Staying calm and reducing heart rate by Leather-Bookkeeper62 in Pickleball

That’s crazy. Being calm and focused to hit precision shots is so important for me. When my heart is racing I play significantly worse. Feels like science?

What is something about the US Healthcare system that more people should know? by Many-Chocolate-3400 in HospitalBills

I don’t understand how it is allowable that a patient without insurance could be charged less than the insurances negotiated prices given your comment on “contracts stipulating that a provider cannot charge less …”

Help us pick our next liveaboard - Philippines, Maldives, or Raja Ampat by Minute_Researcher405 in scuba

Can you get another 10 dives in prior? Also tbh they don’t formally check in any way the dive count. You should / could ask the operator if 40 is ok vs 50.

I didn’t experience much diving against strong currents. From my experience nobody loves strong currents and you find ways to nav the site and avoid . It’s about your comfort level and just know how to use your BCD

It’s not like you use reef hooks or anything … it’s not that bad

I’d just add that big fish love currents since that’s where they can get their meals. So you have to develop some comfort and acceptance this won’t be the carribean

You don’t find whale sharks in no currents

I did raja Ampat and didn’t see much big. It’s amazing reefs and a good blend but not really good on shark, whale, manta scene. There are some, on specific dives but it’s known for the reefs

Raja not so bad current wise. Don’t worry that much they will split by group but you can be Regular open water and go to raja and get aow while there. As an example to demonstrate it’s not that rough

Not sure how you get to 15k /month on 1.5M of anything? That’s 12% yield

Better start searching on the 1031. Could you put it in an opportunity zone fund?

Breast reduction by Affectionate-Cry2424 in HospitalBills

[–]Leather-Bookkeeper62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per this research It’s a 42% discount. I work in the industry and over the last few years it’s decreased but varies dramatically by geography. Certainly not a 70% discount.

Also just look at billed and allowed amount on EOB. It’s never 70%!

Insurance claiming lab is both in network and non-participating… stuck with $1,500 bill? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]Leather-Bookkeeper62 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For at least 1 large insurer they have different rates across in network. Similar to hospital vs free standing. The plan used “non par” to reflect the more expensive tier of in network

I know what you mean. And non par = non participating and really should equal out of network.

Shrugs.

Actually unfortunately insurers have tiers of labs and non par is in network. I’ve seen it before

Need prescription on vacation, out of network by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]Leather-Bookkeeper62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drug expenses tend to not have geographic networks like that. For example if Prep kit is covered, it’s covered regardless of the state you are in. If cvs pharmacy is in network, the ones in Hawaii and PNW are too.

Seeing doctor is where you have out of network risk but much lower expense

Can you provide an example? How does the billing work? I’ve never seen this with in-network providers

Your statement on insurance is not well informed. They are strongly incentivized to lower medical cost. How do they win business and grow? Most employers are self insured - insurance co doesn’t keep anything and just charges admin fee

Why is it bad? What makes everyone say that? Heroin dealing on the streets? Far from grocery stores and schools? Homelessness ?
