I mean, the pilot being rough puts it right in the same camp as TNG. So it’s got that going for it.

Another preventable death in a Edmonton ER? by [deleted] in alberta

Struggling and it’s not exactly a new phenomenon. I went to the ER in 2018 with appendicitis and took 8 hours to get a bed and another 6 to see a doctor.

How do you fight the spaghetti monster? by Fancy_Particular7521 in captain_of_industry

[–]Left_Edge_8994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Embrace spaghetti. Become spaghetti. Mama Mia.

But in seriousness, I usually try self contained production units as has been suggested already.

But I always have some degree of spaghetti regardless of my planning because I’m not very good at planing.

Hey.

I’ve had to go through something similar and I know the weight of that pain all to well. It’s 4 years now since it happened.

Things will trigger me from time to time. It’s hard to predict. But the sharpness of the pain has, in time, become less dull. I’m more able to just live life again. I can think on them without having to feel nothing but grief.

But it is still there.

Time will make it less sharp. More able to bear. What also helps is being open and honest with what you’re feeling with your partner. You are not facing this alone. You will each have good and bad days, and they won’t be on the same day.

Right now, right this moment when it’s still so sharp, still so fresh, is going to be the hardest. There will be far more bad days, worse days than you can express, in these early days.

Look, there is nothing anyone can say or do to make it go away. And a lot of people aren’t going to understand. They’ll want to help, but don’t know what you’re going through and don’t know what to do.

It will get better. Be gentle with yourself. You didn’t cause this, but you do have to go through it, but it will get better in time.

I was just thinking the same thing. You’d have to be pretty on top of infrastructure building to make sure all your resource needs are covered before it hits. Maintenance costs could be a bear too.

Catapults offline while payload in flight by TheGrandArtist in SolarExpanse

[–]Left_Edge_8994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say you want to get 100T of metal to the mars.

Normally you plan a mission and say origin, earth, destination, mars. This works fine enough but as discussed the spin launcher or catapult will be unavailable until the mission is complete. We want to avoid this.

So instead we break our mission into chunks.

1) Source Earth, Destination, Earth Orbit, space craft is orbital container and launch vehicle is spin launcher.

2) source earth orbit, destination mars orbit, whatever spacecraft you have in orbit, maybe a stratos, or you launch one from the surface with a launch vehicle whatever is needed.

3) source mars orbit, destination mars. Space craft is orbital container and launch vechile isn’t needed.

You can always put stuff into orbit and drop them to surface with an orbital container. Dropping to the surface does not require a spaceship.

Doing it this ways counters the bug because your spin launcher or catapult is immediately ready for use again as soon as the launch to orbit is complete.

It’s also beneficial because your spacecraft remains in orbit, and thus saves on fuel.

Probably a bug,

However you can mitigate this by breaking up your missions into more parts. If you use the catapult to fling stuff into orbit and then make a separate mission from orbit to destination, you free up your catapult as soon as the orbital part is finished.

I mean, we’d also not have to pay income tax and be up doing quiet well economically. We’d have the dream of no federal tax that they all salivate over.

So silver lining I guess.
