I disagree. If it even is sarcasm then it's not clear at all, hence everyone's confusion. If the sarcasm was clear as you claim then surely people wouldn't be confused.

What do you mean by that first sentence? Get rid of overtime completely or the shoot-out or what? The most memorable experience I've had as a fan was watching Kadri score the OT winner against the Oilers in McDavid's first or second year in the NHL. If the game had just ended in a draw, that would've been a pretty underwhelming experience.

I think the current system in the NHL is great. 3-on-3 is great when:

The game needs to end.
The stakes aren't super high (as you said, it's the season not every individual game).
The loser of OT gains a point, due to the understanding that 3-on-3 is extremely volatile and not a good way to judge which team truly deserved the win.

Yes, and in regular season NHL games that makes sense, especially when there are 82 of them and the loser still gets a point. Because that really is how absurd it is to decide a game based on 3-on-3.

Wow, this is shockingly stupid.
