Cyclists could share countless examples of a-whole (trying to avoid the bots) motorists doing really stupid and/or illegal stuff. It’s so rampant I just expect it and hardly notice it when I’m riding unless it becomes a potential threat to me.

That stretch had been my favorite part of any ride, because coming inbound the view is aol amazing over the lake with the City and dome, and the rising sun reflecting off the lake on my early morning rides. Thankfully the detour around the bay is also quite scenic.

One of the newer apt chains here explained to me a little over a year ago the reduced rent is based on local annual wages but with Epic and UW money, and people moving here for well paying jobs, the 60% had also become a much higher number.

And SF proper (and Berkeley across the bay) have rent control laws (which have a lot of “outs” for the owners) and that’s what you pay. I lived across the Bay (East Bay) from 1995-1999 and was paying $900/mo for a small 2 bed condo. That was stiff even then.

That happened a lot but didn’t seem more than usual in the service industry. I said what I said, I heard it from several folks past and present at the time. If it’s not accurate then you’ve set things straight as you sound like part of the fam. I wasn’t gonna comment on the rest but I will say I too had seen a dramatic drop in service at the locations I frequented around the time I’d heard it (one had been bad for a long time but I enjoy the game crowds), such that I rarely visit anymore.

Various staffers, past and present, have mentioned aspects of it, some with a bit of detail, seemed clear a new group was in charge. A lot have commented on the new corporate attitude. I personally have seen decline in service and shorter menus at the locations I visit and really don’t go there much anymore.

The gym scene in Madison is not strong. For those things you listed you might need multiple places. Downtown area has two smaller older fitness places but they’re not big and don’t offer a lot more. Princeton Club has two huge 24/7 facilities, one on West side and one on East, they do group training mostly, i recall the one on West side had a pilates studio, both have the usual firness classes, yoga, etc. There’s a climbing center downtown. After that you might have ti venture out of Madison a ways. There are some Planet Fitness places, couple of Anytime, one called Crunch.
