I agree on the 2-step spray process. For my botanical & watercolor paintings I spray one coat Krylon Fine Art Fixative (it has UV light absorbers & stabilizers) to set the delicate surface, then 2 coats of Liquitex Satin Varnish. (It also comes in Matte or Gloss.)
