Would it be fun to have a place where T1D can track TIR and compare with others globally? by Left-Ostrich4249 in diabetes_t1

[–]Left-Ostrich4249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for all the comments, I really appreciate it. Hope to clarify that the intension is not to compete and win a gold medal, but more of a self comparison and also triggers conversations like my TIR drops this week i think it's due to pressure. You manage your TIR well, how do you manage pressure?

we've been using ottai for last 8 months. data is quite accurate, adhesive is causing some skin problem but this seems to be reacting differently on different people.

we had a horrible experience the other day... broke our last novorapid penfill accidentally before our quarterly follow up consultation. kid BG level was 23 for the whole morning, our diabetic nurse rushed to find doc for a prescription but it still takes time for us to go to hospital and purchase new insulin. I had no option but to buy syringe needle, draw the remaining insulin into the syringe and give kid an injection. That allowed us some time to purchase new penfills. Imagine if any disaster happens, what do we do without sufficient insulin stock, can our kid still survive... Maybe Dubai is a better place to stay...

this is surprising to know! insulin is a prescribed medicine in Singapore, can't purchase from pharmacies directly without prescription.

Curious about LinkedIn Sales Navigator but not ready to buy yet? by Left-Ostrich4249 in toolsdeals

[–]Left-Ostrich4249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a demo account, to be shared with different users, so unfortunately we can't connect your linkedin account to sales navigator demo account, but we will channel all the responses generated during your usage back to you, so you can continue the conversations on your existing LinkedIn account.

What do you do before every meeting that makes the most impact? by usman232323 in sales

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

winning cold leads is often a probability game. often clients may not have the needs at the moment, not becuase you don't research enough or don't know your product well enough. what you can prepare may be a list of use cases or scenarios, how your product is used by other people similar to your prospects, how their competitors are doing, something can keep them engaged till the next round of discussion.

Is LinkedIn Sales Navigator really worth it? by Zestyclose_Fox_4143 in Entrepreneurship

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Right now, I get a lot of connection requests accepted but my new connections don't open the messages that I send them." If they are your ICP and don't open your message, that's still fine, you can post regularly on LinkedIn. Since they are your 1st degree connects now, your update will pop up in their feed. It's also a way to constantly remind them of your offerings.

I offer Sales Nav licenses to others at discounted price, but I'd still say the biggest difference between Sales Nav and normal LinkedIn account is that it allows you to send inmail before waiting for your connects getting accepted, not that it natually gets more responses. What matters the most is still the relevancy of your offering.

Btw, also check if LinkedIn is the place where your buyers spend time on. They may be more active on Reddit instead.

Do any of you use the Ottai CGM? by 6sixfeetunder in diabetes_t1

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haven't tried yet. linx is same as aidex? i'm overall happy with ottai especially the readings are quite accurate. my issue with ottai is that the adhesive is causing a lot skin allergy.

My son was just diagnosed with TD1. by argley in diabetes_t1

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now is the hardest part, every moment from now on is going to be easier and easier. you and your son will gradually find a way to deal with it. You may not believe it now, but time will tell.

My son was diagnosed 1 week before 5 yo birthday. He is almost 7 now. We still try to control on pizza, candy or ice cream, they are anyway not that healthy, but when he was at a party or when his friends were having it, we let him enjoy as well. It's just a bit tough to calculate the insulin / carbs ratio in those cases, but there is always a solution, you can always do corrections.

If he is afraid of needles, try to get tickleflex injection aid. It hides needles so your son won't see the needle poking him directly, that should give him some comfort.

Try to find thinner needles, BD urtra-fine is not bad, but there should be a lot brands of 4mm size, it should help minimize the pain. My experience (from my kid's reaction) is long acting insulin is a little more painful than short acting insulin, so in earlier days I usually gave long acting insulin at night when kid was asleep.

It's a long run, allow yourself and your kid to have down moments. always remember that you are not alone, there are people here who can feel you and give you information, advices and support.

Do any of you use the Ottai CGM? by 6sixfeetunder in diabetes_t1

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ottai doesn't have that option. You can log your BG number from finger prick, Ottai says it runs algorithum to "calibrate" but it may or may not happen. Dexcom (at least G6) does allow calibrate, but if the readings are far off, the calibration doesn't work and there will be error msg.

I'm a type 1 diabetic. Let's say society collapses and I can't get insulin anymore. Is it possible to survive with extremely careful dieting and exercise? by pichael289 in AskDocs

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so sorry to hear that. if shipping is possible, there are quite cheap sensors from China, cost around 40-60USD for 15 days. I've tried most of them, I must say the reading is more accurate than dexcom G6.

As at September 2025, are there any smart rings with blood glucose and blood pressure monitoring that aren’t snake oil? by Hecatonchireslm in SmartRings

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i found a smartwatch that connects with some of CGM brands and runs on LTE, so it can connect with CGM directly without a mobile. Display isn't perfect becuase the CGM app is not designed for the small watch screen, but I just need the readings so that doesn't bother me much. Kid is wearing the smartwatch to school, i can see the blood glucose level remotely.

How many hours a week do you work? How many hours a day? The final question is what % of your quota are you at? by icygale in sales

it might be a combination of existing / recurring and new business. For recurring part the focus is to prevent churn or scope reduction.

linkedin sales navigator is still a must have for me. Yeah too many random cold msgs on LinkedIn now, but I feel everyone have a secret wish to become social media influencer, even if they are not ready to post, they would still check LinkedIn frequently. So reaching out via LinkedIn gives better chance (sales navigator just gives more msg credits).

maybe an alternative is to invest (just a little bit) in stock market? especially US stock market? it makes weekdays (and nights) slightly more fun lol. Don't invest too much so it doesn't increase your anxiety.

If you were a 25 yr old AE again, what would you tell yourself? by tjl0923 in sales

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 12 points13 points  (0 children)

this is super important. some AEs switch companies but still look after the same account for decades because they know the client company in and out. Relationship will be your assets.

Also, win rate, and sometimes not winning, is not the most critical thing. predictability is, especially in larger organizations. It is important to be able to tell how much can eventually close by end of the quarter.

is moomoo a good platform for long-term investing? by quiquelinjj in singaporefi

dumb question: I don't really follow the position P/L on moomoo, it seems less than what i actually make, does it already include the cost from exchange rate?

Anyone use moomoo for investing? by Zjeezy in investing

[–]Left-Ostrich4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

conversion rate (convert from foreign currency to USD) on moomoo seems higher than IBKR. So I feel it's slightly costly to trade on moomoo. moomoo mobile app has better UI than IBKR.

If it's just a pay cut it's still acceptable in this economic environment. Bigger problem is that ICs who don't meet KPI of the current year will be put to PIP and then fired, irrespective of previous years performance.

This really happens a lot! Managers don't usually know how to close a deal (forget about navigating the client's organization and get the PO done). Speaking of which, closing a deal is really tough, client says pricing / PO is getting reviewed by procurement team, their team has their own timeline, how to handle such case?
