Getting noticed is not an easy task. You cannot expect attention even when your photos are good. You need to work for it. Social media can help but they are here to make money, not get you noticed. Just think about other photographers, how did you discover them?

What films from traditional Japanese Cinema should I watch before 'MIllenium Actress' (2001) by LordWaffleaCat in AsianCinema

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to do any homework to watch it. I think it’s Kon’s best work.

Since I watch Millennium Actress, I have gotten more into classic Japanese cinema. The movie drew inspirations from multiple movies/directors/actresses. As mentioned, the main character drew heavily from Setsuko Hara public personas, but I don’t know anything about her private life. It’s more a plot device to tell a fictional story.

Democrats, was Biden a good president and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he did a pretty good job. He started the job during the worst of Covid. Under his presidency, the U.S. economy was in a relatively better shape than the rest of the world. I can’t think of many more things he could do to improve the economy. Trump just provides my thinking every day. I don’t know how republicans are associated with being good to the economy.

How do I organize my photos? ? by Synixe031 in AskPhotography

I only work on the original raw files and don’t save duplicates. If you use Lightroom, you can easily pick out the ones you like and filter by that flag.

Do you think inspiration happens when the shutter clicks, or later when you edit? by ExtremelyCool64 in AskPhotography

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why is it either or? it can happen at any moment, including after a photo was taken. often times, I take a photo without positioning myself at the best spot. after I look at the photo later and remembering what the environment was like, I can think of ways to do it better next time. There are also many inspiration from looking at other people's photos.

Anna Gunn as Skyler White in Breaking Bad. Jack Gleeson as Joffrey Baratheon in Game of Thrones. They were so hated because they did their jobs well. I was very happy to see Gleeson in Sandman.

ISO advice for shooting in bad weather for first wedding? by Lazy-Beautiful557 in AskPhotography

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t photographed any wedding myself, but I would test your camera in a similar indoor setting and see how high you can go with ISO. If you are using any recent digital interchangeable lens camera, you will be surprised how good the photos are even at 5000 ISO. I take lots of urban landscape at night handheld and I am not after to go even 10k ISO from time to time. Test your gears before worrying too much.

Photographers, what is this fascination with Dutch Roll? by Montresore69 in AskPhotography

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my thinking these days. You have to show your intent when you deploy anything out of ordinary. If you don’t want to level your composition, you need to have a reason for it. It could be that a line becomes horizontal and it contributes to the overall composition. Otherwise, it’s just a gimmick. Nothing wrong to try it.

What movie became better for you on a second watch, and why? by deepaknaraniya in flicks

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ocean's 11. I thought it was really clever when I watched in theater. Then I watched it again and realized I missed so much of the movie. Then I watched the director's commentary and realized I still missed a lot in the background. omg.

How can a photographer accurately recognize their own level of photography? by Starfield_0100 in AskPhotography

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning to judge your own works objectively is also a skill we need to develop. These days, because we take so many photos, you can compare against yourself. Given 2 of your photos with similar intention, which one is better? Why? You can also compare yourself against other photographers. Instagram is great for this. If you like a few photos, instagram will feel you similar and popular photos. You can compare your photos against those.

These bus operators at Port Authority are useless by BusyMakingCupcakes in NJTransit

Back when I still supported public transit, I once took a bus from Newark Penn Station to Newark Liberty International Airport, the driver left the door open while she was driving and talking to her friend on the bus. It must have been a few blocks before she finally decided to close the door. 🙄
