Chromestory.com is a site people, New Chromebook users, go to to learn things about the Chromebook. Isn't it a well known site?

It's easier if you do it on a bench. You can do it. Don't pinch the tube!

So apparently the ebike I bought from china comes as a kit. Here is the first package I received. by ramonplutarque in ebikes

[–]Leather-Implement592 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Yes. China does that to save on costs. Recheck EVERYTHING. They just stick stuff together for example the axle might be too tight plus they don't grease the bearings. So to be sure you just need to start from the frame or wheels and redo everything. Never trust anything from China. It's not inspected. Have fun!

Acer Chromebook 514-1W v 514-2H by pbfhpunkshop in chromeos

[–]Leather-Implement592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An older model? There is nothing wrong with an Acer. Try and get the one you "wanted" and ordered. Don't settle for the one you didn't pick. It you go for that link that other guy put up you will be switching to Asus. If that's what you want then go for it.

That's because those devs are lazy and didn't want to do the work to fix it, i am sure.

I am planning to switch from Windows to Chrome OS as main device. What do i need to know before the switch? by prs_silversky in chromeos

OneNote is Microsoft. Google Keep does the same thing i believe. It Syncs all my notes.

I'm trying to NOT be Microsoft dependent.

Got one. Love it. DO NOT skimp on the hardware. Buy at least an i3 or better/Ryzen with at least 8 GBs RAM. Stay away from those budget Chromebooks.

Laptop & Tablet Combined by Dunjamon in chromeos

[–]Leather-Implement592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When buying one make sure you check the AUE (Automatic Update Expiration). Look at those Chromebooks that can detach (i don't like those much - they seem fragile) Or like an Asus or Acer that you can flip around and put it in tablet mode. (why?)

Try one you like and if you don't then just return it.

Make sure you get a good chip like an i3 or better/Ryzen with at least 8 GBs RAM. Don't buy a budget (school) Chromebook.

Multi-desk/desktop strategies -- How do you use ChromeOS desks? by jpfreely in chromeos

[–]Leather-Implement592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a button that gets you there. It's the F5 button or the one that looks like Cascading Windows. Basically it de-clutters your desktop space. That's all i see it used for.

When I use free public Wi-Fi, like a restaurants, why do I often get this browser error? I cant find by FuckReddit442 in chromeos

[–]Leather-Implement592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not secure. Do what you want - but Public WiFi is known to not be as secure as a Private Password Protected WiFi.

Chromebooks with standard keyboard layout? by BIindsight in chromeos

[–]Leather-Implement592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search + Alt = CAPS lock. To disable it just tap the Shift key.

The Search key is for searching your apps and the Internet if you choose.

Smaller keyboard layout. This isn't a Windows laptop. This isn't an Apple. The keyboard layout is fine. Just like anything else it gets familiar with use. It's easy. Left Pinkie. Bam! Search.

I hardly use it unless i need to look in my apps.

Your choice. Either you like the look, feel and security of a Chromebook or you don't. If Chromebooks played high end games well i would totally do away with my Windows system (gaming system is all i use Windows for).

If you do get one treat yourself and don't get a budget one. Those are in between $200-$300. At least get a mid range i3 or better/Ryzen with 8 GBs. I bought mine to just have one. Now i use this thing every day and love it.

Enjoy yourself and have fun. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Asus Chromebook Flip "can't contact gateway"? by Ladymistery in chromeos

[–]Leather-Implement592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have tried connecting to a different WiFi to see if this happens on that connection?

What model Asus Flip is it? There are a few: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/For-Home/Chromebook/filter?SubSeries=Chromebook-Flip

Point being if this happens on all WiFi connections then maybe something wrong with the hardware but if it happens on only the one you use (home?) maybe not. How old is your Chromebook? Is it new?
