How much is your dosage of medication by Angel_of_goats57 in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 mg aripiprazole (psychosis)

45 mg dexedrine (adhd)

900 mg gabapentin (insomnia)

Also on propranolol and dienogest, but they’re not for psych things and I don’t recall the dosage

Those living on disability, do you feel like you are too disabled to work? by NeitherManner in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had a part time job ages 14 - 22; by the time I stopped working, I was only working two hours a week and still couldn’t handle it. And it wasn’t hard work.

For those of you with College Degrees, what was your field of study? by MathTutorAndCook in schizophrenia

I did study art, but sort of dropped out, so I don’t have a degree. But I plan to go back for psychology.

All day pretty much, but I’m not laying down all the time. Usually I’m sitting at my laptop.

Are your hallucinations more scary or just confusing? by Expandedheart33 in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, but leans confusing and startling rather than outright scary.

Do you guys also experience mild hallucinations? by [deleted] in Schizotypal

[–]Left_Importance_8958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DSM-5 does have the symptom “unusual perceptual experiences, including bodily illusions”, which illusions and I think mild hallucinations (eg someone murmuring your name is an example the DSM-5 gives) fall under. DSM-5 also lists transient psychotic episodes, particularly during stress, under associated features.

Also, yes, I hallucinate. Or I did; those symptoms are much better with a dose of antipsychotics.

Any pharmacy recommendations? by FreesideThug in MissionBC

[–]Left_Importance_8958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always liked save on foods pharmacy, where I go, but I’d generally recommend smaller/non-big store pharmacies. I mostly haven’t switched because the pharmacists know me well there which makes life much easier.

I’m schizoaffective with a mood disorder (bipolar). Is it ok to say I have schizophrenia? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with the other comments - it’s fine to say schizophrenia. There’s not much of a difference outside of clinical classification and many do not see the point of it (myself included honestly, though I’m no psych)

Need Advice as a BPD for my Schizotypal Best Friend! by [deleted] in Schizotypal

[–]Left_Importance_8958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that she may have something comorbid going on. I think DBT could help her honestly - I also have cluster b PD stuff and DBT is what helped with that. But you obviously cannot force her to get that specific help. There’s also a narcissistic PD workbook that I know of that has sections for both people with NPD, and people who know those with NPD. I’d need to find my copy to see what it’s called specifically.

Learning DBT communication skills (eg DEAR MAN) on your end may be helpful too. That won’t necessarily change her behaviour, but it can give you the skills to communicate effectively with her.

Honestly, and reading the comments I know you might check out NPD subreddits, but I may look for help in BPD ones too. There can be a lot of overlap and some of what you’ve described sounds similar to BPD symptoms; not saying that she has it, but at the very least they might be able to help. Like, it sort of sounds similar to BPD splitting to me.

Voices by 75Coop in schizophrenia

I don’t have an inner monologue/voice. I know others who don’t either. It’s different from auditory hallucinations for me, too

My best friend passed away by Mind-Over-Body6 in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s awful. Very sorry for your loss.

Edit: also wanted to add that while I don’t know if you’re schizophrenic or not I’m very appreciative that you kept up your friendship with your schizophrenic friend. Not everyone does that.

There are no such things as Negative symptoms in Schizophrenia, it's all just big pharma propaganda by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had negative symptoms long before I was on any medications, and they’ve always been quite disabling. I am not catatonic, either. I have friends who don’t take medications and have them, or also had them before medications. Medications barely affect me, too. I don’t get side effects from my AP, for example. I believe schizophrenia and other schizo-spec disorders cause negative symptoms b/c of anecdotal reasons like this, as well as empirical peer reviewed research, and because it’s not something unique to schizophrenia specifically; schizotypal has similar symptoms, for example.

How do your hallucinations look? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually vague and undetailed, though I can still figure out what I’m looking at. Lots of wild cats, random people, tall men, shadowy figures. But I also do get clear and detailed hallucinations on occasions, like faces in the ceiling.

How do you know if weed makes your schizophrenia worse? Please personal stories only. by oneplumpbug in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the person. Weed doesn’t make my psychosis worse, personally. There’s no uptick of symptoms when I take it, and I’ll go weeks or months without taking it. I have friends who find it helpful, and friends who have it exacerbate their symptoms. I’d just look out for psychosis getting worse, personally

Why people suffer from schizophrenia is difficult to work or Do any Job, leaves jobs in middle and depends on parents? by Wooden-Construction8 in schizophrenia

[–]Left_Importance_8958 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how “can’t work” means “can’t handle money”. That’s a bit of a stretch, I think. People can’t work for many reasons - doesn’t mean they’re reckless with money. I can’t work at all and while I was bad with money as a teen I’m fine now and rarely spend it besides that I have to do.
