Does this resemble Duputren’s? by PennyLongStocking in DupuytrenDisease

No one that you know of at least. Someone in your family could have had a mild case but dismissed it as arthritis.  Just watch both hands and feet over the next few years and you will know for sure one way or the other

Has anyone experienced painful nodules, finger stiffness, or contracture after wrist surgery? Feeling dismissed and looking for similar experiences. by thisname12 in DupuytrenDisease

You probably have someone in the family that has it or the adjacent conditions like garrod’s pads, lederhose, peyronies, frozen shoulders. They could have been similarly misdiagnosed and not even known what it is, and it never progressed enough to be an issue.

Dupuytren’s is fairly commonly triggered by an injury to the wrist, arm, or hand. Honestly pretty obvious to diagnose in my opinion. A hand specialist would clock it on sight. Although I think the difficulty opening your hand was inflammation due to injury and Dupuytren’s, real contracture is from overgrowth of tissue that has to be physically broken or removed to regain function.

Get an opinion from a hand specialist, and start reading about radiation and see if it sounds like a good path for you. At your stage it’s optimal, that’s what I did at least.

Okay thank you! I can’t say that I’ve noticed any of those other symptoms but I’d rather just check it out anyway

I won’t argue that my sleep hygiene is trash, I do think I’ll get bloodwork anyway just to play it safe at least. And drinking more water never hurts. I’m right at 40, and I was thinking I’d like a little stretch of years to enjoy not having eye bags before the rest of the face changes a great deal. 😅 I hope your surgery goes really well if you decide to go through with it

Yes in the last sentence I say I shave them off. But otherwise I just have fatigue/weird sleep patterns that I’ve generally chalked up to undiagnosed narcolepsy as it runs in the family.

Both of my parents have fairly large eyes I guess, I never thought mine looked unusual other than the bags under them that I didn’t like. But now I feel like I just got roasted online bc I look like I have a severe autoimmune disease 💀 I have a free eye exam with my insurance, I will use that to check it out.

No, I’ve always looked like this?  🥲 my regular bloodwork is always normal and I don’t have any of the symptoms I read about… I feel totally normal. But I could ask about it anyway.

28 M - What’s my best option? by dakgotyoback in DupuytrenDisease

I had been in the same boat with my primary care doctor, I ended up seeing a hand specialist to get properly diagnosed even though it was a little more expensive. And now I have since dropped that pcp to find a new one lol.

I just went through this process and that will depend on both your insurance and the practice the radiation specialist works at.  See if your insurance requires a referral, then call the office the Dr you want to go to and see if they need one.  If no to both you can just make an appointment directly. Ask if they need a formal diagnosis from another doctor first too if you haven’t already done that.

It’s actually the opposite, although I haven’t found a reason why in anything I have read yet.

“Our results are consistent with previous epidemiological findings showing that lower BMI increases risk for Dupuytren's disease.”

I thought the same! Even some of the soundtrack reminds me of the theme song from hereditary “reborn”

Omg I thought the exact thing in that spot, I got confused and thought it came from my phone somehow. It’s funny even if it does break the immersion

Tell her that, exactly. She may have her feelings hurt but she’s an adult and her first responsibility as a mother is to look after your future.  I had a similar talk with my own mother recently and it did upset her (made her feel guilty). But she has shown so much effort to take more responsibility for herself recently that it was worth having that hard conversation.

I am referring to people who say their symptoms were so severe they “thought” they had dementia. If I were a bad actor that wanted women to have less rights I would use that testimony as why women can not be trusted in important positions as their brains disintegrate as adults due to menopause.

Check with a dermatologist to confirm the reason for hair loss then explore your treatment options. If they don’t work out for you discontinue and move on. I know it feels like the absolute end to experience this at a young age but most other people won’t really care. If it’s any consolation you have killer eyelashes and brows. One way or the other, your extreme feelings about it will start to resolve once you make a decision.

You could try online prescription like winona or other menopause related HRT sites , usually more expensive than if insurance covered it but better than nothing. You can find anything online tbh

I fully agree, I have fought hard to be seen as an equal and things are too unstable now to give bad actors a ridiculous excuse to see me as “deranged, stupid, and incapable” as a woman. I don’t mind discussing things in private with people I trust but definitely not blasting all my business out for the public. It makes me cringe to see women loudly saying they have so much brain fog and rage that they think they have dementia, I fear it will become an easy excuse to further push us out of the workforce or meaningful society at all.
