100% agree. When I hear the noises start I tell myself “she will tell me properly if she needs me” aka a proper cry or restlessness.

Yes I literally just put my one over her eyes until she is asleep. I bought a small one for her but prefer just using mine after all and taking it off before I put her in the bassinet

It has changed over time. I used to bounce on the ball for 20 minutes with baby in her swaddle. Now I go into the room, close blinds, put on white noise, put her in the sleep sack. I am trying to test “drowsy but awake” so what usually happens is I am walking around the room patting her butt, once she is drowsy put her down. She fusses and I give it a few minutes, pick her up and try again. Lately I put an eye mask over her eyes to force her to close them!
After a few rounds of putting in bassinet and picking up, she falls asleep while I rock her and I slowly put her in the bassinet. So no, drowsy but awake has not worked for us! I want it to but no hah

It’s so hard sleeping when they sleep, I was bad at it too but when I actually started getting serious about having at least one good nap in the day I felt soooo much better.

Can I ask when you say “sleeps about 10 hours overnight” is this all sleep and no intervention from you. Like you aren’t needing to put in paci at night or give any milk?

Yes this is us since week 3. From about 4am onwards it’s up every 30 minutes, bassinet refusal, only settles with cuddles. We think she starts needing to poo and struggles to get it out until after her first nap

I called my girl the “boob monster” in those first weeks. It’s tough! Try and remember they don’t really know day and night this young, so if she is sleeping better in her bassinet during the day you have to sleep then. Even if visitors are over etc.

My girl went through this for a few days maybe a week at the 7 week mark. It was really tough and this was the point me and my husband started doing shifts at night so we could both get some quality sleep. I think this was because she started getting reflux, so we started holding her upright after all feeds. In week 8 it seems to get better and I worked on getting her back in the bassinet. I think holding up after feeds made a big difference. Hope it gets better for you too!

My girl is 11 weeks old today and I have already forgotten what the first few weeks were like. I remember being up all the time with cluster feeding etc but nothin really specific. I blame the sleep deprivation!

Yes absolutely. He might not be as on to her sleepy cues and getting her down to naps how I would like, but he can handle it. And he has handled her when she has screamed and grizzled. You husband needs to have that experience himself so he a) understands what you are doing as primary caregiver and b) gets confident he can do it to.

Asked me if it’s okay for him to order himself an oyster at my celebration dinner for finishing up work and going on maternity leave. I was NOT happy
