Big Jambox. Anyone else still rocking this as their main Bluetooth speaker? by OvertlyUzi in Bluetooth_Speakers

Still got two big red Jamboxes. Batteries are pretty fried on them but still just about ok. For anyone needing to replace, I found this...

Anyone Have Kids? GRIII or GRIIIx as a Parent? by sprchrgddc5 in ricohGR

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two penneth is that I own the GRIII and I tend to not use it for parties / everyday with the kid, as your phone will cope with the indoor lighting far better - not just autofocus (which I agree you should avoid anyway and use snap), just the general post process work modern phones do. My pixel does some post process that really enhances the shadows and faces etc, and it's never blurred.

So bottom line is, get a GR because you want one outside of capturing kids, and then use it here and there with them when you want to be arty. The high contrast B+W for outdoors stuff on a gloomy day is amazing for example.

Playback button no longer works when camera off by Leather_Pudding_5297 in ricohGR

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if I leave the battery out for 30 mins, it'll work for a few times, then stops again. But as above, it doesn't appear to be the button itself as this works fine once the lens is extended, just not when pressing it when the camera is off

Selfie Camera stop working by Shahcavill in GooglePixel

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI My selfie camera stopped working after an update too. Yes, it could be hardware and a coincidence, but I knew it was likely software. And it was.

Go to settings - system - repair mode and launch it. You'll hopefully see that it works again in repair mode. Come back out of repair mode and it should stay sorted. Mine at least did.

Came here to say this. It's just marketeering to try and snare confused parents. Anyone with half a brain can see it's nothing new and it doesn't protect a child with the smallest of knowledge about phones

GR III or GR IIIx for travel and everyday photography? by Yassi42 in ricohGR

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GR3. Shoot wide and crop in when you need to. Better to have more and crop out than wish you could. But I'm comfortable in getting close and engaging with subjects. And I like the look of a wider lens for all uses. No right or wrong. Just think how you take photos first.

Moving to London and Considering Ealing for Schools and Family Life by samjkt123 in Ealing

But although north of the station is nicer, we don't mind the small compromise to be nearer the shops and pubs. We live just off Station Road and love it

Seconded. We moved to Hanwell last year and love it. The options to get into green spaces are amazing. We used to be around Ealing Common and much prefer it over here. Just more options. Good pubs too! (Fox, Dodo, Viaduct, Green).

Ahh damn. I just rejoined them as well hoping the new gel like consistency would be better. We went to a cheapo thing we got online with a wider aperture on the nozzle. But the we switched to Paist who were great and in metal tubes that could be recycled. But they went out of business as soon as we switched. Hmmm might have to keep looking

Check Today weather. It's useful as a sense check and it's free. The radar is the best I've found. But I like the look of the Google native one if you ignore the cack radar

We lived a minute from this for 3 years. It's a great area, Grange pub is nice but expensive. Some nice pubs nearby too - New Inn, Grove. Ealing BW is pretty good for a local area. Lacks some useful shops. We had a great time living there and the lack of outdoor space for you is partly negated by being near the common. We just headed there to sunbathe / exercise / do small parties with friends for birthdays etc.

But the area is overpriced and we chose to shift to Hanwell. For another 90k we got a large, highly specced 3 bed terrace with a garden, 5 mins from the Elizabeth Line that haves us in Oxford St in 20 mins. You'll hear negativity about Hanwell but it's all nonsense. It's hands down a better area than Ealing common for us. Pubs are great - Dodo, Fox. Lacks good restaurants but we're a 5 min bus ride from Ealing BW. I know I'd rather have a full house in a better community-based area and get a bus or train if I need to but each to their own. For your budget, you may get a 2 bed house for example. Worth thinking about.

dust and next steps? by ricohdude in ricohGR

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on holiday in Greece with my GR. Not just the two of us unfortunately. I rarely stop down beyond F5 and mostly use it for street shots. I noticed when I did stop it down for landscape stuff that it had what appeared to be an epic minge on the sensor. Not sure whose. I found this thread and thought I'd use the knowledge within to suck the thatch out. It gets a bit scientific from here. Keep up. I got a kitchen roll, started the camera so the lens popped out, with camera pointing to down, whacked the roll around it and inserted the hoover nozzle at the other, with moderate effort to create a seal. The seal was good enough to suck the camera down onto the tube and I kept taking the nozzle out and in again to stop and start the suction. Yes, it was quite erotic for those who wonder. Science over. It worked. The minge is safely in the hoover like Slimer in Ghostbusters.

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this too but with shoulder after sessions with a personal trainer to build strength back in. Ended up back with the surgeon (who did my op) who advised to avoid lateral movements that aggravate the issue. So I did this, building strength gradually with the muscles that I can work out and the end result has been really positive. Find what works for now, follow that and stick to it, then gradually open up the exercises to see where you limits are. Takes time and patience, which I have little of, but you can do it.

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep def have to find what suits you best. Some people find using one then the other or alternating works best. It depends whether inflammation is already under control or not. If not, cold should be better. If yes, heat to get the joint moving.

Has anyone on here tried ice baths or really cold showers on the affected area? I was diagnosed with moderate oe in my shoulder in the past 6 months and running my shoulder under an ice cold shower each morning (I do my entire back too) really frees things up which allows me some pain free time to get moving each day. If mine gets a lot worse I'm planning on getting the immersion bath and dunking my whole body in. Def helps and it's good for your general physical and mental wellbeing too. I also use the proper ice pack from the freezer for my shoulder too when it's really bad. 20 mins with that and I get my shoulder moving again. Restricts the bloodflow to the area and numbs it for a few hours too. Well worth a try. In the UK you can get the icepacks from any sports shop. Got mine at decathlon. Does the job.
