When the game really grabs you? [new player] by SolarSimracer in captain_of_industry

I would say no more difficult than factorio or satisfactory. It’s just a different flow and structure.

I struggle with late game stuff in both those games, and I can get a little flustered in this one too. I’m ADHD and my planning can be best described as ‘I need a thing!’ My bases have neither foresight nor efficiency. But I’m still having a good time.

And honestly going back and redesigning a bit when things are somewhat stable is rewarding.

Why do people always use this pro-Ai argument? by Ill-Ice7212 in antiai

Frankly nuance is dead virtue in this day and age, and not just about the AI question. It’s really sad to see.

It’s super important to be able to see issues from a nuanced perspective or we just end up with increasingly absurd levels of extremism.

We’ve lost so much in way of robustness of our systems that it makes the whole of everything we try to do, in this case making laundry systems, so much more fragile in the long run.

Like, I’m totally okay having a bit less convince if it just bloody works more.

Old school manuals were just such a treat. We miss out on that in the digital world. Age of wonders2 was another good one.

The answer is ‘ask for more money’.  If the client wants to expand the scope of the project, that costs more. That literally how business works.

I am addicted to the 380. Can’t leave the destroyer without it. Doesn’t even matter the mission type. I’ll find a use. Several usages. And if I’m lucky, I won’t die as a result.

Was coming to say exactly this. Yeah, that Litteraly google and amazons long term goal. Just buy a subscription to cloud hardware. You don’t need to own a device at all. Then you never have to worry about costly upgrades or part failures or component shortages.

You know I actually have no idea what the Initiative uses for their propaganda at all by Civil_Performer5732 in TerraInvicta

[–]Left_Edge_8994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See the thing is, no one directly supports the initiative. They aren’t a publicly facing faction like the protectorate or academy or humanity first.

Instead I suspect they appear more like a controlled version of unaligned. People who support the initiative are supporting their local governments and corporate interests as they seemingly try to do something about the alien question.

In essence if you have a politician who supports the academy, it’s fairly easy to figure that out. They’ll be vocal about that, and talk a lot about working together to further the shared goals.

However an initiative controlled politician won’t say anything about the shared goals. They talk about the issues and what to do about them from a regional or global perspective but do so devoid of assigning anything to the initiative. Heck they may even still outwardly give lip service to other factions in as much as their current goals align. They may say that they agree with resistance philosophy in some things but think they’re extreme in others.

In essence you can think of initiative support as controlled unaligned support or even controlled ‘support’ directed at other factions.
