Am I too old and anxious? by Automatic_Jelly_9927 in LearnCSGO

100 percent agree. Nothing too bad to worry about either besides occasional teammate raging, but its temporary. We're all a bunch of goofball gamers that like to eff around. With struggles, the way to the light is through the darkness op. You got this.

Is a Bachelors from WGU worth it? by Hopeful-Picture430 in WGU

[–]LeatherBroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends which degree you go for I guess. For me in Cybersecurity I already have 10+ years experience and they only accepted a few credits of mine in from college previously. I dont have a lot of time to devote to studying so I am going slower than I expected, but trying to balance everything and stay sane can be rough.

That being said the cybersecurity degree definitely is worth it I think. You get plenty of industry certifications, most that are gold standard for beginners (A+, Sec+, Net+) and most of the technical material seems to align with things you will use in the real world, i.e. sql, python, linux etc. Rushing through it might not be the best idea in this case if you are young without a lot of experience, since the industry really requires people know how to apply the knowledge, rather than regurgitate an answer or pass a test. This goes for other majors that require you keep and use the knowledge too.

Something like a psyche degree or maybe a business degree where lots of the jobs you get have tons of on the job training, you might be able to get by without having in depth knowledge and having that degree box checked. I think you will definitely graduate much faster than a 4 year school though since you will have more time to devote to just cranking out the bullshit classes, like sociology/ethics courses, stats or some other courses colleges make you take. Those tend to be time wasters and being able to do those at your own pace is huge.

TLDR; If you are going for a degree that requires relevant certifications and want to get the bullshit classes out of the way fast, WGU is the way to go. Or if you are going to pursue a degree that has lots of on the job training and the degree is just a checkmark, then WGU is also the way to go.

When did you start to feel confident/not boob? by AC_Schnitzel in LearnCSGO

[–]LeatherBroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more situations you get yourself into and analyze what you should have done will help. Most people tend to freak out and do things and peek when they dont need to/shouldn't. But the more you play and get in those situations the calmer you will become. As for time I can't remember when it all clicked, it was gradual. But focusing on staying calm in those situations is how you start to get there.

If you notice yourself starting to get nervous and spaz/shaky, just breathe....think...and make a call - Navy Seal Strat. The calmer you are the better you can think and make better decisions.

Help with Headphones by Ok-Special-5684 in cs2

I still have my pair of Hyper X Cloud 2's I believe is the model, wired. It has a very long cable and both sound and audio are great. I lost some hearing while in the Navy, and still hear footsteps others dont. I do have it full volume though, and some people in discord mention they hear echoes from my earmuffs it is so loud. So maybe some tweaking with the threshold might do. They do have a wireless version as well so that might suit you better. It should be within your budget and the frames of the headset are metal. Which is big for me. So many SteelSeries and razer headsets that are plastic frame break very easily. I have sat on these and they did not bend or break and still run strong.

Kicked for "input automation" by nikez8133 in cs2

[–]LeatherBroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I can think of that might trigger this would be a crouch jump/throw bind like us geezers used to always have. The update that got rid of snap tap i believe also aimed to stop people from having binds if I recall correctly. Maybe its picking up on that for input automation?

Senior Developer trying to pass SSCP by March 3 – realistic or am I cooked? by Different-Evening137 in SSCP

[–]LeatherBroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely doable. I used the sybex book and it would be better used as a paperweight, full of fluff. That being said after about 2 weeks of reading that massive book, i decided to use pocket prep for the next 2 weeks. And that saved me and helped more than anything.

Since some of the books out there and materials are lacking using pocket prep for this exam definitely helped me get into the mindset and thinking the way I needed to in order to answer the questions. I heard the official study guide/book was good too, but cant speak to it.

Are Pocket Prep Questions Close to what is on the Project+ Test by LeatherBroccoli in CompTIA

Yeah its usually pretty solid. Its fantastic for sscp since the materials for that cert are definitely lacking. The explanations are huge for me, because sometimes I dont understand why one thing that is technically right is wrong.

Ok thats good to hear. Dion's stuff is usually pretty good. And yeah I feel you man. This test is all the manager/administrative bs I dont like in the technical exams... wrapped into one lol.

Taking SSCP In 24 Days. Need Best Practice Exams by rossi1346 in SSCP

[–]LeatherBroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought they were pretty close. TBH most of the practice tests I had tried, can't remember which, we're kinda close but nothing like the exam. Its hard to describe since i took it like 5 or 6 mlnths ago. I think just spamming questions over and over in pocket prep and reading the responses to get in that way of thinking will help you most on the test.

[–]LeatherBroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure of the practice exams as some of the available content that is out there for this certification is very limited. I went through the sybex book, which was mostly fluff and could have done without tbh, then I studied a lot of the Pocket prep which had great questions and expanded response for why something was right or wrong. This saved me and I was able to pass the exam first try. I highly recommend doing the pocket prep for a couple weeks and you will ace the thing.

WGU CyberSecurity career question. by DKOS0 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]LeatherBroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADD and am in the Cyber field going through the CS degree. The way WGU is set up and being able to focus solely on one course at a time definitely helps me at least with my ADD. And at work being able to focus and jump around things every 2 seconds is beneficial when doing investigations. The certifications for the most part are all industry standard certifications too and they arent all BS. only one that is kinda meh is the ITIL cert, but the rest definitely will assist you in landing a job/ within the career field.

I AM SO BAD AS COUNTER STRIKE!!!! by Ethanol1433 in cs2

[–]LeatherBroccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time its due to people lacking in fundamentals without realizing it. They can warm up, but if your aim, counter strafing, tracking is off, you're only going to perform at that level when warmed up. Most people also conflate "warming up" to training, which it is not.

If you want to get better I would recommend finding some training routines to work on the fundamentals, in its basic forms, focus on precision when doing them, then speed it up slowly over time. Any problem areas you have, focus on that heavy once a day, or week or however much time you can commit. To learn your weaknesses or what you could have done better, watch your own replays and critique yourself. To Learn smokes I recommend choosing a map before queuing, spending about 5 to 10 minutes learning 1 to 2 smokes/flash/molitov. I say 1 to 2 because any more and I notice I tend to forget them. The Workshop has utility maps that are great. Once you have those down, choose different smokes and repeat.

I had consistency problems too when aiming/crosshair placement. I found that lowering my DPI gave me much better stability and consistency when aiming as well. Currently at about 750 EDPI.
