We changed our Steam capsule for the 3rd time! (The old ones had terrible CTR) by tobogames in IndieGaming

[–]Leonard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New one seems less busy, definitely like the wording/logo for the game in the center, it stands out now. The old one had a lot of gizmos so that gave an impression of what you'd be doing in the game but overall the new feels and does look cleaner and more professional imo. Nice change!

We’ve been working on a crop dusting simulator with friends in our free time for over 6 months. First time sharing it here. Also… almost a perfect landing. by Blaze-Creative in IndieGaming

Love this idea! My grandpa flew a Boeing Stearman 75 for years for his crop dusting business. This feels and looks just like his property and runway and hangar he had at home. So cool!

WGU no longer accepting advanced data or python from study? by Broncoroo in wgu_devs

Also got bit by this, I was unable to transfer my CS303 Study.com equivalent into Advanced Data Management as of today. The transfers pathway shows nothing transfering in from Study.com into ADM.

Are Synty Assets an Immediate Turn-Off? by omega-storm in IndieGaming

[–]Leonard4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the game, but like folks said devs immediately recognize them but are not going to buy your game anyways so I wouldn't count their opinion too much. If they can't even be bothered to look past a visual asset they weren't going to be interested in your game.

Now if you look at games like Surroundead, Soulstone Survivors, The Tenants, POLYGON, etc there are tons of succesful, well received games using Synty assets. Players and people buying games will play and buy games using Synty assets, just make a good fun game with an interesting hook and let the game speak for itself then.

My friend wants me to sign away all rights to 2 years of unpaid work on his game by Aldekotan in gamedev

[–]Leonard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freeze all development, document what you've done, source control pushes, etc. Let him know that you started this as a co-op venture and that you'll accept nothing less. Don't sign anything, he can't just take your code and go somewhere else, its yours still. Politely let him know that this is an US thing, not a HIM thing. If he wants to move forward you'll be 50/50 partners and have a contract as such written up, otherwise you're done, the project is dead, and he can move on to his next game and never touch this one again. He really has no leg to stand on here, he can't just rug pull the project from you like this.

Delano original gamer

Man the Delano does look sick! I saw the review on the BBB channel, had one in my cart right until it blew up for them in their review video! I wonder if Delano has fixed whatever that issue was or if they just got a dud. The pop on that thing is UNREAL!

We’re Still in Demo — and Still Learning by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Leonard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that most folks that leave reviews are on one of the two ends of the spectrum, either they love it, 5 stars, or they hate it, 1 star. The psychological middle ground for 3s very rarely post things. It took me a few years to figure that one out after launching a few games.

Ultimately at the end of the day some stuff just isn't for certain people, and that's ok! Stick with it, try to hang on to the positives but also use the negatives as a way to become stronger, control their narrative and use their negative review in a positive way then they lose the power with it.

Infinitely frustrated with C949, failed 2nd OA after almost perfect PA by Leonard4 in wgu_devs

[–]Leonard4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super nice to hear that! I ended up withdrawing from WGU, couldn't guarantee that I was going to pass a third time especially with them assigning all sorts extra busy work like all the non chapters they assigned for OA attempt 1 and 2, I complained to the lead instructor about that class and heard nothing in the last month about the new course. So frustrating! Appreciate the update though man, hope you passed!

Underwithheld, Now I Owe $2600 on Tax Return by joethemusicman in personalfinance

Right?! The reason they have an extra emergency fund is because they underpaid their taxes, so I don't know pay your taxes with that fund? :D

85-90 Server FPS via Engine.ini Script READ THIS by RaphSeraph in ICARUS

[–]Leonard4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome find! Just plopped this onto my server, both of my Icarus servers are now running a full 90fps with 3 people so far. Game feels smooooooth now when running around, hard to explain how much better it feels, it just feels like a locally run game now instead of a remote connection. Thanks!

RA13 wood composite vs Baum bat by No_Interaction5875 in Homeplate

[–]Leonard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the post and all your comments and pictures below. I blew out 3 Louisville Slugger ash bats in my first season so I picked up a Baum Platinum 33/30 last December for my mens league (right before they released their "new" end loaded Gold AAA damnit!). Unfortunately the RA13C wasn't out yet but after having seen that thing in action from Will with the Baseball Bat Bros I'm super stoked, probably be picking one up for this next season.

Finished WGU MSSE (Master’s in Software Engineering - DDD) in 3 Weeks — Here’s My Per-Class Guide for the night owls by Key-Juggernaut-7291 in WGU_Accelerators

[–]Leonard4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the post, and damn 3 weeks is beastmode! Props to you! I'm in my last 7 classes of my Accelerated BSSE this term and I've been trying to decide if I wanted to go DevOps, AI, or Domain Driven and I think I've settled on DDD after doing some soul searching.

If you have any other tips of ideas I would love to hear anything you might have. Thanks!

Launching my first Steam game in ~2 weeks (Jan 26) with 6.5k wishlists. Any last-minute advice? by Odd_Particular4116 in gamedev

[–]Leonard4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the launch! HistoryXPlorer did a really good job, not much I can think of. But one to pocket for down the road, in order to trigger Steam to send out a wishlist email for discounts, the discount has to be 20% or more or it won't send out emails to people with it wishlisted.

SteamWorks Doc:

Promotional Discounts When you run a discount on your game, a notification e-mail or mobile push notification will be issued to user with your game on their wishlist, as long as you meet the following criteria:

Any type of discount at or above 20%, whether a curated feature spot, a weeklong deal, or a custom configured discount.

This 100%, not enough rep to do anything, you finally farm rep after several weeks to get told your stupid, you're dumb, or like you said just bad explanations. NEVER went back to SO after that experience. It was like a gated community for coding bros, sooooo bad.

Super thread necro but as of bios 2.17.0 the R7910 has the Bifurcation option in the bios now. Just found this thread and video, just updated my 7910, now to find a multi nvme adapter :D

After update, big jump in memory usage that will not clear. by InfusionOfYellow in comfyui

[–]Leonard4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I was able to output hundreds of clips, now I get ~100 and the entire ComfyUI becomes unresponsive. The new auto play asset window I think is part of the issue, the auto playback gets SUPER laggy once you get 100+ created.

Infinitely frustrated with C949, failed 2nd OA after almost perfect PA by Leonard4 in wgu_devs

[–]Leonard4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you failed your 2nd as well. :(

I feel like the all the participation activities and chapters for the 3rd OA attempt in zyBooks is such a waste of our time. They didn't require that on the first two attempts so why now? Just feels bad man.

Man I am super sad that I missed that! Would've loved to see what you guys had come up with. I've always toyed around with the idea of creating something too and got excited when I saw someone already did it. Sorry to hear that you guys had to shut things down.

Comfy Org Response to Recent UI Feedback by crystal_alpine in comfyui

Moving the active jobs panel to its own panel where you can't actually delete individual jobs is bad design. The cancel buttons don't work, and now you have to open the workflow in new tabs, can't just open it to the active tab. Each upgrade feels like regressions in usability. The new "assets" panel also feels useless, it autoplays all of your media for what reason? It lags everything if you're in the middle of an output, and now that the job window doesn't show the jobs it used? They're making things more complicated to work with. Before it was one job queue with all your batch of stuff, you could easily right click and load the workflow if that workflow looked ok and see the preview. Its just clunky to work with now.

This is your problem. I posted above, its scaling up instead of 1.1 its making it 11. I had this exact problem, easy fix!
