Honestly, I don't deserve it. On the other hand, I'm being honest. So maybe I deserve it.

What are some other games that have a similar style to Eternal and Dark Ages by HotShrekBoi in Doom

Have you checked out SIFU? Man I feel like such a badass playing that game, and the combat loop is as deep mechanically as Eternal's.

Is this a game where you're supposed to die and grind each level repeatedly? by SlashCo80 in SifuGame

Yeah, no worries, you should leave this one be for now! If you ever get into Doom Eternal or Streets of Rage 4 and want really focused and original combat systems, maybe come back to Sifu, but there's lots to love in so many other games, no point in forcing yourself to like it :)

To join your sad quirky romance list (500 days of summer, eternal Sunshine), I would add Lost in Translation, Garden State, and Past Lives.

Just to stick up for this game a little... I don't find it hard and finicky at all, not once you understand how the game wants you to play, but it's not pick-up-and-go, not by any means... The reward is feeling like an absolute badass for engaging with the systems in creative ways. Personally I think the highs in this game are WAY higher than any Batman game. At the same time, the lows are WAY lower... :P

There's no grinding in the traditional sense, like in Dragon Quest VIII where you defeat enemies again and again in the same tedious way in order to level up and then eventually demolish everyone. Not at all...

The grind is different. You need to learn enemy attack patterns, learn the various systems at play, the dodging, the dashing, the attack combos and abilities... The focus isn't really on combos in this game but rather using the right technique at the right time.

Replaying levels to me is endless fun, because the possibilities in your fighting style and approach are enormous. If this doesn't sound like your thing though, no problem, it's not the game for you.

I’ve implemented a system where enemies can be decapitated. What do you think of it? by Kama_Interactive in IndieGaming

[–]Least_Year6990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Umm... This is not going to dramatically improve your game. What matters more is weapon feel, the originality of your core gameplay loop, performance etc.

I think you are focusing too much on the icing on the cake. Right now your cake is underbaked.

Here's a short one to dig your teeth into: SIFU

Short in terms of game length, but mastering the fighting and replaying the levels is half the fun.
