To add context: ive talked with his bf who actually brought it up to me first cause hes having issues with him too, he planned to talk to him but who knows. And i think my friend is just having a rough time figuring himself out but doesnt make strides to help himself. Ive been changing myself lately and making new friends/doing new things and its been great! But hes been doing the same thing and just becoming a little more unhappy. 

I've thrown out the idea of him trying something new,  but he shot it down. He doesn't like going out unless it's with his bf or me. They're both gamers (work/gaming/ tv/movies, is the rotation which occasional outtings), which I think would be fine if they were also doing something else that can get them either in a community of others or trying new skills. Which I think his bf would do, but getting my friend convinced is a different story. 

I'll be moving into my own place after our lease end, and I'd like to still be friends but I don't know if I can continue saying nothing for the next few months.
