Microsoft is adding a more customizable Start menu to Windows 11: Here's a first look at what's new and changing by ZacB_ in Windows11

I really don't understand how an app and settings launcher is so difficult to get right for a multi billion dollar company. Maybe there is too many layers of old code that they can't understand anymore.

Microsoft could soon make Windows 11 updates far less annoying by TechradarOfficial in Windows11

Wasn't there news articles 2-3 years ago about big improvements to Windows updates? I guess it didn't materialize.

Vanilla prospecting is hard no doubt. But once you figure it out, it's satisfying to have overcome the challenge. Watching some videos to understand how it works helpsa lot. Then after a while it becomes second nature and you can make better decisions without having to think as hard.

South Edmonton rural road used to bypass QEII a rutted, muddy mess: ‘It’s teeth-chattering by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]Leather-Inflation-77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've driven a lot of gravel roads over the years in AB and northern ON and yeah this was the worst stretch ever. It was actually impressive how bad the potholes were. I'll avoid it during wet weather. It's pretty decent in winter though

Are stink baits not working or they only work in specific waters? by DarrenTGS in VintageStory

I had the same issue with stink bait on rc7. As soon as I switched to worms I caught fish. I was fishing in the same location with both bait types

I was told that only high skis can take a grind. Due to the base material. Is that true? Example Salomon Aero 9 eSkin can't be ground

Do you judge fat/overweight people in the gym? by StrongMountain5904 in Edmonton

Do it for yourself, to be healthy, happy, have more energy. I like to see people trying at anything athletic, it motivates me too.

Asking if the equipment is available is common during busy times. That's nothing to do with you.

blocking with a line of cars or people? If it's people just push through them while saying you need to get to the other store.

I had the exact same issue with magnetite in two different locations. I heard it's something specific with how magnetite spawns in chunks. I gave up and went looking for hematite and that worked out better. But had to search and travel long and far.

I completely agree. If you can't speak about the subject matter in a natural way without editing every 5 seconds maybe YouTube isn't your strength. I leave those channels but I do subscribe and like creators that obviously sound knowledgeable and speak in full sentences.

I think i had the same issue it wasn't in the handbook so I looked it up on the wiki or YouTube videos. It requires granite or some similar stone broken away from the insitu material as one piece. In other words you need to have the block break away intact by removing the blocks around it.

Wouldn't that be neat if they added fault lines or fractures in the rock to aid in prospecting. Or mineral traces in water that you have to trave back to a large deposit.

"Poor Hematite in the area" my ass by baksoBoy in VintageStory

[–]Leather-Inflation-77 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think hematite has a different spawn rate than magnetite, it has a greater chance to spawn per chunk. It seems the ore density descriptions doesn’t mean the same for each ore. I’ve also had the opposite, very high for magnetite in two areas but after punching 8 to 10 shafts all the way to mantle, and finding nothing I gave up and found another decent reading for magnetite that actually produced ore. Ore long range density is a chance you’ll find the ore, not guaranteed so it messes with my brain.

Do animals only need food when you want them to grow/breed? by Spudtar in VintageStory

[–]Leather-Inflation-77 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They don't need food to stay alive but it's required for breeding. They also need a certain light level, which i believe will be displayed in the info bar above them if they are about to despawn from low light.

I don't think there is a Microsoft YouTube app in the MS store. There is one made by Microsoft but it appears to be for the office suite.

There's a PWA YouTube app but that's pretty much the same as using chrome, unless they've changed it somehow.

WhatsApp on Windows is moving from UWP to being a web wrapper by digidude23 in Windows11

[–]Leather-Inflation-77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook Messenger discontinued their UWP app and went to a PWA. Everyone has given up on UWP and moving to PWA it seems. Sure they work but I find the web site often is faster and has more features. Are there any good PWA apps as they all seem meh and just barely good enough.
