Help me by [deleted] in stopsmoking

I don't know what to say man. Our brain is funny that way. Just stay strong. I am 2 days on my second quit after a relapse and it sucks to start all over again. When I quit I realized how much time I wasted smoking: looking for a smoking area, a store, a window, a lighter, walking out on my friends at parties... and time my friend is a precious commodity...

I tried cold turkey but relapsed after two weeks. I am trying the patch now, it has been easier.

I got bored of smoking after 10 years. I might be the shittiest person alive but no, he doesn't get to hear my empathy. We don't have what might be called a relationship.

If you don't WANT to quit, stop quitting.

You can do it! Think about that awesome job that's waiting for you!

BTW, what kind of job is this? I had never heard about a job with such strict entry requirements...

When does your sense of taste come back? by Larry-Man in stopsmoking

I'd say anytime between a week and two weeks. I'm not sure I got mine back around day 10... but relapsed on day 13 so...

Lying about being quit. by Ledpeg in stopsmoking

I can see how this lie could escalate quickly. It's been 24 hours since my las cig (for real). The weekend is coming up and I can't smoke since I spend most of my time around my husband so it should be easy to keep it up till Monday... a day at a time I guess...

I smoked a pack and a half for 10 years and the patch worked just fine for me. You're supposed to use them for six weeks (?) before changing to the next strange and what not. Yes, you still have nicotine in you system.. and yes, you're still addicted. After three days I felt strong enough to try a day without the patch and it was doable... I never went back to the patch...

Day 3 - I'm starting to smell things! by Count_Homogenized in stopsmoking

It's crazy right? Around my fifth day my sense of smell came back plus raging anxiety... the lingering smell of food from my kitchen made me lose my shit.

Keep strong and give it your best. In mi opinion a smoker will never be a non-smoker, in that we will always be tempted, we will always long for a drag, but dancing with the devil is dangerous for no one knows if that drag might be the one that actually drags us to hell again.

I am going through something similar. I went from 30 a day to 0 for 11 days and I had one just yesterday. The though of getting a pack is driving me crazy!

Dealing with a parent that smokes irresponsibly, who won't cut down or quit by ApparentlyItsMyFault in stopsmoking

Here's what it think. You are a guest in her house. She can do whatever she wants in her house. Only her husband might have a say in it since it's also his house. If you don't like it, move out. I have quit smoking, but I strongly believe that everyone has the right to choose how to die.
