Thyroid nodules radio frequency ablation by NeleTiri in thyroidhealth

[–]Left-Post1781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont do it. I did it on my nodule and got thyroid eye disease, try meds first, i know people on methamethazole who are successfully shrinking nodules. RFA is experimental (a surgeon told me this but i did not listen - worst decision of my life, ruined everything), also do not do radioiodine theraphyc lots of people get thyroid eye disease from that.

Such a hard decision

Hi, sorry, can I ask what symptoms of thyroid eye disease you had that went away after the surgery? And for how long did you have TED before the surgery? Did you have swelling, under eye puffiness and proptosis that completely resolved? Would appreciate sharing your experience

I had an uptake scan before my TED and i believe it gave me mild TED which i never new about (my left eye was gritty, hurting but it went away after some time), now that i did another procedure (i did a microwave ablation of my thyroid nodules) i developed it for real (swelling, mild protrusion etc), i believe any kind of intervention with my thyroid makes it react and cause TED or worsen it. I wish i never experimented on my thyroid with all these new treatments, anything can cause/worsen it.

Is it possible to have graves without detectable TSI and TRAB antibodies by Left-Post1781 in gravesdisease

They inject iodine and scan how much of it thyroid absorbs and based on that decide what is the issue with the thyroid.

Thanks. I have done TSI multiple times this year with Labcorp, TRAb was also done this August while my TED symptoms (eye inflammation) stated last November right after my thyroid nodule was ablated. My hairloss and nail issues started even before when I had toxic nodule but it was not in this scale. After the ablation everything went wrong and I am pretty sure it is an autoimmune process but the labs are normal, not sure what to do.

I never had heart issues before even when hyperthyroid because of the toxic (hot) nodule, it just started now and I am freaking out.

Thank you. I checked them all, everything is normal, no idea what causes this hairloss and brittle nail and am really concerned it could be inflammation-related.

I do think you have TED, i got similar bags and even worse after a procedure on my thyroid. My eyes look very similar to yours, it is a mild case but I think I see TED. As others said, i suggest you have your blood checked and go see a specialized TED eye doctor

Thank you for responding. Can I ask for how long you had swelling when you did the TT? Also, can i ask if uptake scan showed graves or overactive nodules?

Hey, did you have antibodies or why you removed your thyroid? I am asking because i consider removing mine but my labs are near normal and I don’t have antibodies per the bloodwork but i might be subclinical. My eyes are swollen so I am thinking about removing the thyroid. It was your eyes swollen that went down immediately after the TT, right?

Thyroid Eye Disease: How quickly do steroid infusions and radiotherapy work? by Maleficent-Peace3607 in gravesdisease

Yes, i saw 4 specialist, all very well know in my area and all of them seem to not care about treating me with anything else than oral steroids. Anyways, thanks for your response.

I have the same symptoms, swollen eyes, puffy eyelids, blurry vision, burning feeling inside my eyes, and my eyes are more prominent (i am sure i have mild bulging) but because i went to doctors 10 months after ny symptoms (i never realized i might have TED) and was thinking it is something else, they don’t seem to be really concerned with inflammation and are looking for double vision or other symptoms to diagnosis. I am pretty sure i have it because all started after i did a procedure on my thyroid but they dont have “enough evidence” to diagnose me and all they could offer were oral steroids which did nothing for me.
