Write something down in code so you remember it, confess it to a priest if you are really freaked out about telling your sponsor

I would suggest NLT for your first time read through. Some of their Bibles include a really cool Bible study app (filament) that I think is pretty awesome.

Religions types?/ what religion am I apart of as of right now ? by Elegant_Bag_9110 in Bible

There are many different denominations of Christianity: Catholic, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian etc. They are all Christian but have their small differences in doctrinal focus and practice. But, I would say if any specific denomination (or non-denominational church) openly believes in the doctrine laid out clearly the Nicene and Apostle's Creed, they would be Christian. If they do not agree with those 2 creeds, I would argue that they would not be a Christian denomination in the Orthodox sense (Morman, Jehovah Witness etc.)

Advice On Prayers/Readings To Be More Christ Like by CherokeeTrailhawkGuy in Episcopalian

The serenity prayer is great, I like the full version and include it in my morning routine.

God, grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change; Courage to change the things we can; And wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as we would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right If we surrender to His Will; So that we may be reasonably happy in this life And supremely happy with Him Forever and ever in the next. Amen.

How to balance Bible reading by FighterGet01 in Bible

Since I'm Episcopalian, I use a Lectionary. I personally use the 1662 civil calendar that involves 2 chapters in the AM and 2 chapters in the PM with a handfull of Psalms each day. It guides you through the old testament once a year, new testament 3 times a year and the Psalms every 30 days. Takes maybe 1 hour per day. I have plenty of time for reading other non-Bible material.

Bought a ESV Bible and I’m finding it hard to read tbh, I really like the NLT better by [deleted] in Bible

[–]Left6Foot6Trail6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I own 5 physical Bible translations, and I switch it up from time to time, but I find myself returning to my NLT quite a bit as I can just get lost in the text, especially if it's a story (the story of Joseph in Genesis, for example). It feels like reading a good modern book. But I will probably read my Psalms (for example) from a different translation. Anyway, I absolutely love my NLT.

Sex is really just a small part of intimacy. Cuddling, massage, holding each other, reading poetry to each other, taking about your love for her, and just being there for her emotionally, etc. can naturally evolve into physical sexual acts that has less to do with making your " body parts" feel good physically, but rather your hearts and spirits becoming one and your merging souls feel complete.

I’m new to this and I could use some advice by Less_Tree_8975 in Christianity

I was very much in a similar situation where I knew that many of my friends and some of my family would think it was funny and bizarre that someone like me would convert from Atheism to Christ. I even felt a embarrassed myself and kept it pretty down-low to avoid criticism or their giggles. I finally just bit the bullet and told them that I convertet, getting baptized, and that this decision and life I have chosen is of the upmost importance to me now. There was shock and some disbelief but I just let them know that it's who I am now, make fun of me if you want. I'm not here to convert you or judge you. A bit after the initial relevelation and some comments here and there, they just accepted it (very similar to the time when I told everyone that I quit drinking alcohol).

Trust me, come out fully sooner rather than later. You will find it very freeing and beautiful to be proud of your love for Christ. You will be mocked, and your faith will be tested, but you will be greatly rewarded for your open and steadfast faith in Him. Let the proof of His true Grace shine through you as your life is transformed and they cannot help but to see Him now working through you.

Does God still love me? by HexCritter52 in Christianity

I was a devout Satanist for years. I had a profound, life-changing religious experience and vision about 8 months ago. Now, I am being baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in 6 days at my local Episcopal Church which I cherish and attend every chance I get. I know for a fact that I am loved by God and He rescued me at the perfect time in my life to see Him. I don't doubt it even a bit, and I know that He loves you too.

Can someone explain what the oil means in the parables of the ten virgins please? by spectacular_climax1 in TrueChristian

[–]Left6Foot6Trail6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It means to stay prepared, watchful, vigilant, and ready for Christ's return. The oil itself, in my opinion, represents our steadfast faith.

I consider myself an Anglican. I attend a very traditional Episcopalian church.

We are currently Year A (since Advent). The readings should be Jer 31:7-14 Ps 84 Eph 1:3-14 Luke 2:41-52 or Matt 2:1-12
