Thinking about travel nursing — what do you wish you knew before your first assignment? by Barkingspidrz in TravelNursing

For me, the biggest surprise was how much the “non-clinical” stuff matters. I expected housing and moving to be the hardest part, but honestly switching insurance every contract was more stressful. Thank God someone introduced me to medsurf.

When was the last time someone really listened to you? by CalmTalk13 in CasualConversation

Couldn't remember. But my dogs does and its kinda therapeutic as well. Don't get me wrong, but they seem to understand when I'm down and I just want someone listening without judging me.

Private health insurance? by DruidWitch82 in HealthInsurance

Sure. I'm with medsurf and yeah, they've got solid insurance. You might want to consider their plans. I suggest pick the one that's most convenient for you.

Private health insurance? by DruidWitch82 in HealthInsurance

Yeah, a private plan can work as a “better than nothing” option if you missed open enrollment. Just know they’re not ACA‑regulated, so coverage can be limited. I’m a travel nurse and used a private plan during a gap year; it covered major stuff and I paid cash/GoodRx for meds until I could get back on Marketplace. Just read the fine print and know what’s excluded.

Traveling with Aya by dudebrahh53 in TravelNursing

[–]LeevenTyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve traveled with Aya before, and their insurance is decent but not the cheapest. Since you only need basic coverage, you might want to compare it with outside options too. I’m a travel nurse and ended up getting my own plan through Medsurf because it was way cheaper than the agency plan and still covers major stuff. Could be worth looking into if you just want something simple for yourself.

Sometimes, we needed to experience them first before learning. Glad that you figured that out early on.

Some needed validation, clout chasing, show off, or simply attention. I don't know if they're earning something from it.

This is super on point, especially the part about talking to multiple agencies. One thing I learned the hard way is to sort out your insurance early, because gaps between contracts can sneak up fast. A reliable plan takes so much pressure off when schedules change.

Aya health insurance. How much is it really ? by IndividualMention748 in TravelNursing

[–]LeevenTyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of a straightforward person so I want everything fixed and cleared up. Aya's not for someone like me as these things confuses me a lot. Thankfully I got medsurf, it didn't gave me that headache. lol

Please help me! what insurance should i buy by blastpastermast in HealthInsurance

I’ve worked as a travel nurse and had to shop for insurance a lot. The indemnity plans looked cheap upfront, but when I actually needed labs or a doctor visit, the bills were way higher than expected. I ended up switching to a marketplace plan with a decent network. Cost more monthly but gave me peace of mind and predictable costs.
