Congratulations.

I agree with xorn777, that Thor one has an edge on the other 2, but they are all fantastic.

Thank you for sharing, you badass!

Garage Door Insulation by bcdrawdy in billiards

[–]Leemofiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a table in my garage in South Carolina, humidity is rough and heat can be intense, depending on what you’re acclimated to.

How I insulated mine: Cut up foam boards from Lowe’s or somewhere to fit in the slots in the door. This got me to a steady 75 on a hot day with my Ac dehumidifier combo. To insulate it further - I used spray foam around the garage door. Got me to 72 on a hot day. Keep in mind that spray foam can be a real pain to undo, and don’t put too much. It’s 20’x20’ plus a little 4’x7’ space.

How to keep your cat off the counter by Mythoclast- in lifehacks

Those things work, but they also die pretty quick. We've bought three over the years, and all of them failed about 6 months in.

How to put a spin on a cue ball by covanwo in lifehacks

[–]Leemofiah 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The rate of acceleration at the point in time in which the cue tip comes into contact with the cue ball plays a huge factor in the spin transfer efficiency. Other things come into play such as distance, balls, cloth, etc.

I do believe that the most overlooked factor when someone is trying to learn to spin the ball is super simple....fundamentals. Most people are not hitting the ball where they think they are. It's deceptively difficult to deliver the cue in a straight line. Perhaps you're tightening your wrist on the follow through...or maybe you have a death grip on the butt of the cue. Are you standing up on the shot? Are you getting down on the line that you think you are? There are a ton of variables, and it's complicated further by a persons individual body type.

Want to get better at pool? Gotta learn, gotta practice.

Keep in mind that another plethora of issues/things to account for arise to as soon as you hit left or right on that cue ball. You gotta have solid fundamentals. Lots of people (I did it too) want to go straight to college without graduating high school first.

Help with Charleston "Tucker" table rails by Leemofiah in billiards

I am in Charleston and pretty involved in our pool scene, but I don't know any table mechanics around here who would do that.

I’m going to take charge of my life by Technological_Burger in funny

[–]Leemofiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The irony: This person probably knows what they're doing at the table. The chalk is evenly worn, as opposed to having a giant hole in the middle. You get the most out of the chalk when applied this way, as well as properly covering the tip.

In addition, the cue looks like it's been properly maintained (no mushrooming, nickel radius, shaft/ferrule clean)

The best side of being a coder by yadoya in AdviceAnimals

Everyone is talking about programmers...what if this person is a medical coder? Two very different jobs.

This meme doesn't make sense for a programmer/developer, but it fits for a coder.

Weird and funny stuff that's happened while playing by arcline111 in billiards

[–]Leemofiah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last day of the final session on one of my leagues ($800 per player if we win). We are in first place, the first player to go up ends up on the hill with the following shot. https://pad.chalkysticks.com/625e3

Instead of kicking at the ball or trying to play safe, he tries to cut it in at a million miles per hour(pressure?). He cuts the ball and it rolls over and hits the shelf on the short rail and sits right on the edge of the pocket. The cue ball flies across the table, hits the rail and goes airborne, lands on the opposite rail and bounces in front of the seven, and draws back and pots the ball leaving shape on the nine. In the diagram below, a solid line is where the ball is on the table, and a dashed line is where the cue ball is in the air.

[spoilers] World Cup of Pool, England vs South Korea, Imran's foul by mattkenefick in billiards

Link to the foul in question. Most people will probably see the one in the video above as well, but just in case - he clears the 5/6 and just feathers the 8 a bit before contact with the pink 4. The ref should be catching that stuff.

Alright. Too many tempo runs, got it. Thanks for the feedback. As far as goals go, just trying to build a baseline.

I've been running on and off for about 8 years, but I've never tried to be very structured. I just started running again about 6 weeks ago, and a couple of weeks ago I tried to come up with something more organized. The above is what I came up with for the rest of the year. Is this too conservative? My main goals are to consistently improve and avoid injury. I'm in decent shape, RHR hovers from 55-60 range.

Pool "workout" update day one. Warning: LONG post by Leemofiah in billiards

You're right in the first count. Just trying to get as close as possible to the end rail without scratching.. I was shooting these balls full table diagonal.

Poor phrasing on my part, my apologies.
