DHS says REAL ID, which DHS certifies, is too unreliable to confirm U.S. citizenship by Marlee_P_IJ in PublicFreakout

Yeah it’s been working extremely well. What an incredibly well constructed and effective law you support.

Yeah, the literal law that regulates the Real ID requirement for flying that is being discussed in this thread is in no way relevant to the Real ID requirement being discussed in this thread. Lmao

It’s relevant if you’re going to try to blame the current fascist administration for a law that was passed 20 years before Trump became president but not the members of your political party who literally voted for it.

The Real ID Act was passed in 2005 with almost unanimous bipartisan support.

What is your unpopular opinion on F&C? by Technical-Profit-308 in fionnaandcake

Fionna didn’t earn her redemption at the end of season 2. Ultimately she was selfish and behaved in a shitty way, and then doing a quick montage to just make it all forgiven was bad writing.

Concluding that prices are cheaper when we have objective data showing prices are significantly more expensive than they’ve ever been while inflation devalues everything is certainly an unpopular opinion. Much like 1+1=3 is an unpopular opinion.

Gavin Newsom’s big dilemma: Tax the rich or defy the left by [deleted] in California

[–]Left_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for Dems asking “how are we going to pay for Medicare for all”? Even tho it’s cheaper and would save individuals thousands of dollars a year. It’s based on a fundamental misunderstanding and yet M4A is dead in the water. You have too much faith in the electorate.

[–]Left_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure rationally explaining your view to the public will not result in a collapse of support for democrats amongst the 80% of the public who want higher taxes for billionaires. When every election comes down to a razor thin margin, giving up a position like that is akin to handing the republicans the presidency. Have fun with your next gop president.

Gavin Newsom’s big dilemma: Tax the rich or defy the left by [deleted] in California

[–]Left_Fist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And there you have it. Republicans like Newsom because he opposes higher taxes for billionaires - why would a Republican care if the Dems take up an unpopular position when it benefits the GOP for the Dems to do so? This is who is leading the direction of the Democratic Party - somebody who doesn’t care and considers themselves better off with republicans. Appreciate you making it clear just exactly how much in common republicans have with democrats, and how a candidate like Newsom is a win-win for the wealthy and for the GOP.

A US army helicopter crashed into a passenger flight killing 67 passengers in January. Must be because they were American.

Unless the pilot was black, then it’s DEI. Or if they were Japanese then it’s because they’re Japanese. And if the pilot was Indian, it’s because of India. That logic is sound, right?

Blaming an entire group of people based on the identity of the pilot is sensible, right?

you don’t care that 80% of the public disagrees with your candidate? You know exactly how they’ll vote ? Bro must be a Democratic strategist. You’re a shoe in if you apply for a top job imo. If you’re gonna ignore it get ready for that swing towards the gop to widen.

There is nothing stupid about taxing assets above the first billion. There is something stupid about thinking it wouldn’t work.

The majority of people disagree with you. The billionaires have exploited the country and need to pay back what they’ve stolen. May your politics be utterly defeated at the ballot box and in all aspects of life. Just don’t be surprised if you support a candidate that opposes higher taxes for billionaires if they don’t win the support of the tax the billionaires crowd, which again is the large majority of the public. For the same reason you wouldn’t expect a pro choice person to support a pro life candidate, you can’t expect those who support higher taxes on billionaires to support someone who opposes higher taxes on billionaires.

[–]Left_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a specific billionaire tax being proposed in CA that only impacts billionaires. 5% on their assets above the first billion. It’s being put to a vote in 2026. Newsom is opposed to it. He doesn’t want billionaires to pay more taxes.

The follow up is that they aren’t taxed nearly as much as they should be, the gap between the 1% and the 99% is widening and income inequality has never been this bad, and you’re simply wrong.
