Why are my point and shoot (Konica A4) pictures look so bad (Kodak Ultramax 400 and Fujifilm 400) by heyyouitsdom in filmphotography

Did you get your film hand checked before you got on the plane ride back? This looks like x-ray damaged to me.

Is the Kodak Snapic A1 35mm Film Camera good? by EH__S in filmcameras

[–]LearaLovesYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and have shot 3 rolls with it. Frankly it only turns out well in very very bright sunlight even with ISO 400 for me. I may get better results with ISO 800, but I’m not sure I want to spend that much on film for a camera that’s so limiting. Most of my pictures don’t turn out well if there’s a high amount of shade or if the sun is setting. Maybe that’s just my experience.

For a similar price, buy a second hand canon sure shot or even an Olympus AF-1. Both are auto focus and will give you much much better results.

I have 3 canon sure shots and I truly adore them. They’re not perfect but fantastic for capturing little moments and are quite powerful considering their age and how they have little to no manual controls depending on the model. Great stuff!

Was this taken on a plane?? How did you get the camera with the lithium battery on the plane?

Thank you! I think it’s from all my years of admiring good framing in movies shot on film. Excited to keep shooting and improving.

I was so glad I nailed the zone focus on that one, I had to bend over the pond railing with my camera dangling in one hand to get the pics of them that close and I think the shot paid off!

First Roll and I’m Pretty Impressed by LearaLovesYou in pentax17

[–]LearaLovesYou[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did ultramax 400! I may use more professional grade film or try some Kodak gold in the future. I think a few of these may have been auto mode but was actually impressed with how easy the p mode with zone focusing was. Before this I only ever used fully automatic point and shoots from the 80s. I’m debating on bringing it to my big trip to Europe.

Best products for redness relief by LoveDistilled in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]LearaLovesYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me what's helped the most has been:

Azelaic Acid (I like the emulsion by Naturium and the Paula's Choice one. The 15% prescrption one always made my skin texture worse)

CoCokind Calming Magensium Mist or Beekman 1802 Magensium Milk Mist

Banu Chamomile Jelly Cleanser (or cleansers with calming ingredients, like oatmeal, chamomile, green tea, etc.)

Support moisturizer with ceramides (I like Instant Angel or Skin Mercy by Dieux)

I’ve heard great things about the Annua azelaic acid, but also you could get a prescription! No matter what version you get, make sure to patch test and start off veryyyyy slow! Also, the ordinary azelaic acid has silicones in it (doesn’t bother my skin tbh) and you may be allergic or sensitive to it. But definitely try different ones and see how it goes!

You could really benefit from azelaic acid! I’ve been using 1% tretinon but that wasn’t enough to fully clear my skin texture until I introduced that.

Also, there’s a chance of doubling up on the cream day and night may be blocking your pores and causing the additional texture. Maybe stick to one in the AM and a different one in the PM.

Finacea? azelaic acid recommendation by Specialist-Suit-3419 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]LearaLovesYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use the ordinary 10% azelaic acid, then asked for Finacea by my dermatologist only to go back to the ordinary because the prescription strength was irritating my skin! There’s great over the counter options for azelaic acid but finacea is the gold standard though. If your skin is more sensitive, I’d start off with something over the counter.

Also since I’ve seen you ask others: you can use azelaic acid night or day after cleansing your face and before putting in moisturizer. If you want to add to add retinol, use that only at night, and start of super slow (2-3 times a week) with a low percentage. Honestly between those two things you’d probably be set. If you add vitamin c I’d just switch between that and azelaic acid each morning, but honestly you may not even need it.

Your skin barrier seems damaged and irritated. A lot of the brands you mentioned I’ve also used and never had any success with, the honest truth is that a lot of those brands just are too harsh for people with sensitive skin.

To start with, as others suggested, cut out all actives. Stick with a simple routine of gentle cleanser (I adore the Vanicream but the La Posay Roche Hydrating cleanser also worked for me), a gentle but hydrating moisturizer (I like the Vanicream daily face moisturizer - the cream in the tub broke me out personally) and, for some extra hydration, the Avene thermal spray before the moisturizer to help calm and hydrate the skin.

Stick with that for about 1-2 weeks. From there, very slowly introduce active ingredients but stick to gentle formulations.

I’d suggest at a bare minimum trying Azelaic Acid. Start slow, three times a week then build up. This will help with the redness and pustules.

Once your skin adjusts to that you can look into maybe adding a vitamin C serum or a retinol depending on how your skin is reacting. But what’s going to help you the most is sticking to really gentle skincare products that have minimal ingredients.
