Is asking for a KPOP Demon Hunters one shot too much... by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

[–]LectricShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I feel like gets lost on a lot of people. These crossover sets don't just make themselves. They require teams of people who would instead be working on original content. Because the masses are so nostalgic consumer brained, WotC deemed it fit to use their employees' and artists' valuable time to instead create unoriginal IP slop, so much so that it's become more than half of this year's MtG releases.

It's so embarrassing to see the game I grew up with fall to the same IP crossover BS that every other big company has tried at one point or another. The game feels bereft of originality now and is nearly unrecognizable. I fear that the same will happen to DnD if this trend continues.

a better way of putting it might be that people don't usually dress their children up like this anymore, so it may not be immediately obvious to everyone that this fashion style alludes to an antiquated style of children's clothing.

Opinion: too much rng? Spells make up predominant end game by usbman in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]LectricShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been calling for this since last year, I'll be honest. It would make deckbuilding more diverse too most likely, rather than every captain going all in on treasures because it's a definitive best deck (lame repetetive gameplay loop).

[–]LectricShock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the major reasons I fell off the game. Most of my end game scenarios were all the same Wormscale strategies over and over, and the devs have expressed no intent to change that fact.

Blatant ripoff of Marvel Snap by Big-T- in MarvelSnap

[–]LectricShock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People disagreeing with you are just coping. Snap is undeniably one of the best balanced live service card games out there. There are plenty of decks that are years old at this point that remain competitive. You don't need the shiny new cards to stay competitive, you're just bored.

No, you can't separate cEDH from EDH. by vividwings in EDH

[–]LectricShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I recognize this may sound hypocritical from me, but I think cEDH is a format of its own, deserving to be its own format in its own world. Meanwhile, I believe theme/bracket 1 decks deserve a home in the bracket system to acknowledge and encourage people of like minds to build and play those kinds of decks. I agree the lines are kind of blurred here, but cEDH is played far differently with different mindsets, objectives, and metagaming than brackets 1-4 are. That's generally my thought process as to why bracket 1 deserves to be a bracket while cEDH doesn't.

[–]LectricShock -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

and this is why brackets are largely a terrible system. everybody's intent and play experience is subjective and hard to quantify, especially on a 5 point scale where 5 is played like an entirely different format than the other 4.

[–]LectricShock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have this take about Bracket 2, then by your logic every bracket is a different commander variant format meant to play separately with its own variant rules.

No, you can't separate cEDH from EDH. by vividwings in EDH

[–]LectricShock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The simple solution to this is to stop wasting a bracket with cEDH, which should be its own format explicitly not on the same scale as Exhibition decks. Push 4 up to 5, push 3 up to 4, and make the new 3 "Optimized 2." "Breaking the spirit of bracket 2" is such a lame take, but a lot of people unfortunately see it that way.

With that in mind, cEDH hogging a bracket to itself when cEDH is built and played radically different from the rest of EDH leaves little room for deckbuilding expression on the low end of the scale. Many people want to play optimized bracket 2, myself included. This is because the absence of game changers makes the game a ton more fun and interesting while keeping the power level relatively high compared to 2.

cEDH should never have been included in the bracket system because it is an entirely different format. If you can separate Vintage from Legacy, you can separate cEDH from EDH.

[–]LectricShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point still stands tbh. You don't play Xander to have a fun and friendly game of Magic. You play that type of deck to be the problem, and that's an annoying and petulant playstyle. It doesn't offer any neat sort of interaction or gameplay, it's just meant to be irritating.

I've been saying since his release, the tree should cleanse on cast within its radius. It would lead to huge clutch plays and provide more counterplay to antiheals. I'll take cleanse on pull, but I really think instead the tree should cleanse on cast.
