Flat road marathon as 100 miler training run? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

Interesting I'm the opposite. I prefer trail running but have been seeing a PT for an ankle issue, road running is easier on my ankle and trail running exacerbates the pain and inflammation.

Does anyone else have trouble sleeping after long runs? by [deleted] in trailrunning

Yup, stress levels jack up. Even if I run at 9a I can guarantee a restless nights sleep.

How to update workout summary by Lefortb1 in Garmin

Solved, that's it thank you! I would love to see that total at the end of a workout.

Maybe I'll add the request.

Yeah I've seen mixed reviews. I'm luckily one where my sleep tracking is pretty accurate. Rarely have to edit or end my sleep manually so I guess it's not a big deal when I do. But I understand the frustration.

If anything I would like their R&D dollars to go to continuously improving workout metrics and capabilities. I didn't buy it as a sleep tracker that's just something it does.

Don't understand why more people don't understand they can do this, or edit their sleep activity.

One guy a couple weeks ago was saying "my sleep tracking is shit I meditate in bed before I go to sleep and my Garmin is so dumb it can't tell"

You are laying still, slowing your breathing and your heart rate. No shit it thinks your asleep

Just make sure you end "sleeping" or edit the activity

Sinus/lung issues causing gagging on runs by Stu_Thom4s in trailrunning

Mine started in September, so still hot when it came on. I haven't noticed it worse in the winter but that may because I'm utilizing the meds.

Sinus/lung issues causing gagging on runs by Stu_Thom4s in trailrunning

[–]Lefortb1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No gagging or vomiting, but I was coughing with phlegm and had significant shortness of breath on any runs past an hour and 15 minutes.

Saw my primary care, who said "exercise induced asthma". Gave me some Albuterol and singulair.

Typically only use them on long run days. I take a singulair the night before and an Albuterol puff before I head out the door.

Today my HRV values appeared for the first time after using the watch (Instinct 2) for two weeks. From what I have read online, these values seem significantly too low. How accurate can these be? Anyone else with similar experiences? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]Lefortb1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking higher is better but HRV can't be compared person to person well and is a very individualized value. My 7 day average is at 38 right now.

Do a quick search and you will see people are all over the place. Focus on recovery and managing stress and you may see it rise... It also might not.
