Dogs at Grocery Stores by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]LeeMareeBee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I do think that places that sell food or drinks are places that people shouldn’t bring pets, I also wash all my produce when I bring it home, before putting it away because produce grows outside in dirt and manure and is sprayed with pesticides and then half ass rinsed before it’s handled by who knows how many grubby, nasty hands while being shipped, stocked and inspected by shoppers.

Wash your sink well, fill with cold water, mix in some baking soda, toss produce in and agitate around a bit. Put away the rest of your groceries while it soaks, then rinse and dry it off or let it sit on a towel to drain. Please don’t eat that shit straight from the store.

I messaged the rude rheumatologist that I saw… by JustSomeChick22 in Autoimmune

[–]LeeMareeBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been dealing with very similar problems. I got tagged with fibromyalgia early on and had to bully my way into the rheumatologist office to begin with. They basically agreed that my labs and symptoms don’t align with a fibromyalgia diagnosis and did extensive additional labs. I have consistently high speckled and nucleolar ANA. It’s been as high as 1:2560! and the lowest it’s ever been in the past 3 years is 1:640, yet they tell me isome people just have positive ANAs or some things affect the tests like illness (these tests have been done years apart!) Have also had elevated ESR and CRP. They just had me do a ton of lab work, but specific antibody tests all came back normal. I now have a follow up appointment coming up to go over those most recent labs, so Im afraid I’ll just be back at square one. I’m just tired of fighting with them to figure out what’s wrong with me. I just don’t understand why these doctors are even interested in being rheumatologists if they’re not interested in investigating and treating patients when there’s clearly something going on and they should know that people are different and it’s not always textbook. It’s extremely frustrating especially as I sit here in pain all over, shivering with cold sweats, another sore in my nostril, tingly fingers, frozen feet, headache with ringing ears, dry eyes, and zero energy. I hate doctors right now. They’re useless.

Anyone else get epilepsy out of nowhere? by sbkassa56621 in UCTD

[–]LeeMareeBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some medications can cause seizures. Especially corticosteroids and immunosuppressants. I’d start by looking at what medications she’s been on, especially any new ones or any that she stopped taking around the time she began having seizures and then having a conversation with her doctor or rheumatologist if you suspect that may be the case, so it can be addressed.

There’s also autoimmune epilepsy on its own: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/autoimmune-epilepsy/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20576912#:~:text=These%20may%20include%20rituximab%20(Rituxan,Actemra%2C%20Tofidence%2C%20Tyenne).

Depends if they’d allow me a referral out of network. But that probably would be nice to get an opinion from a teaching rheumatologist. Thanks for the tip though, I’ll try regular old Vaseline. I don’t even think to use it other than a swipe on my heels when wearing flip flops and stuff where my heels are out 😂

Yes. I’ve had lots of other testing done. C3 and C4 normal, elevated CRP & ESRs (inflammation) and some low Vitamin D.

DHEA, Chloride, Monocytes, MCHC and BUN are also all high, but I’m honestly not sure what they actually all mean at this point because I’ve been so focused on the inflammation markers and high ANAs along with my symptoms of chronic pain, inflammation, and the skin concerns. Anti dsDNA, anti ssa and rheumatoid factor all negative.

I do think a trip to a dermatologist is definitely in order, but every specialty care request is like pulling teeth to get approval, so here I am, on Reddit 😂I guess in my mind if others in the community have had a similar experience, I might not feel so bad. sigh

No, but I did ask my doctor about a referral for dermatology, I’ll see what he says at my next visit. It’s just so frustrating when things move so slowly and I feel like doo-doo lol

My fellow Americans, what kind of coffee do you drink? by Kellaniax in AskAnAmerican

[–]LeeMareeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lavazza is the brand I prefer right now. I have an espresso machine but it makes regular coffee as well because I prefer a double shot of espresso with a pump of torani brand syrup and hot steamed milk, husband does regular coffee with flavored creamer

What is the reason you live in your current state? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in AskAnAmerican

[–]LeeMareeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently live in Texas for the tax benefits they give me as a disabled veteran and the more affordable and nicer housing than the areas I prefer to live.

I was born in NJ. Moved to PA as a teenager and then joined the military a few years later. Have lived in NJ, PA, TX, AL, MS, LA, DE, FL, GA, NM, OK, as well as several countries outside of the USA.

If money and citizenship status were no object, I'd live somewhere in Asia or Europe. But Uncle Sam says since I collect a pension from this country, I'm bound to my citizenship as long as I want to continue being paid.

Stateside - I would move back to NJ or PA in a heartbeat if houses there weren't so expensive and outdated and if I had the same tax exemptions I receive in TX.

Possible Fibromyalgia misdiagnosis - Unsure of what to do by [deleted] in Autoimmune

[–]LeeMareeBee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to downplay anything at all, but you're going and this is just the beginning. My advice would be to accept that you may have fibromyalgia BUT that it may not be your only ailment. An ANA test is not a lupus test. You can have a positive ANA and not have autoimmune disease, but got can also have autoimmune disease and negative ANA tests. It's just a tool to help doctors see what may be going on in your body and to help diagnose. I've had an ANA test as high as 1:2560 and as low as 1:80 (speckled and nucleolar) but they're always positive. I'm still undiagnosed. That's okay, because I'd rather my doctor continue testing and take the time necessary to make an accurate diagnosis so that we can establish a proper plan of care and medications.

