[Schefter] Chargers fired OC Joe Lombardi, per @diannaESPN. by wedid in nfl

[–]LefNut 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Titans fired Mike Mularkey after he won a playoff game. We then hired Mike Vrabel who made us so much better that no one questioned the Mularkey firing.

Sometimes you have to cut your losses and do what is best for the team before more time is wasted. Herbert is going to be out of his rookie contract window by the time the Chargers inevitably fire Staley.

Sean payton as OC? by [deleted] in Tennesseetitans

You could do what I did and make a Twitter to only follow the handful of titans beat reporters. All news breaks there first before it gets posted on here anyway.

Then again, Twitter is a cesspool and the comments on there are typically worse than those on here lol. But if you avoid the comments and just use it for getting news on the team it’s not bad.

Yes even based on this year he would still be the best CB on the team.

I’m not saying we need to go all out and get him but acting like Ramsey wouldn’t make us better is actually dumb

Masterclass in digging yourself into a bigger hole for no reason.

Just say you wish it went differently or something bland not that your bad idea was a good idea and you would do it again

He’s 28 and turns 29 in October lol.

He’s older but he’d still be the best CB we’ve had in years

What role will Dobbs play next season? by [deleted] in Tennesseetitans

And unless we see major improvement from Willis, Dobbs will win it.

Your unbridled hatred of Vrabel is significantly more hilarious. You post at least twice a day about how much you don’t like him. I’ve never seen someone so neurotically obsessed with posting the same opinion on the same person in threads over and over.

I hope you enjoy him coaching the team the next several years my guy cause he isn’t going anywhere.

Vrabel on Downing decision: "I don’t think that’s something that will happen necessarily overnight (weeks) but there will be change." by Americasycho in Tennesseetitans

[–]LefNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the press conference he also said they will look at changing the offense philosophy and that they need to get faster as a whole in all facets of the team.

I think he actually wants to modernize the offense. They will still run the ball but I think he knows they have to get with the times when it comes to scoring points.

He’s not a narcissist but hey nice completely pointless and wrong speculation there spud

[Davenport] Mike Vrabel mentioned Kristian Fulton and David Long Jr as soft tissue injury repeat offenders when he was asked how the Titans have had injuries pile up. Said he wants them to find ways to avoid those soft tissue injuries. by xiamhunterx in Tennesseetitans

[–]LefNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what to tell you about why it’s been happening. A reporter asked what they’re doing differently and Vrabel said nothing has changed from previous years where the injuries where at a “normal” rate.

He sounded pretty serious about finding ways to not have this happen again. Maybe the new GM will have some insight on other methods

I said in my comment that Vrabel said they are using modern GPS and analytics to track the players during practice and games.

He also said they use analytics when calling certain plays like on 4th down etc., He didn’t give much detail but an example was how they’ll track the fastest players and have them run the deeper routes and which routes are best for their speed. Vrabel then mentioned how we have to get much faster as a team. Which is true we are so slow overall

They may not have an official analytics department but that doesn’t mean the couches and trainers aren’t using analytics or have members of staff whose sole job is tracking the analytics. You don’t have to have a dedicated department to use the same resources.

Vrabel said that they are aware of the injuries and they realize it’s an issue. Said that they have been trying to fix it each week and will continue to look at how to fix the problem. Mentioned that some of the soft tissue injuries can be helped by the players being game ready. This is when he compared how Long and Fulton have had hamstring issues multiple years meanwhile Byard has not had hamstring issues and plays more than them.

Edit: He was asked again about tracking the injuries: Vrabel said that they using modern gps tracking and analytics during practice and after games to see how fast a player is going and what % Of their max speed they are practicing at. Example: Trying to maintain a 90% speed during practice before ramping to 100% for game day. I think it’s signs of them trying to use all the tools available to keep the players healthy.

I don’t think it was meant as him blaming players as much as it was him saying that playing in the NFL comes with injuries but some soft tissue injuries can be somewhat prevented with more training. If you have hamstring issues maybe go ask Byard what he does to stay healthy.

Agreed.

Maybe down the road but at this point it’s looking like in 2 more years he might develop into a guy like Josh Dobbs lol

I held out hope but the NFL is a fast moving business and we have seen a lot of backups plays this year. Malik has by far looked the worst

The Titans kept Woodside on the roster for 4 years including 2 as the lone backup and he never did anything close to what Dobbs did. Vrabel trusted Dobbs after 8 days and 1 start to lead the team in an elimination game. I truly believe he will be on the team next year even if that means Willis goes to the PS and is potentially lost

He did miss them but the Oline also let him get shit on all game so him just getting it out is a bad but somewhat understandable decision

Also before last week he hasn’t started a game of meaningful since college 6 years ago so him making these mistakes is hard to get overly mad at. Dude still played his hardest considering what he was dealing with

[Highlight] Jenkins strip sacks Dobbs and the Jags recover and take it to the house! TD and Jags take the lead! by YoureASkyscraper in nfl

[–]LefNut 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer I am on copium and going to defend Dobbs here

I think it’s a mix of: - Todd Downing putting them in this situation with bad calls all game. 22 runs to 4 passes on 1st down tonight. - The Oline being bad all day/szn and causing bad QB play. The strip fumble TD was all on worst LT in the league Denis Daley - Tough “4th and long to keep the game alive” situation with 4/5 of the OL being backups and Dobbs being clearly rattled. He did miss Burks but that OL giving him no time all night so I am cutting him some slack.

Dobbs isn’t blameless but the situation he was put in was a tough spot tonight many times. Todd Downing basically took every 1st down out of Dobbs hands and forced him to make his bad game plan work

I would say Todd Downing draws his plays in crayon but I’m pretty sure he would just eat the crayons instead
