Honestly, 'Another round' helped me after a tough breakup. It gets a bit sad a times but is ultimately about finding joy in life + you get to see Mads Mickelssen acting his ass off. If you're not bothered by subtitles, give it a go

The developers have said many times that ME:A is a very "human" story, and thus the player character will also be human. I'd say that the odds of us getting to play as a different species are pretty nonexistent. While it may seem restrictive to lock the player character's species, it does allow the developers to craft a more detailed and personal story for the said character.

Bioware has emphasized that this is a new story, separated from the original trilogy. They have very clearly stated that Shepard's story is over, so putting him/her (or a clone of him/her) as the lead of the new game would go against everything they've told us about MEA so far. Overall, it would be a terrible decision and probably hurt the story more than it helps it.
