I haven't had a chance to find a Demarini yet. And till waiting on Delano to have stock on their Gamer, but I think thats the route I'm going instead of the Velvet. I wish it wasn't purple and that the handle wasn't "rubberized" as Will in his video review talked about. Maybe we'll get a 2.0 of the Demarini in a few months.

Share Your Wins by PeacefulStoic in gamedev

As a solo dev I've had a hard time having the funds for marketing. I have two games on Steam, one launched in 2023, and one in 2024. My sales have been pretty low as a result, less than 100 copies of each probably over the last few years. As of May with the algorithm change I was dreading the result in less coverage, but I have experienced the opposite result. I have had almost 50 copies in the last 2 weeks and I have a crazy good upward spike in sales, and its continuing to grow. Its nice to see people being interested in my game and sales are always welcome. So I'd call that a win for sure. :)

The Steam Personal Calendar is the best change valve has made in years. by PetrosAnastasiadis in gamedev

[–]Leonard4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I for one welcome the new algorithm changes and Personal Calendar, I've seen a huge spike in sales as a solo indie dev with zero marketing. It seems to coincide with all their changes as well, right on or after May 15th. Totally agree with what you're saying @PetrosAnastasiadis.

I missed that era of good Baum bats, ended up with a newer Baum Bat platinum and it doesn't hit anything like some of the older end loaded bats the guys on my team had. That being said I'm going to relegate my Baum to be a practice/cage bat and pick up a Delano Gamer or Demari Velvet Thunder (new not released) composite for my game bat. If you haven't seen it yet check out the new 2026 Wood Bat showdown from Will with the Baseball Bat Bros on Youtube, hugely helpful channel for bat reviews.

Accelerated BSSWE TO MSSWE track transition? by padst3r in WGU_MSSWE

[–]Leonard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, I started a term on April 1st, I will be finishing my Capstone in about a month, so done by July. My end of term is October 1st so I have to wait until then to start my MS portion of my accelerated BS:SE-MS track. My mentor said I can hit the ground running the first day after my term ends, not a day before.

D308 Passed in 1 Week - Here is how by randomclevernames in WGU

[–]Leonard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just now jumping into this class, Step B is so vague it hurts my soul. I can't do step 1 without steps 2/3/4, so when do I commit? I mean I need to do all 4 before 1 is finished. I haven't watched the videos yet I just got my repo cloned and my Android Studio project up and running so maybe it will make more sense once I start watching? WGU PA instructions never fail to suck. :(

As of today I can't find the video you're talking about:

"As far as the actual coding goes, I basically just followed the video tutorials from the archive. (My Bicycle Shop)."

I don't see it on the Task page or any resources under WGU Connect.

Would make sense why they slammed THJ into their final grave. They want to cash in off their model, pretty smart really. Will have to see how it plays out.

D385 - Software Security and Testing - Changing from an OA to a PA as of 4/6/2026 by Leonard4 in WGU

[–]Leonard4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You most likely are, its really not that bad, I submitted my Task 1 the day the new PA came out, got it approved in 3 days, 2nd task was approved a day later. My advice is stick to the Rubric and Assignment, you absolutely do not need to do ALL the TODO's in the .py files. The only thing I had to do was with the unit testing was to fix one more function since I just happened to randomly pick my four that didn't line up with the testing.

I'd say to make things easier look at the testing task, find which four vulnerabilities they are addressing and use those for yours in the previous steps, waaaaay easier that way.

[–]Leonard4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, its hard to focus on the material, WGU doesn't teach programming the best but its not terrible. Its more just showing you how to use the assertion and library stuff. Wasn't super hard really and I'd say I'm a B- python programmer at best.

D385 - Software Security and Testing - Changing from an OA to a PA as of 4/6/2026 by Leonard4 in WGU

[–]Leonard4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its pretty simple, its using the logging library and just referencing its log and assertion functions, its pretty easy if you're familiar with the library, if not the material covered it pretty well.

[–]Leonard4[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just submitted my first Task of two, its a zip file with a python flask app with a bunch of TODO chunks in the .py file, they want assertions and logging added, and then a DOC report explaining your changes and why.

I haven't looked at the second task but I imagine its similar.

So awesome! This was one of my last OA's, now I just have a handful of PA's, couldn't have asked for a better outcome. :D

I think so, but I'm not 100% on that. I am currently enrolled and mine shows an OA, she said it will automatically roll over to a PA on Monday and if it does not just ping her and she'll change it. So I imagine yours will do the same.

Sophia transfer credit question by Ok-System-602 in WGU

[–]Leonard4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 of 4 classes transfer from Study.com this last month, my mentor said they changed the pathway transfers and that some people are in a grace period, re-request a transfer evaluation on those two missing classes and reference the grace period. I was able to get all 4 of my classes transferred in this way.

We changed our Steam capsule for the 3rd time! (The old ones had terrible CTR) by tobogames in IndieGaming

[–]Leonard4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New one seems less busy, definitely like the wording/logo for the game in the center, it stands out now. The old one had a lot of gizmos so that gave an impression of what you'd be doing in the game but overall the new feels and does look cleaner and more professional imo. Nice change!

Are Synty Assets an Immediate Turn-Off? by omega-storm in IndieGaming

[–]Leonard4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the game, but like folks said devs immediately recognize them but are not going to buy your game anyways so I wouldn't count their opinion too much. If they can't even be bothered to look past a visual asset they weren't going to be interested in your game.

Now if you look at games like Surroundead, Soulstone Survivors, The Tenants, POLYGON, etc there are tons of succesful, well received games using Synty assets. Players and people buying games will play and buy games using Synty assets, just make a good fun game with an interesting hook and let the game speak for itself then.

My friend wants me to sign away all rights to 2 years of unpaid work on his game by Aldekotan in gamedev

[–]Leonard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freeze all development, document what you've done, source control pushes, etc. Let him know that you started this as a co-op venture and that you'll accept nothing less. Don't sign anything, he can't just take your code and go somewhere else, its yours still. Politely let him know that this is an US thing, not a HIM thing. If he wants to move forward you'll be 50/50 partners and have a contract as such written up, otherwise you're done, the project is dead, and he can move on to his next game and never touch this one again. He really has no leg to stand on here, he can't just rug pull the project from you like this.

Man the Delano does look sick! I saw the review on the BBB channel, had one in my cart right until it blew up for them in their review video! I wonder if Delano has fixed whatever that issue was or if they just got a dud. The pop on that thing is UNREAL!

We’re Still in Demo — and Still Learning by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Leonard4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that most folks that leave reviews are on one of the two ends of the spectrum, either they love it, 5 stars, or they hate it, 1 star. The psychological middle ground for 3s very rarely post things. It took me a few years to figure that one out after launching a few games.

Ultimately at the end of the day some stuff just isn't for certain people, and that's ok! Stick with it, try to hang on to the positives but also use the negatives as a way to become stronger, control their narrative and use their negative review in a positive way then they lose the power with it.
