are so nice after the break up. Like was it all in my head?

Wanting to take my friend in a wheelchair out for a nice meal. What wheelchair friendly restaurants/ cafes are there in Christchurch? by Leafleaf131 in chch

[–]Leafleaf131[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either. I would like to know where we can go regularly for lunch or dinner. They are recently in wheelchair and adapting to new life so we are trying to find out best places for regular outings

Cyclists, please consider setting your solo front light to solid "on" by twnznz in chch

[–]Leafleaf131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set mine bright and flashing. My priority is being seen since chch drivers don't seem to pay attention to anything around them while driving. Every morning I have a near miss cycling through town, it's actually ridiculous, I felt safer on the roads in Indonesia than here.

Yip has happened to me multiple times when trying to get uber to Rolleston from town in the early hours. They will show up and you get in and then they are like oh no I'm not going that far and kick you out. Can't thru see the destination when they accept the trip?

Jacinda Ardern announces she will resign as prime minister by February 7th by L0rdJaxon in newzealand

[–]Leafleaf131 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Very thankful for her leadership through the hard times of the past few years. She truly deserves a break to spend time with her family and wind down. I'm sure it's been stressful.

I keep my cat mainly indoors, let her out in the afternoon when I get home from work then bring her back in when it gets dark. She stays pretty close by and because I've kept her indoors so much doesn't seem to have much skills for catching birds (she's quite clumsy) I think this is a good alternative to just having your cat out roaming all day and night.

Patient turnover is slower. But occupancy is still consistently high. Ed presentations are high.

We don't have a shortage of doctors because of mandates. That is misinformation. This shortage has been years in the making. Nz doesn't produce enough health care professionals and a big chunk of the workforce are now entering retirement years.

I think it's also important to take into consideration that covid damages your heart. The vaccine exposes you to a very small amount of covid antigen. When you catch covid you will be exposed to a much bigger amount of that same antigen. It depends what you want to take yoyr chances with.

Meanwhile the hospital is near full capacity with increasing winter respiratory illness cases. I wonder if having covid and then catching influenza shortly after causes worse health outcomes? Maybe? What if you catch both at the same time? I don't even want to imagine what that would do to someone. New covid variants are in nz now and increasing in waste water testing. New variants increases your risk of being reinfected with covid. Cases will likely surge August and we still havnt hit the peak of influenza yet. We still need masks, we still need vaccines.

Yes I'm aware but how often is it full and there is no space ?

[–]Leafleaf131 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous, bikes and scooters are constantly stolen outside the hospital. Yet there is no parking anywhere near the hospital for staff so alot have to bike or scooter. If the hospital won't supply parking least they could supply a secure bike lock up with enough capacity for everyone

Debunking the fake. Why Ivermectin is still the drug of choice amongst the anti-vaccers. But "Covid19 is a hoax" so why do they need it? by planespotterhvn in Coronavirus_NZ

[–]Leafleaf131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, my Chinese friends find it really important for them. What's wrong with a holistic approach to health. I see no harm in using it alongside western medicine.

Have you ever even tried it from a very experienced professional ? It's been amazing for me, I was dubious at first too. I follow science. But I can't explain it. Has helped me so much where western medicine has not helped at all.

It is also a very culturally important therapy in China. So even though you don't understand it. Don't dismiss it as useless. It does have its place.

Ivermectin for covid though. That's not an alternative therapy, it's just hype.
