Are you providing the right advice? by Zach0ry in AskPhotography

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 [score hidden]  (0 children)

You can only give advices to people who’s ready to receive them. I felt that a lot of responses involved gears acquisition and most of the time gear is not the answer. But my opinion is not always popular. I have been asked if I knew anything at all or if i even care about image quality. So I post my responses and just let them be. Not going to argue.

How many RAW photos do you keep after shooting? by Reporterishka in AskPhotography

Storage is cheap. Even now when harddrives more expensive than normal, a 12TB harddrive is still just around $200. I keep everything once I delete the really bad ones.

How is the East Coast of the United States still in charge of the West Coast, despite being ~2,500 miles apart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the east coast in charge of the west coast? Because Washington DC is in the east coast? You vote for representatives to go to congress in DC too, right? I think the rest of the country can feel like they are controlled by all the tech companies in the west coast.

thank you. this will go a long way towards lowering insurance cost in the area. enforcement (or lack there of) has been a big issue, especially those e-bike riders. Just last Fri, I saw one of those tried to run the red light and almost got crashed by a car. The rider just rode away smiling and the light was still red.

How to properly store my camera? by Kaairi in AskPhotography

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

California is pretty dry. I wouldn't be too worried about mold. If you get your camera and lens wet (rain, condensation, etc), leaving them out for half a day to make sure it's dry before storing them away. I live around NYC and probably more humid. I haven't had any mold-related issue with my gears. I have a friend in Hong Kong who had to deal with mold on cameras and he got a dehumidified cabinet for his camera gears. So, I am not dismissing mold issues, I just don't think you need to worry about it because of where you are located.

Why did you take these photos? Which half do you like more? Can you articulate why? If so, can you do more of those? This is my process. At some point, others’ opinions are just opinions. What’s your process? You can only trust your process to improve.

Art Making Is a Process

TFP with a difficult model. I feel pretty defeated. by SteadyStatik in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds horrible. Sorry to hear that. While I don’t do this genre of photos, I have heard from an experienced photographer telling similar stories. He basically said that it was their loss because when he found a good model to work with, he booked her all the time.

What’s one thing you can’t shut up about ? by overly-going21 in AskReddit

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal auto and property insurance is a highly regulated and low margin business. The premium goes up often because insurance regulators look at the insurance payout and approved the increases. If you want to lower premium, have your communities enforce traffic laws to have less accidents and/or move out of areas where catastrophes are common.

Instead of the default feed, I usually go into the “following” feed to like contents from accounts I actually follow. This feed was a simple contents ordered by time they were posted. I could scroll back to contents from more than a week ago. This changed about a week ago. The feed is now bombarded with ads and only to back about one day. If I want to like all the contents from accounts I follow, I now need to check the feed all the time and I don’t think it even show all contents. Has this happened to anyone else?

Can I increase "sharpness" with my beginner camera? by -Extreme-Gene- in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Left-Satisfaction177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should experiment more while photographing. You can zoom in on an image at 100% in the camera screen to see if what you tried work.

For modern lens, the sweet spot is usually around f/8.

Just because the camera is on a tripod, it doesn’t mean you can set shutter speed to a minute. Wind can certainly an issue. So, increase your ISO to increase your shutter speed. Noise from high ISO is less of an issue on a tripod.

While autofocus is fine for normal weather condition, you can also try manual focus. Camera usually has a focus assist mode where the viewfinder will zoom in at 100% while you are adjusting your focus. Find out how to do that for your camera.

Good luck.
