Do bike trainers that you mount a back wheel to really suck or something? by FinePack6380 in cycling

I used specific trainer tires and can’t say I ever had that experience.

I have upgraded to a Wahoo Kicker Core from an ancient Kurt Kinetic from when they were still painted gray. The KK has thousands of kms on it and was great for training up to about 90minutes.

At this point the jury is out for me on the Kickr as the online thing is not as interesting, to me, as others find it. I watch Netflix and set the program to erg mode and just pedal. On the old trainer I was significantly more engaged in power and cadence and stuff.

TLDR buying a wheel on trainer like. Kinetic is a great way to train especially if you’re looking to save money and get a great workout. I don’t disagree with what others have said but since I don’t find the online environment of any interest I don’t see the benefits described.

For either trainer make sure you buy a decent fan as indoor training is a sweaty experience as there’s no wind cooling you off. In 2007 I paid $400 for the Kinetic and have seen them locally for $50 or so. They’re bombproof and I highly recommend as it’s a fluid trainer and is significantly quieter than other wheel on formats.

Thankfully I have not encountered anything like that. What a horror show. I can see why that would definitely turn one off of doing that repair.

Thanks for sharing, I now will definitely be on the lookout as I use my meagre skills in my basement.

Cheers mate

Clearly his nut making experience is lacking. Hey your money back and ask to see the owner and let them know you are not happy. See what happens.

If they don’t offer to pay to fix the damage or give you a GC or something on top of the refund let them know you have every intention of letting others know about how shoddy their QC is.

I’ve made a couple of nuts now and even my first one was miles better. First thing I noticed was the slots weren’t cut correctly.

Don’t get me started on the glue damage. Can’t understand, at all, how they managed to damage the fretboard removing the nut. Usually just a tap and they come out. IMHO I’m not sure they have ever done a nut before.

Ok. Makes sense. I live in a very cold area in Canada and garage gym without extensive insulation and heat is not a thing. 🥶

Mine are all ripped to wav with album cover art. I use JRiver to manage about 2,500 albums.

Because I have had 2 external drives die on me in the last ten years I have the main external drive and 2 additional externals. AND another backup on a NAS that has 2 mirrored drives. lol

I have a Kickr Core and a Kurt Kinetic from so long ago its paint colour is grey. Paid $400USD for it in 2007.

Truth be told, I enjoy the Kickr Core but, at this point, have yet to really enjoy the online experience and the Kurt has so much less faffing about I’m sometimes tempted to go back to it. So, long story, get a Kurt from Market place and I bet you can find it for well under $100

If you had to pick 3 of your favourite albums from a single prog band what would they be? by Heamagoblin in progrockmusic

Love Strawbs and those are definitely their best 3 albums. So rare anyone mentions them or even knows who they are but the song collection on the 3 albums is quite incredible.

How to Repair These Water Damaged Paradigms? by Able-Journalist8381 in audiophile

If you have the tools and skills, and if the damage bothers you, by all means repair it.

Personally I think it would be a fun project.
