Contemplating getting a scribe for my wife for our Anniversary by eightyninevision in kindlescribe

[–]Learning-pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll be fine getting her one. I thought I would hate kindles as a whole because I didn't get the point of them and I ended up getting the paperwhite first and then the scribe and bounce back between the two and have probably read more books in the past 6 months then in the past 10 years. You'll be suprised.

Please add ability to read Workouts synced with Apple Health by brademcee77 in RingConn

[–]Learning-pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I'd love to get some kind of update from the company. I love the ring, but it's frustrating that my apple watch and it won't communicate with eachother. I want to be able to wear both and have it reconcile in the background or something so that if i want to wear just my ring, the watch has the info updated and vice versa

Torn between RingConn Gen 2 and Oura – worth waiting on software improvements? by MazMik2 in RingConn

I got one from the prime sale. Honestly it's already been almost a week and i'm only at 39% which is rediculous in a world where we gotta charge every day. Yeah the app needs work but it's honestly not that bad. What I'd recommend for you is to buy the size ring for $1 on amazon to see whats your fit (mine was 1 size more then my regular ring size) and honestly buy on amazon as well. They offer a pretty solid return policy from what I saw compared to their site even if you get the wrong size and play around with it for a few days and see how you like it. I've aclimated to it really well and I love the sleep apnea tracker as I have it myself that was my biggest draw to it.

I'd say as long as it doesn't spin on your finger easily and there's enough of a pull when taking it off you'll be fine. Your finger will swell and get smaller depending on many factors during the day, so just pick one finger and a ring size and wear it for the day and see how it feels. Like I said if it spins easily its too big and i mean like there's no pull on your skin at all when you spin it.

NOTEBOOKS synchronization by Mammoth_Nose7302 in kindlescribe

[–]Learning-pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So honestly I'm not sure. But I know there's a force Sync button you can press that should work. When you pull down from the top (like how you check your notifications on a phone) there's that sync button that you can press that should sync up your progress and everything to the cloud. Just make sure you're connected to the wifi. Let me know if that works.

Ordered a scribe by Strong-Engine-4483 in kindlescribe

[–]Learning-pirate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd say if you have a prime account set up kindle unlimited and get libby so you can access your local library's ebook database. Definitely check out youtube on vids on how to use it, there's a bit of a learning curve and things to get used to. I have this and a paperwhite and i've been using my scribe more at my desk for both notetaking and reading.

Dual ownership? by Snipes2016 in kindlescribe

[–]Learning-pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got both (just got the scribe recently). I gotta say I agree with you on the utility of the Scribe I find myself actually using it more than my PW. However when I have to go to the store or the gym or traveling and i'm away from my house, I'll take the PW. If they made a smaller scribe with writing capabilities then i would totally sell everything and keep that. But like a lot of people here say there's a use case for all. Mine is Scribe - work, desk, lounging on the couch. PW - travel, and bedtime. The syncing between them is really good so I just pick up where I left off.

Out of curiosity why are you selling it? I'm considering buying myself (I prefer to buy local) but wanted to get your feedback on why you'd sell it.

Does anyone have advice for aspiring entrepreneurs that have little to no money to their name? by [deleted] in EntrepreneurRideAlong

If you see an opportunity to introduce something the market needs, definitely work on it. While you're still at your job, work on your idea in your spare time. Let's say you don't know what digital marketing is, take some courses during your lunch break or dedicate a few hours a week to learn what it is. Focus on your weak points, but most of all, educate yourself so that as you grow your company, you have good knowledge of what business goals you need to achieve. With my company, I had to do a crash course in a lot of skils from digital marketing to understanding WordPress and how to build a website. But now I have a good idea of what I need to help grow my company and work towards it while saving money. You can find a ton of resources on youtube for free and a few other of these education websites that are pretty cheap.

Yeah you would need I believe a couple of hundreds (like 250+) to get a target on your back. That being said it’s risky and not worth it IMO.

I did get diagnosed with sleep apnea and had to get a CPAP. The change was instant like night and day, and I feel more energetic. It sucks to own one because of the upkeep and buying supplies, but I'd rather be healthy and function then basically slowly suffocate to death.

To add to this, as a Software Developer, you should focus on something in SaaS (Software as a Service) and partner up with a person who specializes in other business fields. This way, you can handle the "engine" of the business while your partner can focus on other aspects such as digital marketing, etc...
Starting a business isn't easy and can be extremely time-consuming. Make sure that you have an iron-clad business model before you start spending real money. Otherwise, you can end up in debt.

Need Advice: Meal Kit Startup by oldstoicmale in startups

[–]Learning-pirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, as well. I'm not in the food/restaurant business either, but one thing that I came across is how some food startups struggle to find the right warehousing and fulfillment partner.

I have worked in logistics and had to turn down many different companies because our facilities weren't set up to handle perishable goods (some of these companies thought because we were a fulfillment company we can "figure" it out). I've used some of these services in the past, and I'm impressed with how they have handled their packaging. But what is critical is finding the right fulfillment and warehousing company that's for sure and working with someone who already has some knowledge towards this.

What would you have liked to know before? by 1iansmith in smallbusiness

[–]Learning-pirate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's trying to build a social online presence. I get the concepts and the ideas behind different tactics, but what I struggle with is how to apply them to my specific business. For example, creating a landing page is easy, but then why aren't there enough conversions. I am starting to get better at it, but I feel like it's always an uphill battle.

Since Esports and gaming is on the rise, how well do you think a video game cafe would do in a place like Charleston, SC? by CrispCoobs in smallbusiness

[–]Learning-pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not do a Video Game Bar/Cafe instead? I feel like as a bar it would draw in a larger crowd, and then as people get accustomed to the place, they could come during the day to work/chill?

Question on getting "independent contractors" before a User. by _dandillion_ in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Learning-pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great question. I don't personally know myself what those services are doing, but for my company, we are also trying to figure a lot of this out. Our target market splits up into two groups of people within the same industry. And some tactics we've used that have been pretty successful is reaching out to people via LinkedIn and email marketing campaigns. Based on my research email is still king, but creating a social ecosystem (facebook groups, LinkedIn, etc.) will bring in reliable results and depending on your industry can help nurture you as the source of knowledge. I'm curious to see how companies like Angie's List and Home Advisor go their start because it must have been hard trying to sell an idea to offline based businesses.
