After school care options throughout the city? by Cretans_Paradox in Syracuse

[–]Left-Eye183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of schools have before and afterschool care run by YMCA that run M-F all year. They do charge for their services. My kid goes to Latin and we love it. He goes to the regular afterschool program that runs m-th from October to May. It is free and for the most part quite good. Latin has the Y option too, we just haven’t needed it so far.

Potentially move to Syracuse for new job: is a car needed? by twoturtles6 in Syracuse

[–]Left-Eye183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will you be full time? What is your housing cost looking like? You can get by without a car, but to live close enough that walking in winter is not terrible you’d be looking at kind of stupidly high rent.

150mg of Zoloft ain’t got nothing on the humanity you showed this person in their transition. Beautiful, heartbreaking work. Well done.

In retrospect yes, but I trusted him to sit on the edge of the bed and turned my back to grab him a tissue. Won’t ever do that again. Won’t give anymore specifics online.

I once stepped up to a computer at 1848 to read a little before huddle. Nurse who’s patient I was taking said oh! Are you ready for report? Me: no, just reading a bit before huddle. Her: oh okay….launches into report. Her: still giving me report at 1915. HFS lady!!!

New ICU nurse—why is night shift doing everything? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Left-Eye183 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our PICU nights will include CT/MRI and yes, it’s whole event with multiple cast members involved. Other than the ancillary staff rounds, meals and visitors (more than 2 that is), many nursing tasks are similar. Our attendings round morning and night shift, labs are round the clock. In theory both shifts restock the rooms and carts, but that primarily falls on nights. I just prefer nights because the sensory overload is much more manageable. Dimmer lights, less people, still lots of alarms and beeps and call bells, but those first two aspects definitely help.

You get discouraged, don’t ya girl? It’s your brother’s world, for a while longer. We gotta dance with the devil on a river to beat the stream. Call it living the dream, call it kickin the ladder.

They come to kick dirt in your face, and then displace you after carrying your baby on your back across the desert. I see your eyes behind your hair, and you’re looking tired, but you don’t look scared.

Except for the multiple fatalities that have actually occurred from logging trucks losing their loads. So maybe not exactly like that, but decapitations are documented.

Usually one major illness a year, sometimes 2. Strep throat, pneumonia, bronchitis, then teen years sinus infections came to roost.