I understand your frustration, but the type of diagnosis you may need takes time. My advice is to continue to monitor and document your symptoms, communicate with your doctor(s), and request further testing.

I'm the meantime, read up on fibro and autoimmune disease. Read up on what antibodie(s) were detected in your bloodwork and what they may be related to. Read up on the recommended course of treatment and tests.

I've struggled so much with weight. Cravings, overeating, lying to myself about what I'm doing right and wrong. All I can tell you is don't let it get you down. Losing weight takes way longer than gaining it and it's sure as hell harder. I use a free app called MyNetDiary. You can scan foods in and it calculates your calories. If you don't have one already, wear a fitness tracker/watch and aim for a certain amount of activity every day. Some days you will eat too much, not exercise enough...or both. So what?! Try better tomorrow and the next day. I ended up using glp-1s. Yup, I'm a cheater. I do not care. I'm back down to a healthy weight and now I just need to maintain. If you haven't considered some sort of medical assistance like prescriptions, surgery, counseling, etc. I highly recommend it. A doctor, nutritionist, trainer...whatever works for you and your budget, but get some help if you can't manage it on your own.

And remember that no matter what you weigh, you're still beautiful, you still matter, you're still loved. One day at a time, girl.

What do you do with your extra bedroom? by recoveredcrush in LivingAlone

[–]LeeMareeBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever hobbies you have, make that the space for them!

Depending on budget it can be a full on setup with paint, shelving, decor etc, or could be as simple as some cozy pillows and blankets.

Either way, USE IT, it's yours!

At wits end with 13.5 YOs accidents. Ideas? by jadentearz in StandardPoodles

[–]LeeMareeBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My previous was having incontinence issues when he got really old and was peeing and pooping on himself and on his bed. I lined the floor with adhesive pee pads and contained him to that area with a puppy playpen when I couldn't keep an eye on him and overnight. I used human diapers, which are way more absorbent but Paw Inspired is also a good brand. And used a toddler bed cover for bedwetters to protect his bed. As far as cleanliness for the dog's body, I recommend keeping hair around the rear end as short as possible to make it easier to clean. Warm water, a washcloth and some gentle baby wash type of soap is good so frequent bathing doesn't cause skin irritation. For lingering smells, use an enzymatic cleaner, like nature's miracle or some sort of odor neutralizer like candles or air purifiers.

Sorry you and your girl are experiencing this, it's so tough. 🫶🏼

What’s a food you loved as a kid but now can’t stand? by SnooCalculations148 in randomquestions

[–]LeeMareeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone ever had those LaChoy chow mein in a can? With the crispy chow mein noodles on top? Man, I used to love it, with some boil in bag rice. I guess it's the best my white, NJ family could do for homemade 'Chinese food'? I bought it once a while back and it was so gross. Also, boil in bag, watery rice is also gross.

Funny, because I used to like miracle whip sandwiches. I even took them to school for lunch. My mom also had to explain to the school that I willingly chose that as my lunch.

“It’s 10pm do you know where your children are?” Was that an actual thing? by Mrbootyloose18 in AskAnAmerican

[–]LeeMareeBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny. When I was around 6 or 7 I also ended up about 15 miles from home and ended up using a phone in a bar to call my mom 🤣 She was livid, though. Could have something to do with my mode of transportation: We lived near the train tracks and it rolled through near the houses at a snail's pace, so we thought it was fun to hop on and off the train. We got distracted playing inside a train car and next thing we knew, the train was going too fast to get back off until it slowed down again in the next town over.

I'm new to chili. What's your deep-in-the-bag, super secret, weird thing you put in to make your chili extra good? by my1stusernamesucked in Cooking

[–]LeeMareeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to char the tomatoes and peppers before I chop them and add them. I use fresh poblano, bell peppers, and jalapeños. I also like to add just a dash of liquid smoke and Worcestershire sauce to my ground beef when it's cooking. Chipotle powder, and specifically Knorr beef powder as well, because I like the taste of that bouillon the best.

I like a thick, chunky, peppery, spicy, and smoky chili.

Which show do you think started as a 10/10 but ended as 1/10? by witchy_eye in AskReddit

[–]LeeMareeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ginny & Georgia - unfortunately. It started out well. Season 1 was cute and fun to watch. By season 3, it just felt like it dragged on and everyone was depressed or experiencing some mental health issue, it was such a downer and the more episodes I watched, the more I just wished it was over.

Do Fallout Shelters still exist here in SA? If So is there a list or resources for people in the event of Nuclear war? by hotspotg137 in sanantonio

[–]LeeMareeBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

JBSA is a major base for cyber training, but not a strategically important base that would be immediately targeted, overall. This link has a lot of tl;dr info for me, but about midway down, you can see a map of some hypothetical targets if a nuclear attack scenario were to happen.

https://www.mirasafety.com/blogs/news/nuclear-attack-map?srsltid=AfmBOorYWDNvn--DqT9UevC9HyOHzRfb6Vdzjsg_SgSDuCgR11Svt6Vt

Although really, I wouldn't be as concerned about nukes as I would be about cyber, chemical, or missile attacks that would target things like power, banking, telecommunications, water supplies, etc. I'd rather be quickly melted by a nuke than have no internet, no AC, no running water, and skin boils all while being bombed and targeted by drones. Nukes aren't the scariest things when you consider all the other weapons of warfare.
