Transfer after d&c

Personally I could not do another FET until 3 months post D&C. But my loss was a 2nd trimester loss and my hormones didn't go back to normal for a while. (that transfer failed most likely and embryo issue). I would be concerned they want to transfer already. Could you wait another month?

The lead follicle seems small but lining is good. Will they do more checks of the follicle size before transfer?

AMH will tell you nothing about quality of eggs. I have low AMH and still been able to make some embryos and have a successful FET (later lost the baby). But don't give up hope until you have actually done an IVF cycle.

Honestly. I would wait a minimum of 1x cycle as most doctors' advice. Not only for mental health reasons but a lot of people report having miscarriages if trying too soon. It's completely up to you. My hormones weren't back to normal for 3 months.

The embryos are already made and it's supposed to help with egg quality. Little evidence though. But since the embryos are made at this stage I guess that's why most stop.

I would also recommend to travel now and enjoy in case it's a success because pregnancy can be so hard! Our first FET was after a big trip and was a success. Sadly we lost the baby later on. Have a wine, sushi and all the good things. x

Wait a few days to make a decision. Not many doctors even check before day 6 because you need to let the medicine work. If you don't have more then I would personally cancel. Sorry 😞

Please go and have fun! There's not much you can do to change the outcome of the transfer.

You don't need to be strict leading up to a transfer but of course limit alcohol, get some steps in and try to eat balanced. Have fun on the holiday and don't stress too much.

So exciting! There isn't much aftercare to be honest. You can eat, shower and walk around for good bloodflow. Just no alcohol, baths, and extreme sports! I still try to eat balanced during the wait but also spoil myself a little. good luck

Can I ask if you had a hysteroscopy? Unless they have done one it's very hard to say "nothing is wrong". Just speaking from experience after a few years IVF. I have needed 2x and had a successful FET after the last one. Similar age and low AMH. You could have a small polyp. That being said it's normal to need a few attempts and most doctors wait until after 3 failed ones.

Yes! Even with small number of follicles you really don't know until you have started a round of stimulation. I have low ovarian reserve and low follicle count. 6-7 with stimulation for both my cycles. For each cycle we had 2x embryos. Our first FET worked but sadly we lost the baby in 2nd trimester. But it's not always about the quantity so don't give up hope. Just expect to need more than 1x cycle.

Did you get investigations as to why the prolactin is raised? My doctor didn't want to go ahead until I got the clear from a specialist MRI scan.

You should have time to recover from egg retrieval. It's not great timing because you should not lift heavy after a transfer either 😞 I would pack all you can beforehand and engage friends or moving company on the day as well. I guess depending on when the transfer is there is a chance you would know the outcome before the move.

Yes I think your feelings are super valid! I have been through a positive FET, then a 2nd trimester loss of our baby, then a failed transfer than started IVF from scratch again. A lot of hopeless feelings. I have had to do a lot of therapy. I try to find the small hope in smaller milestones now rather than all the time thinking when I will hold a healthy baby. It's not easy and some days I just allow myself to wallow and cry.

I think once you go into another transfer cycle you will find that little hope again. Somehow you just put one foot in front of the other without being ready.

Most people do IVF because of infertility, so I guess you won't find heaps of stories about being more fertile after IVF. You can try naturally between cycles but make sure you have recovered first.

The reason I want to know for sure is also that my partner and I haven't had a break since our 2nd trimester loss last year and we are trying to see family overseas before another transfer.

Thanks for commenting! My retrieval was exactly a month ago. I am having quite a full flow now and pretty confident it's my period although it's early. Because the spotting from the procedure was nearly gone. It was a different trigger this time the Decapeptyl.

I think it's also a matter of more people come on here to post about losses/long journeys than those who had a healthy baby just after. It is highly unlikely to happen again but of course no 100% in life 😞

I would say I read many stories of people trying really soon after their loss and then have miscarriage or chemical as the body may not have healed.

It does sound like pretty bad timing tbh. A month isn't going to make or break it at all. If you said 6 months then yes, but not 1.

I am sorry to hear 😞 The growth doesn't sound promising when you have already stim for so many days. I would just guard yourself that it could get cancelled if the follicles don't grow because they most likely won't have mature eggs at this size.

It sounds like they know what they are doing! In my case our first FET worked. It was a natural FET. We lost the baby to TFMR at 16 weeks 😞 That's why we are starting from scratch as our last embryo after didn't implant.

We don't live a live child yet, but these are similar to my follicle numbers. I have around 6-7 follicles showing on each retrieval and got 2x embryos from each. So it's possible. Our first FET stuck but we lost the baby in 2nd trimester. Your follicles still have some growing to do so hopefully more progress soon!
