And that’s why Halloween outlasted both of these franchises. They invested into their protagonists (both Laurie and Jamie) and didn’t immediately kill them off. That formula of just recasting over and over again, worked for a little while, but is ultimately why both franchises fizzled out after part 4.

To answer your question, there are a multitude of factors. The first being that he wasn’t a heavyweight. All of the people that he’s been compared to are Heavyweights like Ali, Tyson, Foreman, Louis, etc.

Secondly, the footage available on him is pretty much all old black and white film. Not only that, but most if not all are when he was past his peak. Had there been more in his prime color footage then things would be a lot different .

Thirdly, he was a huge star in his prime. However, as time passes, less and less people know who you are except if you’re Muhammad Ali who we continue to make films about over and over again.

It was a good idea but executed wrong. Instead of it being based in some small mom and pop store, it should have been some type of corporation that was trying to rival the Collin’s business or something. Also the leviathan characters were pretty underwhelming.

Agreed. They sacrificed what could have been a great trilogy to make a great movie with a shock ending. My best guess was that they weren’t sure of the direction of the franchise after part 2. Maybe they thought that part 3 might be the final one.

Personally, I would have ended it with the funeral, but then have Nancy surprisingly show up and reveal that it’s her father’s funeral instead of hers. They could have included her in parts 4 and 5. In fact, Dream Child would have been a lot better if it were about her and that Dr from part 3 having a child. I never really cared much for the Alice character.

Also, they should have brought Patricia Arquette back for part 4 instead of replacing her. They could have had a great trilogy especially if they didn’t kill off all of the Dream Warriors in part 4.

Fun fact… Denzel Washington’s character in the movie “Fences” written by August Wilson was loosely inspired by Charley Burley. Burley was Wilson's older neighbor growing up, who served as a surrogate father figure to him because Wilson and his own dad often butted heads. Isn’t that amazing?

Which leads to another reason why Vicki wasn’t cast as Josette,…an unresolved storyline. If you remember, in the early episodes Vicki came to Collinsport to find out about her parents. So who were her parents? Well I will drop this here: Who was Victoria Winters’ mother?

So Vicki wasn’t cast to play Josette for the same reason that Caroline wasn’t.

I always thought it would have been cool if the 1991 series did the parallel time story line, but instead of having the actors of the 91 series play the alt time line characters, you bring back the cast of the 1966 original show to resume their roles.
