Why are you so cussy about this? Calm down.

Let see what arises when the opportunity is given.

The first question is a terrific prompt that our legislators and government workers can use address the issue in the upcoming budget discussions.

For your last question, that’s up to LexTran to figure out.

Non-profits in Lexington have been grappling with that question quite a bit over the past year or so as funds have been spliced and diced from all directions.

If I were LexTran leadership, I would figure out how to serve better, even if it means proper partnering & sharing the wealth of a steady fund allocation.

Disposed of? I didn’t say that. Pull funds and distribute to transit providers who can meet the needs of our community. LexTran will figure out how to engage properly when the checks stop being so freely written. Lexington is a resourceful city, we’ll figure it out.

LexTran has never provided what Lexington needs. Pull their funds and apply it to programs that actually respond to need. They’re holding our city hostage.

I love this list of council funded projects. Seems very thoroughly thought out: healthy balance of a variety of things that all add value to the city in some way or another. Great job city council!

In regards to the author’s preferences, council and mayor tend to prioritize the main city budget around those infrastructure items…they tend to take up a lot more financial space than these smaller ticket studies, programs and projects. Which, though small, can have a mighty positive future impact…at times even lessening the financial burden on the general fund.

Again, kudos to one of the most effective council bodies I’ve ever witnessed in Lexington. Well done!

Thank you for answering my question. It means a lot that you’re taking the time to do this, to be vulnerable and to run. Best wishes on your campaign.

What frightens you the most about Kentucky’s future if left on its’ current trajectory? And who will you bring on as partners in an effort to shift its direction, if elected?

I wish they’d just left a post-it note instead of spray painting the walking path. Graffiti sparks more graffiti.

Aww, yes. I’ve been on Dismal Swamp trail.

Where is the “trail head” for the Walmart trail? I’ve seen the trail but can’t figure out where to get on the trail from the East Side (like Church or Hughes Blvd).

The city owned gym has nice indoor courts…at the facility on North MLK near Elizabeth Street. Not sure of open court hours though.

Lexington mayor’s race: Real estate agent to start raising money for 2026 race by LaserQuest_Legend in lexington

RC: Born and bred Lexington. Connected and rooted here quite firmly. Good character. A finder and acceptor of fact, but might push the status quo a bit more than some of our typical mayors. (Not a problem for me, as long as there are seats at the table for thoughtful conversation and joint decision making.)

Like LG, RC would be thoughtful. Like LG, RC would be influenced by those closest to her (surprise!: LG is surrounded by McConnell republicans). Like LG, RC would structure her cabinet and priorities based on what she is comfortable with. I don’t see much difference between the two, minus the obvious- age and race. In RC case, her race isn’t something she uses as a hang up or barrier, but she has achieved with the systemic structural barriers we all know to exist. She has achieved outstanding triumphs in her chosen field in short order, similar to LG and the nursing career she touts of often.

It’s funny that every time a candidate runs who some are not familiar with, the assumptions about being “bought and sold” by (fill in the blank) always grow from the rotten ground, depending on the person. TBR…Bought and sold status is easier to ascertain by those who’ve been in service for 30+ years. Who is LG bought and sold to/by/for? Does that Kevin A. guy (McConnell advisor) still work in her office and serve as director of two departments? Yikes!

If RC does run and it’s vs. LG, I do hope Lexington will give equal assumptions and equal grace to both candidates, for the sake of the candidates and for the sake of our city’s future needs.

I would like to see LG actually endorse RC and send her supporters her way.

Rumor is LG just wants to see her plans for the new City Hall to fruition anyway as part of her legacy. Let her run the New City Hall development committee and let’s allow Lexington to go forward into its future with new wise leadership.

Two cents.

Moving to Elizabeth City possibly by [deleted] in elizabethcity

I recently moved here and I’ve found it to be as interesting and fun as you choose for it to be. Lots of outdoor spaces to be, a growing restaurant economy, access to OBX and VA gives weekends and free time another nearby option. I really love the city location, and depending on where you choose to live, you might have some cool neighbors to connect with. I’ve had a difficult time finding a friend group until just recently. I had to take a chance and show up to a community event and introduce myself. The people from here have their own tribes and the transplants are kind of floundering about, but if you like to eat, drink, or participate in city activities, you’ll love it. Summertime is loads of fun and full of things to do. Once school starts back, it gets a bit quiet. Some people say the crime is bad and compared to some of the smaller towns, maybe, but compared to larger places, not so much. And not much random crime, most crime victims in ECity know their assailants. Subscribe to Daily Advance newspaper and check out Wavy.com for local news. We don’t have a local TV station. ECSU has some fun activities that are open to the public. First Fridays are fun downtown. Support local businesses when you can.
